'Tis, actually. More accurately, it depends on why one was reading it. Scum have more reason to look over the player list than town (although everyone has reason to know who else is in the game).
But both have reason to look at it, and noticing your own name is spelled wrong has got to be one of the first things that stands out.
I'm sure you know what it means. The way you're talking isn't at all how I remember you in Star Trek EU Mafia.
I didn't notice any difference but if you're going to meta me then do it properly: i.e. don't just try to recall 1 town game from a long time ago and decide I'm scum, read several games of mine both town and scum and come back to me.
I didn't choose any words at all concerning DYH until you brought him up. And even then, I only asked what this had to do with DYH...
Yeah, typo, Only just realized this when DYH brought it up.
Also, the reasoning is here:
I don't agree with it. But it is there, so I fail to understand why you don't see it...
I can read also. But you assumed that was serious reasoning and then decided not to agree with it while the response I had was that there was no serious reasoning there.
Again, why would you assume that there was something serious there if you didn't get it? If you can't understand where he would be coming from in a serious perspective doesn't it make sense to then assume that it's not serious.
All we had up to that point was random nonsense. PM posts something that you don't understand the logic behind. Why do you assume it's a departure from the random stage and you just don't get it as opposed to thinking that it's still part of the random?
Automatically assuming that PM's vote was a serious one.
That's a mistake, it's supposed to say PM.
Strange is only attacking the reasoning. As in the reasoning is strange but the attacker did nothing scummy.
How could you think it was not?
But, see, I thought PM's vote was serious. He quoted both self-voting posts, explained that he'd been deprived of information (albeit tiny for not selecting someone else to random vote), and then stated another issue he had. I'm not sure where "joke" fits into any of that.
I don't get where you're going with Chris on that line of thought... are you insinuating he should've attacked PM in response for making a scummy attack on him, rather than just saying it was strange?
As for Chris, I'd say the general tone of his posts is more suspicious than the actual content.
I totally thought PM was joking (I think it might've been his quoting of your post that made me think it) and that Chris was overreacting, vote was for that and mostly to fish for reactions.
Original post in question now seems fine, but something about him still feels off.
This. I have yet to see anything scummy from ChisXIV.
As for reading the player lists, I do that in order to find a "reason" for random voting. Like voting keeperofzion for keeping zion from us.
Other things I noticed:
ZeDorkSlippeur's name was shortened to ZDS, while DYH's name was expanded to Disrupt Your Hymn.
Replace ZeDorkSlippeur in the above with Mystery Meat of Doom.
Seppel is spelled with a Z. (I think everyone noticed that)
My name has both "B"s capitalized, instead of just one.
Nothing scummy about reading, is there?
I think what you fail at realizing is the wagon is not forming because of the original reasons behind the PM vote, but for the reactions and content after the initial vote from Chris
Har Har. Interesting game so far. I think the Chris wagon was total BS, but the post that really doesnt sit right with me is SKs. It seems like he is insulting the wagon without directly commenting on it, and it doesnt seem to sit right. So, Unvote, Vote Shadow Knight

Well when you put it like that it doesn't make so much sense. But not so much attack him as engage him. I think that put in the same situation I would have confronted PM about the attack. Ask him questions about it, make him explain how it's scummy etc. The way that Chris just sort of accepts the attack but it calls it strange, seems wrong to me. Did I not say that I had yet to see anything scummy from Chris? Short answer: I did. Chris is obviously a confused townie, and I would be just as confused in his position. Your inability to read has been noted.:teach:
@SK: Could you elaborate on that post, please? I seem to have missed the point of it.
OMG, this let me make sure I spellcheck. Should be rename this grammar nazi mafia? He said something in a non-confrontational way. He did? Scumzors!!
Where exactly do grammar and spelling fit there? You seem to be deliberately downplaying the attack on Chris.
unvote, vote Shadow Knight
Chris: thanks for posting a list of past games, but I don't really want to read through them all. Can you please narrow it down to an incident where you were attacked for less-than-convincing reasons.
I don't see the case on Chris at all, but I'll reserve judgement on Skander until he's posted a bit more. I'm personally not liking alx. His nudge toward SK seems a bit forced--especially when creampuffeater posted the exact same thing five posts vefore him.
I don't know if nom is town or scum. But I'd like to point out this type of behavior is his standard modus operandi.
Court Mafia: Day 1, hatch plan to KILL EVERYONE ELSE IN A SINGLE NIGHT, when the plan only allows him to hit 11 random players, ATTEMPTS TO FIRE ANYHOW (Roleblocked).
In other words....Nom is an impulsive player who doesn't think about planning long-term or listening to others. I wouldn't be surprised if he was town. At all.

