Well. I had initially assumed AH was town until yesterday (game day). His pushing of Ande seemed like he nailed Alx and H7 and himself and Ande as lynch pairs and only cared about not being the losing end in his situation, rather than what is good for the town. This obviously requires further investigation.
First I'll read Ande's play up until yesterday. Then AH's play yesterday, then Ande from yesterday. Then maybe go back and see if connections can be drawn with Pod and see if those....
W/e I'll make a decision. That's what you need to know. Not now. I'm tired.
I believed HAWKEYE7 was probably scum, and I really didn't want to lynch Alx2/POD. I thought that leaving both 'doctors' alive would create somewhat of a dilemma. Mafia would have needed to kill one or risk a failed kill. Mafia would have had to let both live or create transparency. Plus...

I had divided it into pairs, and I only knew one pair for sure. I was acting then to lynch the person I was sure of. I did exactly that because it was the good of the town.
Before the end consider this, my strategy laid bare: I intended to constantly draw attention by unapologetically doing what I believed best. I tried to create a situation where the mafia would not nightkill me believing me to be an easy lynch, a distraction, a trump card for a rainy day. A situation where every attempt to use me they would fail, because though my attitude was irritating, my actions beneath were not scummy. It's why I claimed in my first post and more importantly exacerbated the situation. It's why I played a mental snap halfway through the game. It's why I've doggedly pursued my top suspect with as little regardless to circumstances as I could manage and still remain an active player in the game. It's why I refused to digress into detailed banter that would cause every detail of my mindset to become a known quantity. It's why I never explained.
So here we are, at the end, played to the plan. It only needs to work once more. Lets finish this. Vote: Andelijah.
I was acting then to lynch the person I was sure of. I did exactly that because it was the good of the town.
You made no case, nor any effort to defend yourself. How was this supposed to help us?
Before the end consider this, my strategy laid bare: I intended to constantly draw attention by unapologetically doing what I believed best. A situation where every attempt to use me they would fail, because though my attitude was irritating, my actions beneath were not scummy. So, as a vanilla who is putting minimal participation into the game (to quote you "I didn't put a lot of time into it"), you felt that the scum killing power roles was better than killing you? Again, how was this supposed to help us? This was one of my main points against you in my original case.
That's actually a good point. If we had lynched the correct one of you and Ande yesterday instead of a doc, the mafia would probably have been forced to no-kill. Now, if you had made us aware of this situation, the town, or at least I, would have considered it, but you did not. Even if you had some reason to keep this to yourself, you could had provided a compelling case against Ande, rather than just citing what had already been said which, to the rest of the town, obviously wasn't enough.
Uh, sorry? I believed the correct course of action was an argument for itself. In short, it was obvious.
@Andelijah: Yeah, I've been adamant about your lynch since you attacked me. But I was pretty interested before then. Since you replaced into the game with the same profile I've seen mafia use many times. You cant turn this into OMGUS.
@Andelijah: Yeah, I've been adamant about your lynch since you attacked me. But I was pretty interested before then. Since you replaced into the game with the same profile I've seen mafia use many times. You can't turn this into OMGUS.
But it is OMGUS.
A look at your posts:
You are convinced I am scum on day two. There is no vote or reasons.
I ask you why you think I am scum in the next post (and to try to prove your accusation).
Your next post ignores the question (as do all your posts after that, you never even recognized the question).
Here, you say the only target you have is MJM. Again, proves you weren't suspicious of me.
Finally, from here until now, you have been suspecting voting me. So yes, even though you claim to have had residual suspicions of me early in the game, you never even tried to make anything of them. So your attacks of me are pretty much entirely after I made the case on you. You never voted or FoSed me, nor even pushed for my lynch.
Ok after reviewing, here's a few thoughts. I don't have any detailed notes or cases, as most of that has been done to death. What I do have is:
Vote records for both Ande and AH are average. Both Andelijah and AH were on about the same amount of town lynches, both were on Ged, and neither were on Pod. Ande being off Bat and AH being on is basically a null tell.
I have found AH to give off a much more scummy vibe than Ande for most of the game. Overall Ande's points have seemed more genuine, and AH's more opportunistic and, well, scummy. Andelijah's opinions and accusations seem leveled in a townie manner, whereas AH's seem flat and cautious and calculated. AH's overall "strategy" of excusing his lack of explanations and scummy stubbornness as attempting to not get nightkilled reeks of scum coverup/backtrack. My read of AH for the majority of the game had been null mainly because he was neglecting to go deep into his opinions and remain transparent (as he has claimed to be part of his plan), but it finally culminated in scumminess in the final days due to his lack of defenses and stubbornness regarding POD/H7.
Me being the cautious type. I am inclined to give AH one more time to convince me to vote Ande. I will not make another case for him to respond to, for he neglected to respond to Ande's so why should he respond to mine? But maybe with an actual game loss hanging over his head he will produce something. However, I am busy with school (I have been this entire game. I am sorry that I could not keep up the activity level that I should have.) and would like for this to be over soon. So I am giving AH until I next log in, before I vote for him.
I can't answer a scummy vibe. I always did what I perceived as the right thing to do without concern for appearances. I did answer Ande case, but not on a point by point basis. Here is the summary yet again. I believe a closer examination of my actions, not my attitude will show my motives to be town.
As far as a game loss motivating me to be more detailed in my posting goes, that's not going to help. A game loss has always been the consequence for poor play, and I never let that make me turn this into an unfun experience. I've failed you and a bunch of other people, MJM, and I am too selfish to fix it. I have some regrets.
Matjoeman arrives in the meeting place with Andelijah and Abandon Hope both standing on chairs with there necks in nooses, trying to decide which is scum. Matjoeman walks up behind Andel and tells him to step down, he is spared. MJM then kicks out Abandon Hope's chair. After AH's body stops twitching MJM turns around to see Andelijah holding multiple pieces of chalk in his hands. MJM attempts to run, but in vain.

