I recently found myself done with a project and now I have a little bit of free time. I wanted to do something worthwhile, but I also wanted to entertain myself, so I spent a couple minutes thinking up a little game to amuse myself but that I could feel good about when it was done. So here's the game:
I will donate $10 to a charity, any charity someone wants, assuming they fulfill the following conditions:
-Two people choose (different) charities to champion, and then select an online game, that both players own or to which they otherwise have access, and agree to record and post a video of them playing against the other player (commentary would be awesome but I realize that's a lot to ask of anyone while doing anything competitively, so commentary is optional).
-The competition doesn't have to follow the main point of the game, as imagined by the game's creators (for example, instead of "whoever wins a game of Magic on MtGO", the competition could be "whoever gains 100 life first in a game of Magic on MtGO". Or whatever. Be creative, go nuts.) I get final approval of what I think will be interesting to watch before I put my money on the line, though, so challenging goals that require more critical thinking and less experience-born skill will be favored over ideas like "let's play a game of Starcraft". If skill is a significant component, try to pick an opponent with a similar level of skill - try to pick activities that both players feel like they can compete at.
-The contestants will play and record their match.
-Each player will upload and link their video to this thread, along with, if they would like, a summary of their strategy.
Once each player has provided their video, I will provide photographic/screenshot evidence of submitting the $10 donation to the charity of the winner's choice. (Although I reserve the obvious right to decline if common sense suggests that someone was trying to go against the spirit of the challenge, for whatever reason.)
Basically, it boils down to this: two people play a game they already like, and then I give money away at the behest of the winner. Anyone interested? Post your ideas for matches, charity possibilities, and if you'd like to play!
