While you are at it FKiH, you should post high quality card backs for us.. The textures for the cards, I've been dying to get ahold of these since I first saw your work..
If you happen to start drooling, please stand to the side, people might slip.
Counterspell as a Mythic Rare? That would solve any argument about its power level, right?
I actually wish Wizards would print full art or extended art in boosters. If anything, print them as often as foils (similar to removing duh text for 10th foils). I just wish I could get my hands on a lot of full art cards.
I love all the art posted in this thread. Great job on the custom stuff. I'm trying to mod some of it for cards in my cube. But I just noticed the name of the thread. Is the spelling intentional or not???

FkiH, what is it that you dislike about the frame??
What i disliked about the previous version [not the mark II] was that the colored shape part of the frame lacked essence. It was just a flat color with a bevel. Imho if you're going to do a flat color, the shape should stay flat, but we like 3D-ness, we like the illusion of depth because it draws us in. So i changed it. I though about giving the shapes on the mark II a shadow, but i thought maybe not...
Hmmm *drools*,that's a spicy frame. I think that you could solve the problem by letting the most lower bar shift up a little bit, and let it end behind that P/T box instead of ending after it (you can see a portion ofit on the right of the P/T box). That way it could come out a bit more...

I intended to cut of the chunk that peeks out, but i forgot.
FKiH, not to be giving you extra tasks, but have you ever thought about re-defining mana symbols? Not the style but the symbols itself??
sry, if i tend to be bugging you a lot in the moment, but i'm trying to figure how your artistic mind work and develops things
i would more want to figure out what you think of doing it and maybe how you would do it than try an persuade you to actually do the task
New mana symbols was the task we had a few months ago for the artwork contest. I still have them floating around. Perhaps i will. If you want to know my process, i usually start with the feeling i want to invoke, and things associated with that feeling. Then i move onto commonly used symbols for those associations [with the feeling and the subject] and see if i can't combine them.
But most of the time, they pop into my head. It may sound nice but it gets annoying, like having too many ideas that you can't put down fast enough.
I'm planning an MSE version for the psd that was released recently. The one showed most recently has no psd, so there can't be a template. I'm not even sure how well the newest one would work in MSE, to be honest.
i'm talking about the two spike on both sides that embrace the Textbox in the normal version, but in the textless version there's nothing to embrace and it looks kinda empty and off, plus I personally, even though i love your work, don't like the way the transition is made betrween card art and cerdit box, it's just like, "What, credits already?!", as if it's lacking smoothness
Sry if I'm being to critical about "small" things
So you want a smooth intro into the textless art credit? Hmmmmm....i'll see what i can do.
I was playing around with the Archangel picture and I made a few changes and adjustments. You can feel free to use as many or as few of these changes as you'd like.
1) The P/T box didn't match well with the rest of the card. I thought that the shape and background colors of the type line box would work better, so I duplicated it best as I could over the P/T box. This might be too small for Autochthon Wurm's 9/14 stats, but otherwise it should be okay.
2) I'm not a very big fan of the open frame with art going all the way to the edges. I closed it in with the black border, and it looked good. But then I felt like it needed the bars on the left and right of the art area to finish it off. These are small additions that could easily be implemented with additional layers so that both borderless and bordered are options.
3) The gold frame was a bit ... dull. I increased the frame's saturation and contrast a little. And with the black border on it, the pinstripe around the frames was a little too dark, so I lightened it a little bit.
Those are the changes I made while playing with it. As I said, feel free to use any, all, or none of them.

They're all valid changes with some thought behind them, i appreciate that. I'll let the masses pic this apart as they see fit.
i do like the 1st one better (khamal) but i agree it needs some sort of texture... i like the little cardtype symbol, and i belieive if u made one for every type and then for legendary, you could leave the card type spot empty (or removed) from all cards other than ones that need it (creatures and tribals) and that could be awesome looking in my opinion
None taken. What do you think about the P/T box? My main goal as I started the modification was to make the P/T fit with the frame better.
The rest was just secondary since I was already working on it. The black borders are on cards to decrease the tolerances for printing and cutting out the cards. Unless this template is going to be used for proxies, that is unnecissary.
The P/T box is good but the gold is way to bright, as the white letters don't come out so good...
Well without the separate layers of a PSD file, my attempt is somewhat crude.
The colors and the shadows in the P/T box should (and would in the official version) be the same as the colors and shadows in name box and type box. The idea is to unify the mismatched colors between all three of those boxes so that it looks like they are intentionally supposed to go together.
So are the colors in the name box and type box also too bright and hard to read ... or is this just a commentary on my ability to use the clone tool?

Most likely wait for some period of time, shouldn't be anywhere near as long as last time though...
SO! People! Show us your renders!
*EDIT*
I have sent FPM my Future Sight Future shifted final psds [there's 2] and a textless psd.
I'm telling you here so you don't think i'm not doing anything.

That's for releasing those two as I've been waiting for those
I'm also glad to see some nice looking custom frames are being made. Keep up with all the quality stuff.
If I had one, I would have taken my hat of. I'll just flap my bunny ears instead.
*flap* *flap*
I love those frames, and I can't wait for the PSD's to be published.
I'll probably make some custom cards in them.

It's funny because i personally don't like the frame. I like the art explosion-ness of it, but not the actual doohickies.
W/o further ado, Mark II (if you will)
Purtty mana symbols...so purtty...

I have a deviant link in my banner, but none of my card frames are up. Maybe i will post them sometime in the future.
I'm not sure how i could fix that.

No, that was a mistake sadly. Yet it appears it's not offending anyone or the mods would have corrected it.
Perhaps i will ask a mod to correct it.
