DAY 4
Now, whether or not Cyan was right for the wrong reasons or not, I don't know, and I don't care. Yes, he had one of the most powerful SK roles evar. Still, he ABSOLUTELY deserves this win, and he is EASILY my pick for Player of the Year. Seriously. The bottom line is that he tore the mafia apart around this time, and I constantly found myself in complete awe of just how RIGHT he ended up being in every aspect of his play. He pushed Jobie and mmod, stayed on desCoures, and even called out ande at one point.
Seriously.
I will agree that Cyan's "balls to the walls" play also left me in awe after I was lynched. However, it was a bit out of character for Cyan. It was a very, very different level of bluntness than usual.
Oh ****, my laundry, is almost done, then rehearsal, be back tonight.

What I do not understand, was why desCoures sent Carbuncle to Ged. Had he protected Kraj(his only known Mafia ally) Kraj would have lived, and Ged would have died. Instead, he protected a townie(and successfully stopped a kill) and left his scum buddy hanging. That alone could have changed the out come of the game.
The short answer is that we had absolutely zero reason to believe I was in any danger at night, and the priority was maintaining solid claims. DC needed to be able to justify his targets and if he aligned himself with me via a night action and then one of us died it was 100% game over.
To elaborate a little further, when I replaced I had to absorb a ton of information. I had expected to basically be a warm body to avoid a townie modkill, I did not expect to have to dive into the responsibility of being the lone mafia. In the process of catching up, I overlooked the nuances of my role PM that suggested a second group of mafia allies was out there. Based on all the info available, I believed that the traitors were the remaining potential mafia, which meant DC and I had a maximum of one remaining ally. That affected our mindsets greatly, since we had to play as town-like as possible, which included seperating our play as much as possible. We hardly spoke, exchanged no information that wasn't essential, etc.

In my defense, going into the last day I was sure I was screwed. Cyan did not die, and we decided to kill him because town would flounder around without him. I was 50-50 going in the day between Cyan/WoD being Seph, since one of them had to be. Ged was going down, and the only other target was me, no arguments from me. Cyan's behaviour seemed fairly telling to me at the end, and the only thing holding me back was that AR semi-confirmed him as Hojo and the fact that I couldn't pin it on him. There was no way I could get WoD or Cyan lynched, and it'd probably blow up in my face.
I had a slimmer of hope that Ged was Cloud, and so SSB would shoot WoD, and I could easily get WoD lynched with Cyanthe next day and Mafia would win, but then Seph was unkillable so =/.
I killed SSB hoping that Seph would win (which Cyan did, congrats btw, you played an awesome game), so I simply didn't want town to win (spited, though Cyan probably would've won anyways).
Wow... Surprises all around. Among the other things I've learned this game, it's that even with sane cops, investigations can be "wrong." Nasty. I like how Cyan even pointed out in-game how nuts faking an investigation would be. Well of course he would, but you know what I mean.
My role was fun obviously, and after I picked up that 1-time NK immunity, Sephiroth was my only real fear. Naturally, that's how I would go out. I'm not sure why Cyan killed me when he did, which is why I was particularly surprised by it being him. I suppose I had done my bit by confirming him.
Not much to say other than: Thanks for letting steals go before nks, CC!

Welcome to the club of fans that have been attacked by the game they love most.
I'm actually fairly glad Sephiroth won. Tanarin was modkilled, Tilde was wagoned by Rafk, Rafk, Zionite, SB were killed by Cyan, Cyan fairly heavily led the lynches/last NK on dC, Jobie, mmod, and SB convinced SSB to shoot myself and Kraj. I don't think the real town got any scum.

Well, fadeblue technically had tanarin and bateleur in his sights -- although bateleur had already been pushed to the brink by myself and Cyan. I'm still vaguely annoyed I ended up drawing attention to MMoD. -_-

WOW! impressive. So, both fox and I fail at mafia as we thought we was the cult, and were impressed when i was not lynched. Then i return to the thread to see the real cult dead and I die x_x. Well done Cyan and AR though I did not follow the game much after the mega daykill.

