That would also solve the issue where DYH was able to use one of his acquired abilities at night and then still Vig somebody...he would have to have chosen which ability to use at night.
He did, until very late- being able to do both was a special ability he gained by killing so many people.
Daykills have been handed out a bunch on this site lately..too much, I think. A daykill is extremely powerful.
Yeah, it is, but I think it was an integral part of the design that the scum had access to that as an emergency workaround. DYH's ability was restricted, but had I made it night-only I would have had to turn up the town's power somewhere else. I also liked the DYH-L-Misa setup as a flashpoint for conversation and for power in the town. Misa's early find of Light and then death took some sting out but it still worked pretty well.
But yeah, I will also caution against using daykills indiscriminately in setups, just like I would caution against indiscriminate SKs and indiscriminate unkillables. Got to be careful with those things. I'm a trained professional munchkin with years of experience, don't imitate this at home kids
I won't argue much about the setup, mostly because I haven't actually read it it all.
I just want to say that when DYH killed ~, I was half happy half sad. ~ made me so happy with his paranoid theories and especially because I did actually believe that DYH was a SK. That shpiel I did out in the beginning was actually my real thoughts. When DYH shot ~, I was happy since well, a townie was dead, and I could win, but sad since there went any chance I had of a mislynch on DYH.
This was a very fun game. I liked the setup. I suck at claim analysis anyway, so it's fun to play a game designed to limit the effectiveness of that tool.
I agree partially with RafK about changes to TFO's role. The retaliator is fine in my opinion, and I like the idea of changing the ability names so things are fuzzier. It would have made things dicier for me on Day Two (but I wasn't dead in the water...I'm confident I could have made good things happen for the town in that situation).
I disliked the slowdown from the town in the later days (myself at the head of that line). It sucks when folks get too busy to play, but it is only a game after all. Fortunately it didn't come back to bite us.
Props to TFO, who I thought made a good call at the right time in demanding his own daykill. He had been under minor suspicion, and knowing that he could clear someone and make his information gold through his death he didn't hesitate. Nice teamwork. Also props to WoD for reasons other folks have already outlined. DYH also played well.
Ande and MMoD played very well, I thought. Both of those guys are difficult for me to read for different reasons.
I didn't play all that well, but I enjoyed myself a great deal.
Really, I thought we had things fairly well under control. With the two killing roles we had left, it was just a question of not being hasty about whichever way we went at the end. I knew it was going to be close because it often is with aggressive vigging. It's just knowing when it's time to stop, I think.