Well done mafia, a much deserved victory.
Very good job andelijah. Though I had you as scum I let the poor play of AH the entire end of the game sway me that he might be Alx2's mafia partner.
I am gratified to know I nailed Alx2 spot on though.
Good game really by Alx2 as well, you did very well to tip the suspicion over to AH at the end there. That was skillfully done.
MJM also a good game. I would have hoped that the rest of the town players would have heeded my repeated calls for activity, posting and effort that at the end.
Oh well.

OH MY GOD. Longest game of mafia ever. Alx and andel really pulled it together there after my shoddy play. Lesson learned: trying a new, much more scummy than normal play style is not okay when you are, in fact, scum.
Post-death I managed to tag Alx2 and Ande as most likely to be mafia. Maybe because I already knew Ande was mafia when Jobie confirmed it, Ande+Alx2 connection jumped at me second-last day. Also, Alx2 seemed to have coasted by before, so his sudden attack against HE7 just seemed wrong to me. However, Jobie already told me those two were mafia, so maybe someone with an objective view can post if they thought the same.
Thanks for the game Jobie!
Mafia MVP: Andelijah. I didn't really suspect you until the last 3 days, by then there were only so many choices. Props on winning the game for your team!
Town MVP: No idea. Can't remember before the last few days.
MJM and I tried getting into endgame, I know I tried to stay out of the spotlight and played a bit suspicious to survive. Too bad I got NK'ed.
@HE7: How come you tried protecting MJM instead of blocking Ande? Were you not sure between AH and he?
I want to say to Jobie that I thought the game was very interesting and seemed very well balanced.
Thanks for running the game and letting me replace in.