<hotshizle> WINE IN FRONT OF MEAL
<hotshizle> i think
As I commented to one or both mods at some point during the game, I felt Cyan was obviously playing like a guy with NK protection and that he must be Sephiroth (Cyan was so "confirmed" and likely to lynch whoever he turned his gaze on that there's no way Sephiroth could have let him live if Cyan was actually town, too). However, the fact that he was lynching scum did generally blind people to the fact that he could be a different kind of scum. One or two people made the connection way too late, and the mafia's smearing of WoD ended up working in Cyan's favour.
If I'd had NK protection I'd have tried the same tactic... instead, I was trying to make myself suspicious enough the mafia wouldn't come for me, relying on my minions and natural skill to avoid being lynched myself. Well, I didn't get lynched!
Kill protection, safe-claim, day-kills rather than night and averaging more than one per day is pretty strong. Makes me jealous, both times I've had SK it has been a sad, crippled thing. I think my cult role was very strong in this, incidentally, but the day-kill was an achilles heel I had no way to avoid. If Cyan hadn't killed me day 3 I think I could have won before he got another shot so that's reasonable enough.
You'd know that face anywhere. A wicked grin stretches across his face.
"It's time." he says, retrieving his blade from the chair.
With one quick motion, Fadeblue, Shelke, the Transparent - Scribe/Cop has lost her head.
"Did you think I was done?" he snarls.
Chaotic cries rise from the group.
Zionite is the next to perish, her head also cleanly removed from her body. Zionite, Aerith Gainsborough, Flower Girl, Mafia Ally is dead. A white materia falls from her hands and shatters on the ground.
Sephiroth seems quite pleased with himself, but the twisted killer is not yet done.
Sheer panic has erupted.
Holding his blade in two hands, he drives it straight through RafaelK, Maleficient - Heartless Cult Leader, killing him instantly. He smiles with glee as two additional souls die as a result, bateleur, Heartless Guard Hound Keeper - Cultist and Xyre, Reno's Heartless - Cultist follow suit with their master.
The room goes dark. He is still among you, you should be afraid.
Even as the lights come back, you are still very, very afraid.
Votes have been reset.
With 17 alive, it is 9 to lynch.
You may resume posting (if you're alive).
This was the one from Day 3, and five people died.
I'm not sure whether that comment was meant to say it's a good thing or a bad thing, but I think the way Sephiroth was designed - basically guranteeing a minimum of 4 SK kills due to his near-unkillability prior to the day he could first kill - was a great way to compensate for the large game. (Or making the game so large was a great way to enable Sephiroth's design without his presence ruining the game.)
Overall I think this game was really well designed.

Well, 3.5 months is really short for a game, let alone a game with more players in it than I've ever seen.
It seems as though it was well-designed to hold the interest of the players and eliminate mod-kills, but unforunately, people still needed to be modkilled.
Like seriously, Cyan killed a third of the game by himself...
Oh, and since people did wonder at the time- bateleur was my first recruit (to be an adviser), Xyre was my 2nd (to get info on the Turks and to disrupt them). bat then drove me nuts by drawing attention with unpopular arguments and refusing to shut up I tried to recruit fade as my 3rd recruit to salvage the situation with bat and to get at the information he was claiming, but we halfway expected that to fail and it did... although we thought it might have failed because fade was scum.
As it happened, Tilde was always on the radar for recruitment so I could send him out to do crazy things on the basis he might actually get away with it, but obv that wouldn't have worked either! As was Cyan so he would bulldog people who weren't us, and that wouldn't have worked either either!
I'd like to quote a couple of things that made the sign up thread so enjoyable. Hopefully, with the game revealed, some of you will lol as much as I did.

Hey, I've finalized all the roles, are you ready to review the finished product?
Sure, no problem! Send it over to me and I'll take a peek.
Here ya go!
Wow, that's awesome! I can't believe you worked in that day-vig "You!" role that we discussed. Day One will only take like 4 minutes!
Won't it be awesome?
This came from my inbox, honest.

SK role... I've had that once. Twas fun killing those i didnt like. The SK is just designed to be a fun, cant win role.

Sorry, in addition to having a daykill everyday, I'm unlynchable. I'm Cloud Strife, if you lynch me I will simply be replaced by a clone of myself and continue on as normal.

Love daytalk
That gives me some more options, since without that I would need my first cultist to be one who won't do anything dumb before I can talk to them. I'll get back to you guys.
I was going to choose Tilde, but I might save that for day 2 and see what he can manage all by himself. A cultist who can claim cop, get a mislynch AND POSSIBLY GET AWAY WITH IT because that's just how wacky he is has a certain bite to it... but I don't think, on reflection, that I need that available on day 1.
I might end up going for bateleur as an adviser, or fade or Cyan to keep them out of my hair...
Very funny to know that 75% of your options would fail, but fortunately, you went for the one that wouldn't.
You didn't do anything to get NKed, I just killed you because you're a high caliber player, and people tend to listen to you. There weren't alot of players in this game that I thought would 'take the lead', so to speak, if it came down to it. But you're definitely one..so is FB. So I acted accordingly.
