Heh. Yeah, I should start doing that. But when even DYH didn't seem to have a problem with it, I just decided "what the hell; I'll look good when a real townie gets forced." Which would have been true, had CM ever been able to force a real townie. Fault DYH there for voting him the day before we were going to force someone...
Psh. I guess that shows I shouldn't even trust DYH! What is this world coming to?
A couple of incredibly borked roles that Xyre got away with through sheer luck though (especially the Consultant).
Heh. That's basically my MO at this point (that and topping Az :p).
The modkills obviously had an impact... I think the town would have mislynched at least one of those two, though, so it's very hard for me to say from here whether the town was actually hurt by them or not. Or even helped. I'm sure the people actually in the game have a more informed opinion on that, though.
I took great pains to make sure that, at least superficially, each side benefited from the modkills. Ultimately, I would say it's probably a negligent value, because the combination of a lynch and the ensuing night kill would be about the same, although perhaps the mafia might have hit someone more valuable instead. I was surprised that the first modkill actually upset the mafia, because it cost them a night.
Thank you to everyone who's commented positively on the flavor. I was actually rather frustrated with myself later in the game because I couldn't come up with any deep scenes and so ran with whatever was in my head, although I actually put a bit of time into the last scene for posterity. This isn't my usual genre of writing by any extent, so the positive feedback is awesome.
For those of you interested in more flavor, I will again plug my next game. I've basically all but written a novella for this game to accompany it (provide some mood and a touch of flavor). Right now, it's up to 12050 words including all the business, meaning at 200 wpp, it's a 60 page book, and I'm nowhere near done yet. You won't need to be in the game to enjoy it, but I promise you the game will be innovative to say the least - it bends the concept of traditional mafia to its breaking point. Needless to say, I promise a show.
yeah...I'm sad to say that my attempt at bluffing the vote force instead of using it seemed to singlehandedly kill the mafia one by one. and because of that, this might be my last game on the site, period.
I hope that's not the case, since it's a pretty pathetic way to go out.

That is not really a good reason to quit playing the game, IMO. Yeah..so you made a mistake. You probably don't know him, but there was a guy named chamber that false-claimed mason, *as town*, and then didn't say anything when the person that he claimed as his partner just went along with it. That game went from an inevitable landslide town victory to said person(MMoD), who was of course scum, winning on the last day. You just ran a bad scum plan, and one of your teammates paid for it. And even then, TMT played a large part in you getting busted. It's definitely nothing to quit over.
I read magic mafia, even if it was before my time. My problem is that once I was found out, the mafia literally disintegrated from being at LyLo for days and never being able to get a lynch to hold.
ironically, Chamber was the mod for my first game (code geass mafia) where almost the same thing happened. I tried a gambit, it blew up in my face, and the rest of the mafia was eventually identified from that blow-up (my scum buddies were Fade and DYH, arguably two of the best players on the site)
in short, I'm almost entirely responsible for the mafia not winning, and THAT is why I'm on probie status until I hear otherwise.

You are not responsible for FB and DYH's demise in that game. I caught onto FB, and I don't recall it having very much to do with you. Even if it did, as you said, they're great players, they should have known better than to tie themselves to another scum.
And in this game, lets be frank. The entire mafia played absolutely terribly. Sneaky and SB lurked for basically the entire game. SB messed up his false claim, as well. DYH was suspicious literally from Day 1. Krowzy got lynched two days in a row, and presented an atrociously bad false-claim. Ged chose, on his own, to go along with you. If he thought it was a bad idea, he should have said so. They are responsible for getting themselves lynched. Not you. I could see if you wanted to take some partial responsibility for Ged, but that is where it ends. None of the other scum lynches are your fault.
And I still don't see how putting yourself on probation is the answer. Just learn from your mistakes, and do better next time.
Heh. Yeah, I should start doing that. But when even DYH didn't seem to have a problem with it, I just decided "what the hell; I'll look good when a real townie gets forced." So I guess that's why you sent me a PM commending me on my play?
The one where I said that you did a convincing job of fooling us into thinking you were the SK? The well played there was in regard to that. I had you pegged as a neutral since Day 1, but I didn't feel like you were sufficiently exposed enough until after the Jerub incident.
To clarify, you did a good job of not appearing to be mafia. You pursued CM vigorously, and pursued Jerub with the same vigor. But you still seemed scummy(in the neutral sense) overall. This has come up before, but, I will *never* post that I suspect you of being the SK until I'm ready to do something with it, even if it means having to defend you, to some extent(like I did in this game). I've made that mistake in the past, and always end up dying for it. I've found that I can get away with making casual comments about your scumminess if I think you're mafia, but, not when you are(or at least I think you are) solely responsible for submitting an NK. We've played in too many games together.

