Nice, I just found out about this thread. There should have been a link to redirect people from the Make a Proxy thread back here. Good thing we have a new thread
TheEvilCliff: What you want to do is put everything other than your artwork into a single folder and apply a layer mask to the folder. Then pain in black on the mask whatever parts of the artwork you want to bleed through. You can also duplicate your art, drag it to the top layer, apply a layer mask to it, make it completely black, and then make white the parts you want to bleed over your template. When I'm painting my layer mask I use a brush around 75% hardness.
Shadow layer requires a blank layer as the top layer of your template. Use a 30% opacity on your brush, 0% hardness, and paint black where you want your shadow.
This was great advice. I did a lot of fooling around with the layer masks, and I feel I have more to do. So far, nothing I've done has given me better results than the lasso tool when it comes to bringing artwork forward.
The shadow advice was phenomenal and easy, though. I've been needing to redo my Kaalia, since all these awesome angels are coming out, and while the chains at the top were driving me nutty (especially since the shadow on her arm is painted so clearly!) I'm pretty pleased with this.
Thanks so much, Theogony!

I have 15 EDH decks...sorta kills the 'I only need one of a card' aspect of the format.
I went and started a Commander/EDH blog! Come see it at http://wordofcommander.blogspot.com/ and it includes all 15 of my custom super-art generals!
If you're more into the finance section of the game, I write on Fridays for MTGPrice.com.
They will, I got a bit behind for many reasons, Send me your address via pm for prizes.
Also, the frame style for some of the new cards, like this one:
It is absolutely fantastic. Any chance someone could come up with a template?
Actually zeerbe has already provided a very similar one in his great great All-In-One Template and I suppose you should have already got one. All you need is just a little adjustment.
But the real and urge problem is, we don't have any template for the new coming Miracle Style Frame. Would mr.zeerbe or anyone be so kind as to make and to share this new Template please?
Artwork is Remilia Scarlet of Touhou, by Hao Yuan.
Edit: this card was literally spoiled like 45 minutes ago, and I instantly fell in love with it, and found spectacular artwork for it.
Artwork from CNSOFT's "Aion: The Tower of Eternity"
The Olivia is great for sure but I am afraid that the Casting Cost on it is wrong. Please check it out.
Also, would you provide a direct link to the image of it also please? I can't find it through google search by typing in the Artist name you summit. Thanks a lot.
Hey guys, I have been a long time follower of the Proxy art thread, I was checking out the new thread and came across Happy Gilmore's post of his compilations of previous art that has been digitally altered. I have viewed it plenty of times before being that it is a phenomenal libray of some of the amazing work people have put in to their proxies. However, as of a couple days ago I have been unable to access the library at all. It says that Dropbox could not find the forum page. I just wanted to give you a heads up that it isn't active at this time in case you weren't aware.
Thanks again for all the hard work you guys put into making these cards. You've made making my cube Soooo much easier. Cheers
I just wanted to say that everyone is doing a great job with following the new rules for this new thread. It has made the transition very easy.
However, there has been copious amounts of spam deleted. Please check out the forum rules for spam definitions - simply saying you like a render without contributing to the discussion counts as spam. Secondly, if a post has a problem (like linkage), PM the user. If it needs to be moderated, use the report button. Otherwise, the thread fills up with posts that are only temporarily useful (if useful at all) and you end up with only a couple of renders per page. Since we're all here to see renders, no one wants that.