Sure, I'll elaborate. I think that was an incredibly crap reason to attack someone. I don't expect elaborate analysis on day one, but c'mon. The entire case as I read it is "Chrisscum was looking over the player list for a long time because he's scum and needs to figure out which of the great and powerful mafiaplayers he should kill night 1 before the day even starts, lets lynch him."
What I think happened is that Chris checked the list to see who he should vote for in the RVS and noticed his name was spelled wrong and figured that if he voted himself, it would be a funny way to let the mod know. Maybe I'm not normal, but it didn't take hours of reading to notice the mod also mispelled my name in the vote count.
I find the speed at which people started voting him then me to be interesting, and I'll be starting my investigation with the vote hoppers.

And what is your take on him posting that in a funny way twice?
Well personally, if I got serious voted for random voting myself my reaction would be "lolwat are you serious, that is fricking ridiculous", which you did but only to an extent. What threw me off was the part where you unvoted and said what to me read as "well it's strange being voted for cause I noticed my name was misspelled, but I'll unvote so it will get you to not pay any more attention to me"
I read this, and it makes no sence? huh. am I missing something? i don;t see how this is worth a vote?
Correction: Reading the player list. Multiple times. And using the mod mistake as an invitation not to participate by voting for yourself twice. Once is funny and random. Twice is avoidance.
Understand now?
@Alx2 - A cleared townie.
still don't see how that makes chris worth voting for.
Two reasons. He voted for himself twice. He voted himself over a misspelling, which tells me he was looking over the player list. It's nothing solid, but worth a jab to see what happens.
Bonus points if you can tell me why looking over the player list is a possible tell.
Do you actually believe said reason, or are you just making it up because Pale Mage asked?
Exactly. After PM said that I tried to figure out what he could be talking about and came up with something that seemed sort of possible. Had PM not said anything I never would have thought of it.
ok, the long winded explantion is pointless here. you answer yes, then explain how you did what you were just asked if you did. why? is there anything helpful here, no. the entire post is padding. waste of time, and scummy. UnVote, Vote Skander much better first wagon.
Really? Are you kidding me? Chris' reaction was scummy. But then suddenly it turns out you actually were serious with something that I had assumed was a random vote. This changes things. When I thought it was a random vote I was fine with it but as a serious vote it's a bad reason to vote someone.

I am 100% in favor of the wagon on Chris. Though 'he looked at the player list twice' isn't the most immediately compelling reason to vote someone, it can be. More relevant than the fact that he looked at it twice is the fact that he brought up that he looked at it twice.
More telling than any of that(which is somewhat obscure, to be fair), is Chris' reaction to his wagon. His reaction is extremely scummy. I'll try to put together some details as to why, I just read his response posts and the first thought that came to me was 'zomg scum'. Vote Chris

No, but you did focus most of your post on the player list analysis, as if that were the main part of the case. OFC, i'm sure with your douche goggles on you failed to consider that while you posted
The rest of his post looked serious to me and I hope this answers your questions.
@Alx2: Let me think...less-than-convincing reasons...there was that incident in Newb #30(starting at this page) where I nearly self-destructed because I thought the attack on me was based on less-than-convincing reasons. Is that good enough for you?

EBWODP- And for the record, my second post of the game was half joking because I couldn't believe an actual bandwagon was forming on Chris and half serious/annoyed because I couldn't believe an actual bandwagon was forming on Chris. I see nothing wrong with him posting his vote on himself twice. The mad said votes don't count before the start of the day, so I would have read that as he was ignoring them and thus, I needed to point it out again. Seriously people, it wasn't scummy.
MTGS stats (won/played)

As town - 5/7
As neutral - none

I'm amused that [Shalako], of all people, are talking about terrible reasoning. "Hey, PF's RVS daykill must be serious, therefore I should shoot him to prove that I have a daykill!"
As you feel compelled to point out in every post...
I suppose I should be mad that you aren't going to listen to my advice about meta'ing but I'd rather ask you what exactly strikes you as different about my posting here as opposed to my posting in Ster Trek. Be specific.
Also, I know you are scum since you haven't yet said that you're town.

