In the Great Manga Libary, each story takes place inside a sacred Original Book, and the stories play out for anybody in our world to view in our normal bookstore copies. But one day there is an earthquake, and the Original Books all fall from the ground. Some characters take the opportunity to get out the manga... Smells like a sitcom game of mafia!
17 characters got out of the manga. Unfortunately, there are no lights in the Great Manga Library (no human ever comes in), so you can't see who each other are...
1. Votes and unvotes must be bolded to count.
2. Unless you have been explicitly told by the moderator that you may communicate via PM with a particular person or group, do not PM anybody in this game. Even if allowed, PMs are only permissible during the night.
3. Quoting or writing out portions in my exact words of the role PMs is not allowed. Paraphrasing is allowed.
4. Failure to Unvote before performing a vote will result in the vote not being counted.
5. Each group's win condition(s) are in their role PMs, they win when those condition(s) are achieved. Any group loses when any other group wins, unless both groups win at the same time.
6. A simple majority of votes will result in a lynch, regardless of how quickly unvotes are performed afterwards. If the majority votes No Lynch, the day will end immediately.
7. Any edit or deletion of posts, in any case, for any reason, is grounds for an instant modkill.
8. Any posting or other communication (including through PMs) is not allowed after death, even with other dead players.
9. After 48 hours of inactivity, a player will be prodded. If there is no response within an additional 48 hours, the player will be replaced. If you will be absent for 48 hours or longer, you must notify the moderator via a PM or post in the thread. The moderator will decide whether replacement will be necessary.
10. 24 hours before night choices are set to end, I will send a reminder to any players who have not submitted night actions. All night choices must be submitted by the posted deadline to be counted. Please send in No Action to the moderator if you choose not to take action in a night, to avoid unnecessary reminders.
11. Vote counts will be posted at regular intervals. You can request one more quickly by including in a post the bolded text VoteCount.
12. Please respect your fellow players and your moderator. Modkills or replacements may be performed at the moderator's discretion if I feel that they are necessary to maintain order and smooth play.
You are Chihiro from Spirited Away. Thrown from your quest to save your parents into the real world, you're still just a little child.

The sun begins to rise through the single window of the Library. With just enough light to make out each other's shapes (and as much light as there will ever be in the Library), it is time to begin weeding out the villains. If they escaped into the human world, nobody knows the damage it could cause.
The shapes begin discussion. Somehow they must eliminate the dark forces. An unknown voice cries out, "Lynch them! Kill them! Burn them!" The Town (for that is what the group was beginning to call themselves) hesitantly agrees. But now they need to figure out who the evil ones are, before they're killed at night by the vile assassins.
With only a short time before night falls again, the debate begins...
It is now Day 1.
Two players have not confirmed. They will be prodded if they do not post within 24 hours.
It got squeezed by Mirrodin's unbalanced overpoweredness on one side, and Ravnica's multicolor theme on the other (at a time when multicolor was not yet run into the ground). It was the bad block the entire time it was in Standard, and the Mirrodin-Kamigawa standard season was easily one of the worst EVER (drove me out of Magic for years, and I know many others in that boat). Even though that's Mirrodin's fault mostly, Kamigawa was too big a correction to the power curve. They overdid it with the nerf bat.
It didn't help that the core mechanics like Arcane and Spiritcraft weren't pushed hard enough to even be strong in block constructed.
since it needs to be brought up, thoughts on a source claim?
also, I'm a miller. don't investigate me plzkthx.

I'm cool with a source claim, but I really don't see what it accomplishes. The idea is to restrict the scum in making a fake claim later, no? Does that even work? or is there some other reason that I'm just missing? Anyway's I'm down with it
I'm going to file the source claim in the same file as first letter claim in Dictionary. It really doesn't limit the scum any on their claims. I know that I'm not a main character (really) in my series, and I'm sure it's the same for multiple people.

