Yeah, if we were going to get this crisis at all in the game, it's actually good that we got it this early.
Precisely, the jump track reversal is the real punishment of this crisis and as such, this one is not nearly as bad as it could at the moment. While population is a pretty non-renewable resource, there's much worse/better crises to worry about.

Yeah. Considering the other card I saw could have put us in a way worse situation than losing something we can't really lose in the first place, might as well do this one first.
Another important point to articulate: beating a check by a lot is not a good thing. You get nothing extra and its almost guaranteed to result in a failed check later.
EDIT: Another thing we might want to do once we get out of this mess is have Baltar use his detector on a player that is not Roslin and, should that person be human, elect them as president. Roslin is horrible at the president job because she's too frakkin sick to use the office to its full effect, while Baltar just can't be trusted.
Oh, and Admiral, consider the use of your OPG (once per game) ability an admission of being a skinjob unless there are extenuating circumstances (for instance, we scan you and you come up human).
7 - Jump Computer Failure Tactics, Engineering
Pass: No Effect.
Fail: -1 population and move the fleet token 1 space towards the start of the Jump Preparation track

I mentioned this earlier as I made the same mistake, but Apollo's "Launch and pilot a Viper" starting position means we actually have 2 vipers at 7 o'clock (one piloted by Apollo, the other unmanned) and 1 unmanned at 5 o'clock.
"Apollo, this is Boomer. If you could use some maximum firepower on those frakkin raiders at the Fore, I can come be your wingman soon enough."
(Hint to any of the players before me, preferably Tigh, use an XO on me and I can get out there and join Apollo ASAP).

Does he need to discard to move clock positions? Sounds off...let me check.
