Yes, yes, it's a history trivia thread. I'll try to increase the difficulty as I go along, but some of my questions will be inherently easier to some than others.
First person to answer my question get's the point. If two people post "at the same time," I'm giving the point to the person who shows as having posted quicker.
Limit one question per customer, per set.
With that, away we go!
1.) What was the name of the most famous city-state from Pelloponesia.
2.) Who was Hannibal Barca?
3.) Who codified Babylonian law?
4.) Who was Nathan Hale? What was he famous for?
5.) When did Russia withdraw from World War One?
4. Nathan Hale was a spy for the colonial army during the American Revolutionary War. While on a mission in 1776, he was captured by the British and hanged. Before his execution, he supposedly coined the famous phrase "I only regret that I have but one life to give for my country."
Points to Salubrious for answering question five, kaabak for answering question one, Elpadregrande for answering question 1, Jon for (expertly) answering question 4, and fadeblue for number 3.
Reminder: You can only answer one question per question set.
Second Set:
a.) About what time span did the Myceneans hold control over Meditarranean trade?
b.) The city-state said to have developed democracy. (Or at least popularized it.)
c.) What were the Dorians?
d.) Who did Aristotle train? What did that person become?
e.) What was the very first Mesopotamian civilization to have writing?
e)If you mean pictograph-style writing, then the Sumerian. If you want an Alphabet, then the Phoenicians (whos alphabet was actually developed by the early Semites)

C. They were a group of Greeks from northern Greece that invaded central and southern Greece around 1100 BC. According to legend, I think they were supposed to be decendants of Heracles.