Not sure if it even works or what it accomplishes? Jumping in blindly?? Yeah I want to follow you down that path. Vote stands.
No objection to a source claim. In general I find these sorts of soft claims do tend to end up helping, as long as they aren't so specific they give stuff away (and as Emo Pinata said, there's not just going to be major characters here so someone being from "Detective Conan" for example doesn't mean they're a cop). I also tend to find that townies are more likely to have been given small amounts of information (e.g. "you know the evil A is in this game" or "your friend X, a guaranteed townie, is in the game") or minor roles like namecops and stuff which can take advantage of these claims.
It also makes the scum have to at least consider false claims right here right now before they know much, before they even know how their kills will be described, which can sometimes be a bit of a giveaway... which brings me to one of my all-time favourite mafia game quotes:
I'm thinking about changing my text color to this. What does everybody think?
LOL j/k.
Anyways....
About the source claim...aren't there infinite mangas the scum could choose from? I'm down with source claiming, but it seems like there is a lot of wiggle room where they could just pick some super obscure manga and pick a character from there and build a fake claim up from that.
I dunno, I've just never been in a game where we've done that so I don't know how effective it is.
I'm amused that [Shalako], of all people, are talking about terrible reasoning. "Hey, PF's RVS daykill must be serious, therefore I should shoot him to prove that I have a daykill!"
Not sure if it even works or what it accomplishes? Jumping in blindly?? Yeah I want to follow you down that path. Vote stands.
Wow, this seems completely unnecessary. I'm asking a valid question. I don't see any reason why not, but I at the same time did not see what it actually does. I'm glad you like attacking player rather than answer questions. FoS: Archmage Eternal

That makes sense, it accomplishes pretty much what I suspected. Glad some people are helpful. So I assume we're waiting for the town to agree at this point.
I'm curious why someone wants to source-claim right out of the gate, barely out of random voting phase. I understand that source-claiming doesn't help anyone too much, and only breadcrumbs for later, but its interesting that we're already discussing a mass claim (even if a minor one) on page 2.
Was this serious? (I'm not making anything of it, I just don't want any misunderstandings)
yes, it's serious.
as for the rest of us claiming, I was going to do it on random.org. anyone object?

That's fine for now. There's no need to draw him further on the claim. FWIW it's an article of the faith that millers need to claim day 1 or be disbelieved automatically, so it's a good sign he has come out now.
Much as we only have Charm's word for the random order, I don't see it as particularly worse than any other, so have it.
One caution- wait until all claims are done before commenting on stuff. If anyone has reason to suspect or to clear particular claims, no hints until EVERYONE has soft-claimed. This should be common sense, but there's always someone who can't wait to say their piece.

Night 0 is an actionless night. Any roles that can converse during the night can PM until Day 1 starts.
Role PMs will be going out within the next hour.
Day 1 starts at 12 noon on Sunday, May 10.

With 17 alive, it's 9 to lynch.
obviously scum
vote RafaelK
Vote: Greymon90210 for being number one on the list. Much have been doing something pretty scum to be there.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
Vote Slio9 for screwing me up.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
Vote: Archmage Eternal
Not an OMGUS, its because he's been the first day's lynch in every other game I've played with him and I wanna keep that streak alive! lol
They hate us cause they ain't us.
"...a talisman against all evil, so long as you obey me."
Its worked pretty well so far lol. Ok...so we're only 1 for 3 in catching you as scum, but we're 3/3 in hilarity!
Lurker lynch.
Oh damn.....vig me, vig me now.
They hate us cause they ain't us.
I think we've found our scumbuddies trying to bus AE.
daykill Archmage_Eternal
And once more, I refuse to take part in random voting.
My helpdesk should you need me.
Unvote Nai, Vote Ace for pretending to have a daykill.
Unvote Ace, Vote Wrath_of_Dog for presuming I'm a lurker.
Unvote because we're not going to waste our vote on this silliness this early in the game.
Note to self: Your mafia theories are usually wrong, so don't act on them.
My helpdesk should you need me.
Unvote, Vote: Oni Kuma for making me think about Kamigawa again.
Daykilling is where it's at.
And what's so wrong about Kamigawa? I had a lot of fun with that block.
It got squeezed by Mirrodin's unbalanced overpoweredness on one side, and Ravnica's multicolor theme on the other (at a time when multicolor was not yet run into the ground).