Town MVP: Hawkeye7 -- pegged both scum in a post during day 7 or 8 and played fairly well after he replaced in. Town LVP: Abandon Hope -- was under the radar and kinda scummy the whole game.
Mafia MVP: Andelijah -- played very well once replacing in and avoided the final lynch
HM: Alx2 -- pulled a doc claim that almost got Hawkeye lynched (which would have caused me to laugh hysterically) and held the Town Cop at bay for four straight nights Scum LVP: Bateleur -- SK lynched Day 1? ouch.
All comments on the game are welcome.
I'd also like to thank Loran for reviewing my game. It was fun to mod. Though I was standing at the side screaming at the town/mafia at things I noticed.
@Ged: MN born and raised, I'm currently at the University of Iowa for Engineering.
I would say town MVP is AKid, for making great vigging choices (killed Zionite, and did not kill MJM despite my best effort to manipulate him into doing so). And agree with ande for mafia MVP - very townish play all-around, deservedly survived to the end. He's also the one credited with realizing that there's no doc and we can kill LJustus with impunity.
Ah well. At least I got to participate in the Day 1 bateleur takedown. Good game, everyone.
Edit: Also, I'm fairly certain this was only the second longest game of mafia on MTGS. Romance of the Three Kingdoms went on for about seven months, as I recall.
Though I did not follow this game closely, I'd just like to say how nice it is to see a post-game where everyone enjoyed the game and the setup, and no one is upset about poor balance or stupid play, etc. Kudos to all players, reviewers, and the mod

I came into the game with 4 unique roles: the Inventor, the Governor the über-Survivor, and the hider. The two former were NK'ed in the first two nights without being used and the survivor was Modkilled Day 6 from inactivity. The only one effectively used was the hider. This kind of made me sad, but I'm glad it didn't affect the game too much.
I found it ironic that my game was filled with people lurking when I'm usually a lurker myself.

We thought you were the roleblocker. Not realizing it could have been a roleblocker + doctor pair, I figured the roleblocker would be suspecting me after a no kill night. Since you did, and HE7 didn't, we killed you (that is also why I pushed the "the mafia probably shot at FL" idea: I figured someone would claim to have blocked me, and I needed another theory).
And props to Alx figuring out HE7 was a power role all of 1 night after HE7 replaced in. Too bad he blocked our attempt to kill him for it.
And props to Alx figuring out HE7 was a power role
In fairness, it wasn't too hard. At this juncture, everyone was a power role. The trick was figuring out who's what.
However, Jobie, you may want in the future not to replace a player immediately after night without him asking for it - this makes it clear the player in question is replaced because he missed a night choice.

Off of this point, I would like to apologize to FO. I replaced him because he wasn't be insanely active in the thread and missed two night choices (as in didn't send one in after I asked him for it). As I said, I apologize for replacing you in a slightly unfair manner.
Ninja Edit: When the roles were distributed I found a humorous coincidence. Puzzle got the Mafia RB with a depression motive, the same as in Random 2.

But seriously - if you don't want that to happen it's vital that you give your SK better cover. I had a kill method firmly associated with my rolename. With absolutely zero concept of what info roles were in the game, just staying quiet would have been suicide.
The idea of playing Mafia is to win. As SK, you gain nothing for surviving five days if you're going to be auto-lynched as soon as the Cop gets around to investigating you.
Not that I minded the setup - this whole game seemed well put together - but the function of an SK isn't just to randomly kill a few people and then curl up and die. SKs are players too!

I tend to agree, actually. To stand the remotest chance, an SK really needs some kind of protection from kills, or investigations, or both. Not that they deserve to have the same chance of winning as the town or mafia. That's what makes the occasional SK wins so epic.
This game was massively annoying for me, cause I screwed up major league. When I replaced into the game, given the lynch pairs that seemed to be accepted, it looked like the best play was to try and get myself lynched whilst at the same time distancing myself from Ande, which is why I refused to post cases, and just generally acted like an ass. I also tried to insult Hawkeyes quality of play, in the hope that he would be more confident the next day, as he seemed fairly confident of Pod+AH. Of course, the massive screwup was that I forgot hawkeye was a roleblocker, and just after doing that I thought I'd pretty much lost the game for the scum. Pretty much my only chance was to try and speed the game through and end the day before HE could say who he was going to block. Luckily Ande pulled off the win, and kudos to him.
I owe you an apology Pod.
I mistakenly credited Alx2 with your very good playing after you replaced Alx2 at the end of the game.
You replaced into a very difficult position. Alx2 was obviously mafia but you were able to take the evolving situation, AH’s poor play, andelijah’s very good play and skillfully contribute to making AH look even more scummy.
Sorry for the mix up.
Well done.