I can recreate a similar effect off of Zerbee's template. Hopefully I don't lose people.
*This effect can be done with any color. The AVR Promo is done with black. It looks equally cool with white or [card color]. Have fun with it.
1. Textbox
a. Really simple. Choose the color you're incorporating. WotC uses black for the AVR Promo (see HG's post). Duplicate the textbox layer (or you're in for a world of hurt should you not like what you've done.
b. Fill the textbox with your desired color. Lower opacity to 70%.
2. "Master Twins" (Name frame + Type frame)
a. If you're working on Zerbee's template, duplicate the master twins layer called "Name/Typeline" (they are red by default).
****I changed these to WHITE (overlay - white 100%), because it makes other issues disappear
b. Copy this layer TWICE (yup)
c. Rename one "Name/Typeline TOP" and the other "Name/Typeline BOTTOM"
d. For the top one, delete the lower twin.
For the lower one, delete the top twin.
You're isolating both bars intentionally.
e. For "Name/Typeline BOTTOM"
> Go into layer effects (double click)
> Go to color overlay
> Beef this up to 100% and choose THE SAME COLOR your textbox is
> Hit Enter (aka keep the effects you just changed)
> For the layer opacity, bring this down to what your textbox is...aka 70%
f. Do not change "Name/Typeline TOP". You needed to isolate this because it affects the layer
3. "Color Twins"
a. Duplicate the " twins" layer you want. If you're working with a blue card (as with the given example), you're going to want to duplicate the [BLUE] twins layer.
b. After duplicating this layer, hide all other color twin layers except "Name/Typeline TOP" and "Name/Typeline BOTTOM"
c. Delete the lower twin (card type) from the [Blue] twins layer copy.
d. Switch the blue twins layer copy to "darken"
>Layer panel
>Top-right by default should read "Normal"
>Make this read "Darken"
***This is why I changed Zerbee's master twin layers to white. The master twin layer gives it that gorgeous bevel/3d effect. Without it, the color twins look wrong by being flat. If you keep them red, the red will bleed through.
****Saving everyone a lot of headaches, change the Name/Types layers to be filled with white, mentioned in 2a.
Recap/Results:
What you've now done is the following:
1. Changed the textbox color and opacity
2. Made the Top twin identical to a normal card, except it's an isolated layer (instead of having BOTH the top and bottom twin)
3. The bottom twin is THE SAME color as the textbox. It is also the same opacity as said text box.

I mean, hell, we're all on a forum for something that most people would describe as a "children's card game"...do what makes you happy. You are never too old to enjoy yourself.
You can save some time by layer masking out the Type bar at the Group level for the Twins. That'll make it a togleable by Enabling/Disabling the mask. You'll then need to layer mask out the layer styles on the Type bar in it's Frame as well.
The type bar needs to be lowered as well.
I really should update the All-in-One. Or at least add the newer frames to a stand-alone that can be imported into the main...

That's a clipping mask issue, not a color issue.
EDIT:
Announcing the 1st 2 All-in-One Template Expansions!
AVR's Miracles and the New Promo frame.
Included in each PSD are all of the layers you will need to Duplicate over into the All-in-One. I have made available these 2 expansions as well as the All-in-One.
I've also made a Miracles template for modern, and was intending on creating one for Planeshifted. I should have my Modern template up tomorrow. (The template includes Modern standard frames, Modern Miracle frames, and Modern leveler textbox overlays.). For anyone interested, I'm also working on a Plane Card template that includes Phenomena, and a Modern DFC template. Not sure when I'll get them done. Here's a list of the templates I have completed:
Planeshifted:
Standard frames (includes leveler textbox overlays)
Split card frames
Flip frames
DFC frames (also includes leveler overlays)
Planeswalkers
DFC walker frames
Token template
ZEN full art land frame
Modern:
Standard template (includes miracles and leveler overlays)
Planeswalkers (includes 4 ability frames)
Chrome Kaldra's token template
ZEN full art land template
Let me know if you're interested in any of these, or if you're looking for any other specific templates.
Hey guys. After checking out cghub.com for Hammer of Bogardan artwork, I came across a few other pieces I got inspiration from. All of them ended up being lands.

I'm not as sold on the bars going across the card. I liked it a lot more when there was only text to break up the art.
I feel that the MPR cards and the Game Day promos are Wizards' chance to showcase the art, and the bars across them are a disservice to the art.
To me, anyway. The world is not lacking in opinions.

I'm mainly curious about the trophy, since random foil cards are useless for me without access to any acetone.
I'll take a shot at making a template.