Charm Master, don't get too bent out about making major errors. Cyan lost two unloseable games for the town last year, firstly he lost DOTA by hammering someone when letting me hammer = mathematical forced win for the town and then he lost Kung Fu by convincing the town to do the exact one thing which was the only way the scum could win (a no lynch).
For all the bashing Cyan gets though, I reckon he has actually learned from that and played a lot better this year.
The moral of this story is:
- Don't leave just because you made a couple of mistakes; and
- It's not actually all you (e.g. Kung Fu was also lost because the rest of the surviving town went along with Cyan, and me and Hawkeye did a brilliant job of engineering a situation where it was even possible for the town to screw up; DOTA was also lost because the town had played collectively dumb for several days and the mafia had a BS recruiting ability and used it on the town cop)
I'll take responsibility for Kung Fu(even though CPE, or whomever it was, should have been smart enough to see that someone was targetting him on the fatal night but not actually kill them, as this was confirmation enough that the other person's claimed role was real), but the town lost DotA because the scum were allowed a no-restriction recruitment, where no indication that a recruitment might be possible/have happened was ever provided, and recruited the Cop.
But RafK is right. Everyone makes mistakes, even mistakes that cost your side the game. You just have to learn from it and move on. Quitting doesn't help you any in the long run.
Welcome! Yes, absolutely fine to talk in endgame without being in the game.
You'll have plenty of time before the next Xyre game unless he gets one fast-tracked. It seems to take 18 months or so for mods to get their next turn on the specialty list But hopefully specialty games by other mods are just as enjoyable for you... mine's coming up soon if it helps (although I don't write flavour like he does...).
There are several different queues that tick over at different speeds. Xyre happened to be on more than one of them.

Maybe. I forgot about that. Although I think that situation is fairly optimistic. Do you think you would have recruited him that last night?
EDIT: And if I were RobRoy, here's what I would do were I recruited that night.
1) RobRoy doesn't kill anyone, gets a point.
2) RobRoy and Zion lynch Xyre, bringing in goat.
3) RobRoy uses a point to make himself bouncy.
4) No matter who SB kills, it's not RobRoy, leaving 1 townie, 1 SK, and 1 other come morning, at which point RobRoy wins the same way.
It's a somewhat optimistic scenario, but still a possibility. Had I recruited RR, here's what would have probably happened.
Rob Roy shoots Stormblind during the day, and he and Zionite lynch Xyre (I assume the game would continue since neither have met their win con?). I then enter the game. The next day is me, Zionite, and RR. It would basically come down to a race of who gets to the thread first. If Zionite and myself can get there and lynch RR before he kills one of us, then we win, otherwise he shoots one of us and he wins.
If I'm recruited for the last day, I can't afford to shoot anyone. I don't want Zionite to wise up that he's lost the game, and suicide to deny me the chance to off Xyre. He almost certainly goes along with the plan to lynch Xyre, though. And I don't think the situation changes if StormBlind chooses not to shoot anyone that night, so that we go back to day with 4 players - I can still shoot someone and get an extra vote to force the lynch, and given that I trust Zionite's claim the most, he's the one I leave alive.
@Cyan: Yeah, I'd normally just kill you ( ), but we figured after the first two days with you leading the crusade against townies there wasn't a need to yet. Unfortunately, your ever-expanding role really hurt us in the long run.
*Every* other revealed role had the word 'the' before the person's title. It's not alot, but, it was enough that I was going to investigate you, which would have caught you. Chances are I would have been the first to post, and would have simply lynched you outright before anyone(like the SK) could even do anything.
To be fair, I doubt I would have investigated RobRoy anyway, instead I would have chosen one of the replacements. That's the only thing that I'm mad about overall with this game, the flavor scenes were quite clearly written with the intent of being relevant to the game, and every scene gave the absolute impression that the SK was not in the room. I still don't see *how* it was RobRoy, when you take the various flavor scenes into consideration.
I have to say though, 6 mafia and an SK vs. 16 town seems to favor the scum rather heavily. Sneaky subbing in as a mafia replacement certainly didn't help matters either.
Overall, while I didn't play exceptional by any stretch of the imagination, I didn't feel like I did too bad for my second game, particularly considering how complex this one was. In fact, I'm quite happy I lived as long as I did. I was pretty dejected when I first saw my role PM since I had to not only win with the town, but also live till the end. I had hoped pretending to be vanilla after I claimed would keep me alive since I would seem less threatening. Didn't work out though.

"You didn't do too bad"? You were probably the most obvious townie in the game. Congratulations.
