Hello all I was on themanadrain forums tried to sign up but cant seem to get it working. Found this thread here and many of you guys are on both. Just wanted to introduce myself. Names Will. Played Magic as a young kid (aka stared at the cool art and made up rules with my brother) and then later on in high school fairly competitively. Lost touch with it until Zendikar got back into it and then due to work I ran out of time to play. Started collecting magic art this year to get my fix since I just can never find the time to play!

Soul Manipulation Alara Reborn also by Carl Critchlow

Dungrove Elder by Matt Stewart
Fauna Shaman, Silent-Blade Oni, Ambassador Oak, Boggart Harbringer - Steve Prescott
Divine Offering, Timber Protector, Thromok the Insatiable - Terese Nielsen
Pariah's Shield, Goblin Cannon - Douglas Chaffee
I'm pretty jealous of some of the art you guys have collected! But I'm also happy to find out I'm not the only one doing this as I have been pretty much alone in this endeavor for the past 6 months lol. Thanks to originalmagicart.com i found this community.
Thanks KingofScrubs i got a little crazy i know haha...totally addicted i collected art before this but just random pieces mostly from my travels to asia. I've since sold a large chunk of it to pay for these pieces
Okay, I have to ask... Is anyone willing to part with any of their art? I have one hole on my wall and I'm saving it for a piece that was used in the original set (unlimited / revised).if you have something that you would be willing to sell, please let me know. I passed up on one a few months ago and I've been kicking myself ever since.

Really? Cos I have about 200 Magic paintings looking for a home.
I have a pdf which I'll email to you. My contact info is in the upper right of my web page - www.peteventers.com/blog/
It's been an interesting year for art sales. The impending 20th anniversary has definitely kicked off a renewed interest in originals.
I am looking for two specific pieces of original Quinton Hoover artwork:
Earthbind
Whispers of the Muse
I have searched everywhere under the sun. Both of these originals were purchased from him long ago, and he has no idea about who the owners are at this point. If anyone has ANY leads on where these originals might currently reside, I'd be eternally greatful.
I know it isn't original art from Magic, but it is Magic related by way of artist. I've been fortunate enough to become owner of some original Quinton Hoover sketch work.
There is more, but I got tired of uploading to photobucket.
I was originally a bit skeptical about them being authentic, but it has been confirmed (through Quinton Hoover himself) that these are indeed his. I have a great deal of admiration for his work and talent, so owning these is a pretty big deal to me
Just saw this on Facebook and thought of you guys who collect original art work. Chris Rahn is auctioning off the original oil painting for the new Black Lotus that is in the Powered MODO cube over on that internet auction site.
Not sure if I can link it, but it should be easy to find.
Hey guys i am new to the forums so i am not sure if this can be posted here. anyone of you guys know where i can find the original art for Kaalia of the vast and both sorins? cause i googled them and can't seem to find them anywhere. thanks in advance for the answer guys!
There may not be an original painting, but there may be sketches that you could get. It's not unheard of for an artist to sketch the subject on paper, scan it, and then complete the image from there. You might get lucky going the sketch route, but given what you are looking for, I highly doubt you would be the first to ask.
So... I've found it hard to get people to part with their art for money if it's not already for sale somewhere like eBay. Would there be any interest in starting a trade thread for original art? I have 9 pieces that someone else migh really really want and there are some pieces out there that I'm looking for that I would trade what I currently have for. Just an idea... Let me know what you guys think.
hey zach
i feel your pain man-so sorry
ive been collecting magic art for like 15 years and looking back ive missed out on many opportunites that i could just kick myself over.
you have great taste liking dave palumbo-he is really nice and i am lucky enough to have 2 of his originals-not the one you are looking for
my advice and concilation is
1) save you 1000-dont spend it on something else cause you have already identified the piece that you really want and although its not available now it might be
which leads me to....
2) as someone who has been collecting thi smagic art for some time ive seen trends many times-and what often happens (heck ive even done it) is that pople have their collections till tehy see another new piece that they must have, so in order to get funds right away they are forced to put some of their other pieces up on the block-save your money for if this ever happens with "totally lost" it might become available again one day and with your plea out there maybe the erpson who now owns it can work out a deal with you
the only problem is if it does go to the hands of someone who has it in their "untouchables" section all collectors have a few peices that they are taking to the grave with them. but good luck getting this piece-i know the drive to get something in the art world that is so meaningful as well as missing out on it by a few hours
cheers
fingers crossed and thats how nice of a guy dave is-excellent in all areas-so let us know what happens-the buyer will get the info-lets hope his drive to have it is less then yours
one other thing to think about (and im the last to offer this advice as once youve had the taste of an original nothing else comes close)...but have you thought about the original sketch for the painting-its usually way cheaper tehn the original-i dont collect original sketches cause it just doenst do it for me compared to the original, but when there is no original to be had, its the second best solution i guess
..anyway something to ponder-good luck and let us know what happens.

Best of luck with your mission, I met you at the prerelease last night and I was actually telling your story to someone else this morning, wondering how it had turned out. Everyone's got a "one that got away" story (mine was a house), I hope yours has a happy ending.
Hello. I have just acquired a very rare piece of MTG art. This is a piece that was created by Chris Rush as a replica of the Black Lotus. It is one of a kind. Framed with it is a PSA 9Bblack Lotus.
Does anyone have any idea of the value of this piece? Or a guess?
Some of Dringenberg's original comic art goes for well north of $5k.
With Painter's Servant being such a classic, iconic card -- probably his best known -- it might be hard to acquire it for a reasonable amount of money. :\

Claims:
The kicker variant in WWK will be "Kicker without a kicked effect." - proven wrong Jan 2010 : 2 wrongs
Decks:
:symu::symb: Bloodchief Ascension - Modern
:symb::symr: Rakdos, the Defiler - EDH
:symu::symb::symw: Sharuum the Hegemon - EDH
:symw::symu::symb: Zur the Enchanter - EDH
Its really impressive in person to be honest the art on the card doesnt do the original justice as is the case with most of the card art! hehe
