Artwork Tweaking: Free Style It was THE opportunity of doing whatever you wanted.
The challengewas:
Choose an artwork from an original MtG card (paper, not MOL) and do whatever you want to it (please, keep the original artwork recognizable!)
This time the poll will be a 1VS1 (exactly, we got just two entries.)
Poll Rules - Please read before voting
When voting, please assess how each entry fulfilled the challenge and take into account the quality of work submitted
Multi-vote: You can vote for more than one entry and this way give credit to more than one artist.
You are not allowed to vote for yourself. Votes are public and can be seen by everyone else
Feel free to comment on your vote. People will appreciate it.
Entries are displayed in the order they were submitted: first entries first, last entries last
The participant with the most votes will win. In case of a draw, the winner will be determined by the roll of a dice.
Please, don't try to influence the poll results in any way. Such activity would earn you a DQ and also a suspension from the contests. A relapse on such behavior would lead you to a permanent ban from the contests.
This poll will close on 17th October.
Here are the pieces:
Some words from artist:"I revised the Benalish Hero cart art design originally illustrated by Douglas Schuler by combining it with the Southern Paladin armor art he later did for the Weatherlight set and the Coastal shores painting of Benalia.
Thanks!"
Good luck to both of you!
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT:Due to the low attendance we have been suffering during the last months, this contest (as well as the other artwork contests) will pass through a recessuntil further notice. Thanks to everyone who took part of this and let's hope our contests to come back soon in better shape than ever, if such thing is even possible. (We will keep the contests subforum updated about any news regarding the contests.)
Sharuum: My favorite part of the piece is the fact that its got that that irregular border. Getting the borders to look good and not be messy is a bit hard to do (my siggy is proof of that). That roughness works well with the piece. I understand that this is a photoshop/digital manipulation contest... but I like seeing things that can't be done with just a push of a button or a filter. This one has none of that. I like seeing those human elements that make a piece more worked. What is done is done rather well to portray the "old art on an old piece of parchment" feel.
Benalish Hero: The art melding is so natural that I hadn't realized that her armour had changed. Had the description not been there, I definitely would have missed it. The only place that I can "see" the art mixing is in the top of her hair, but that is not a big thing as that can be explained as brushstrokes. I like the composition of the piece. The fact that it has the card border makes that much more believable.

In the end, my vote goes to FDW3773's piece.