Call me biased, but it was refreshing to see a non-AzWolging vig for a change. You know, one who actually managed to restrain himself from going on a murderous spree and killing only those who need to be.
I had Ande pegged as scum until I reread him and found his play after replacing in so townish. Much props to Ande for that. I was hoping for something to jump out at me like it did for Alx2/Pod, to show Scumminess one way or the other, but nothing did.

I understand why you did it, but I was active enough in the thread taht my lack of night choice should not have been an issue. In actuality, I didn't want to use my night choice either of those nights because of teh double-edgedness of the ability.
Even after I got replaced, I continued to follow the thread, and I thought Hawkeye did an admirable job as my replacement. I thougt that the suspicion on him was ludicrous, especially if anyone had checked my voting record on how hard I pushed that Ged and Zionite were both scum, and that Alx2 being scum was beyond obvious at one point. On a different note, I thought that AH was the last scum, so congrats to Andelijah on playing an excellent endgame.

It's why I refused to digress into detailed banter that would cause every detail of my mindset to become a known quantity. It's why I never explained.
So here we are, at the end, played to the plan. It only needs to work once more. Lets finish this. Vote: Andelijah.
For example:
You made no case, nor any effort to defend yourself. How was this supposed to help us?
So, as a vanilla who is putting minimal participation into the game (to quote you "I didn't put a lot of time into it"), you felt that the scum killing power roles was better than killing you? Again, how was this supposed to help us? This was one of my main points against you in my original case.

@Andelijah: Yeah, I've been adamant about your lynch since you attacked me. But I was pretty interested before then. Since you replaced into the game with the same profile I've seen mafia use many times. You cant turn this into OMGUS.
But it is OMGUS.
A look at your posts:
You are convinced I am scum on day two. There is no vote or reasons.
I ask you why you think I am scum in the next post (and to try to prove your accusation).
Your next post ignores the question (as do all your posts after that, you never even recognized the question).
After 360 posts where you make no mention of me again, you don't think I'm so scummy anymore. So you're not "interested in me" anymore.

Oh well.

Seriously good game guys.
Thanks for running the game and letting me replace in.

Town LVP: Abandon Hope -- was under the radar and kinda scummy the whole game.
Mafia MVP: Andelijah -- played very well once replacing in and avoided the final lynch
HM: Alx2 -- pulled a doc claim that almost got Hawkeye lynched (which would have caused me to laugh hysterically) and held the Town Cop at bay for four straight nights
Scum LVP: Bateleur -- SK lynched Day 1? ouch.
All comments on the game are welcome.
I'd also like to thank Loran for reviewing my game. It was fun to mod. Though I was standing at the side screaming at the town/mafia at things I noticed.

Ah well. At least I got to participate in the Day 1 bateleur takedown. Good game, everyone.
Edit: Also, I'm fairly certain this was only the second longest game of mafia on MTGS. Romance of the Three Kingdoms went on for about seven months, as I recall.

Haha.
Great game, if a bit long.

In fairness, it wasn't too hard. At this juncture, everyone was a power role. The trick was figuring out who's what.
However, Jobie, you may want in the future not to replace a player immediately after night without him asking for it - this makes it clear the player in question is replaced because he missed a night choice.
QFT x2. I read along for most of it, looked like fun - even if it did take forever.

Lies and vaudeville!
I tend to agree, actually. To stand the remotest chance, an SK really needs some kind of protection from kills, or investigations, or both. Not that they deserve to have the same chance of winning as the town or mafia. That's what makes the occasional SK wins so epic.

Town suffered from laziness until the final act.
I had Ande pegged as scum until I reread him and found his play after replacing in so townish. Much props to Ande for that. I was hoping for something to jump out at me like it did for Alx2/Pod, to show Scumminess one way or the other, but nothing did.
Good Game to all. I'll be taking a break from mafia until my turn to host comes up.