I'm in agreement on the Skander wagon; his reaction to pressure, responses, and follow-up questions have moved him off my radar. It's been awhile since I've played with Alx, but I remember him (her?) acting coy regardless of alignment.
I could get behind a Pale Mage wagon... except he's posting as his normal town self.
hahaha, here's what my notes even say:
Kpaca: Town
MMOD: Town
Pale Mage: So very Town
Bilbo: Town
Fully agree with you on Pale Mage. Good feelings about kpaca, indifferent on MMoD and Bilbro.
I'm keeping my vote on Chris; the intial vote reasoning wasn't good - it rarely is day one - but as I mentioned previously, it's moreso the tone of his responses than the content. He seems very nervous.
A quick smack upside the back of a head, ala Gibbs from NCIS.
This is the second time someone has said this about Skander. Please elaborate on the differences between Skander now and before.
Before he left his posts seemed more...conscientious (don't know if I've spelled that correctly). His new posts are kind of lacking that. Still, it could just be rust.
Okay, so I am finally caught up with reading. 8 or something pages when I only missed a day and a half?
Anyways. I see Chris as being half and half, a little on the scummy side, but not by much. This includes the double self voting, the fact that he said he checked then names twice, the reactions, so on. It is the reaction that seems a bit scummy but not to an extent that warrants a vote or even an FoS. Yes, I thought he overreacted a bit but I think I would do the same in his shoes. I usually only play in smaller sized games so 3 votes on me Day 1 is enough for that kind of reaction. This is the biggest game (I think) that I have played in so I would probably still be in 12 player game mode and say "ZOMG, I have 3 votes!!!".
Now, moving on to name scouring. I really think that it is only a slight scum tell. It could be perceived that scum do it to find highprofile names to kill on Night 1. But going back to the Chris thing, I think it was just a joke at first and then reiterating the joke again the second time.
As far as the Skander wagon, I actually agree with it.
Do you actually believe said reason, or are you just making it up because Pale Mage asked?
Exactly. After PM said that I tried to figure out what he could be talking about and came up with something that seemed sort of possible. Had PM not said anything I never would have thought of it.

You did state that if PM never brought up the arguement, you would have not thought about it. But seeing as how PM did bring up the subject of name scouring, you tried to come up with some kind of reason and then knowing that it wasn't a sound reason, you still ran with it. Vote: Skander

Where did I run with it? I didn't use it as a point to vote Chris or attack him, all I said was to PM was that I could sort of see a reason but it wasn't a very good one.
PM: So you were serious, interesting. Now that you ask about looking over the player list I suppose I can sort of see a reason why it might be scummy but it's not really that great of a reason...
Niv: I still don't really understand how overexplaining something is scummy. Where's the scum motivation? I don't get how adding two lines of explanation is trying to make my post look like it is more than it is.
The problem about being able to post only once per day is coming to the thread and seeing all the good points were already made.
Chris' reaction to the initial accusation was somewhat panicked, and that's the only thing that can be legitimately held against him. But, apparently, that's normal for him. So with respect to Chris, I'm back to square one. Not sure, but given the speed of the wagon would be willing to err on the side of town.
So, this brings me to the question "what would scums do"? In the face of this wagon, they would probably be split between (a) trying to get on withoutreally understanding the reasons, and (b) belittling the wagon without offering alternatives.
Skander and Shadow Knight!?

ok, the long winded explantion is pointless here. you answer yes, then explain how you did what you were just asked if you did. why? is there anything helpful here, no. the entire post is padding. waste of time, and scummy. UnVote, Vote Skander much better first wagon.
Vote feels warm and fuzzy, good first wagon.
What the hell is the point of this post.....
Such good posting. really good. but your last post was still useless
Millionaires, I hear it's good Music (Disclaimer: lyrics not PG-13) Thanks, CC
It's not. That's why I Gibbsmacked myself and stopped. I mean, if you want to Gibbsmack me, go ahead, but you'd have to come to Virginia, and that would be more than a little creepy...
Many thanks to Sgt. Chubbz of Damnation studios.
Waste of time maybe. But how is it scummy?
Please explain this one also.
Wow, a quick (possibly inaccurate) search shows that Bil lives like just down the road from me.
Where in Virginia, I'll be in Bristol next week. /redneck canaian NASCAR fan
Well, your post padding, trying to make it look like your post means more than it does. that is in itself inherintly scummy.
as for the second quoted post. it feels like nothing but convoluted craplogic
In ACTUAL other news:
@CPE: We have to play a game of magic over MWS. Were in the same Timezone I think. lets do this thing
Millionaires, I hear it's good Music (Disclaimer: lyrics not PG-13) Thanks, CC
Creeeeeeeeeeeeeeepy...
Other side of Virginia.
Now, getting away from the fact that I am being stalked, I have been noticing that Skander really hasn't been playing up to normal Skander par. Which could just be rust from his many months of lack of internet, but should be noted (:teach:) in case this trend continued.
Many thanks to Sgt. Chubbz of Damnation studios.
Vote: Everyone who voted for Chris for reasons other than the randomvoting stage.
Unvote, Vote Cyan.
Post moar pls, kthx.
Then you must be scum. Or have a list of who is townies. Pls share kthnx.
Chris's reaction is the only thing to note on this wagen. It SEEMED like he was trying to unvote to move suspician and he raised up a quick defense, but now am not sure cuz it's not a very good tell imo.
Mafia Stats:
2/3 Loss(#28 Town Disgaea,)
1/3 Wins(#29 Chess replacement, #1 Town GCF)
Also I'm in Richmond.
Answer honestly please. Upon retroactively reading that post, was the last sentence snarky, or am I reading into it?
Seems a bit OMGUSy to me.
What is a gibbsmack, just wondering.
This is the second time someone has said this about Skander. Please elaborate on the differences between Skander now and before.
really though. I'm looking forward to you going back, posting a compeling arguement as to why Chris is scum, and convincing the rest of the town of that fact. really.
I still haven't even figured out how this freeking "players list thing" is scummy.
Millionaires, I hear it's good Music (Disclaimer: lyrics not PG-13) Thanks, CC
Ya we are, Do you have aim? If not we could do something later. I just played an EDH match that lasted 2 and a half hours, but you are going down in standard.
In other news: SK your post trying to defend yourself looks poor. Keeping vote on.
Lol for wagoning without wagoning.
Boo for Skander wagon.

Why?
Reads to me as attempted start of a soft claim and/or fishing expedition.
Pot-Kettle-black with the fishing issue
I agree Chris' reaction to three votes in a game this size seemed way too much, but it reads to me as confused town.

I feel there's merit in the Chris wagon, but Skander's captured my eye at the moment.
Also how dear lord am I already the top poster in this game by far? This was supposed to be my "I don't care, I'll check in whenever" game. D:
As you feel compelled to point out in every post...
I suppose I should be mad that you aren't going to listen to my advice about meta'ing but I'd rather ask you what exactly strikes you as different about my posting here as opposed to my posting in Ster Trek. Be specific.
Also, I know you are scum since you haven't yet said that you're town.
The Skander I remember made really smart posts. I haven't seen any yet from this Skander.
I DIDN'T WANT IT TO HAVE TO COME TO THAT THIS GAME
Either I'm just struggling to understand this post because Niv kidnapped you when you wrote it, or or I'm inferring that you're straddling a very large fence; which would you say it is?
Sometimes short and sweet gets the point across.
Agreed; if it had been just about anyone else who made that most recent "clarification" post, I'd be taking a much closer look.
I'm in agreement on the Skander wagon; his reaction to pressure, responses, and follow-up questions have moved him off my radar. It's been awhile since I've played with Alx, but I remember him (her?) acting coy regardless of alignment.
I always love these statements; please clarify how someone overreacting = confused town feeling.
V/LA: 3/21-3/24 & 3/27-3/29
A quick smack upside the back of a head, ala Gibbs from NCIS.
Before he left his posts seemed more...conscientious (don't know if I've spelled that correctly). His new posts are kind of lacking that. Still, it could just be rust.
Many thanks to Sgt. Chubbz of Damnation studios.
Actually meant to do this before posting, sorry, all, my apologies.
MOD: Can we get a prod on MTG Junkie, being that he hasn't posted all game?
Many thanks to Sgt. Chubbz of Damnation studios.
Niv: I still don't really understand how overexplaining something is scummy. Where's the scum motivation? I don't get how adding two lines of explanation is trying to make my post look like it is more than it is.
Seppel + Bil: I don't agree with you obviously.
In the face of this wagon, they would probably be split between (a) trying to get on without really understanding the reasons, and (b) belittling the wagon without offering alternatives.
Skander and Shadow Knight!?
I'm a manly man.
In unrelated news, Niv is town. He's 100% posting like town-Niv.
I'm much more down with Shadow Knight pressure than Skander, but kinda for different reasons as I give the Chris wagon clout atm.
