All of this speculation bothers me, and DV's play here feels radically different than his town games.
Seems a lot like his entry into Inheritance to me, but you seem to be jumping the gun here, if this is based on some real knowledge DV has then it's bit different to if he's making stuff .
That just leaves Shadow Knight and lrd to give us a universe claim. Shaodw's been mod-prodded... Should we wait a few more hours before opening up discussion on the universe claims?
I'm sure that there are good and evil ships in all the universes.
I don't know all the universes listed so I won't be able to tell if it's a good or evil ship (go go Wikipedia). When I saw the Hitchhiker's claim, the only ship I could think of was the Heart of Gold. Then I remembered that the Volgons had a ship and they could be considered bad.
I don't see how being good or bad is any indication for roles alignment.
No, it was me asking a legitimate question: "Do we open up discussion on the universe claims now, or do we give SK ced395 and lrd a chance to finish the claim?"
DV decided not to, and started up the "one of the BSG ship is an SK" bit." and his reasoning behind it is... three players claimed that universe? There are multiclaims from Stargate, Starcraft and Star Trek as well.
So DV... What is your opinion on the other multiclaims?
The two parts of this post don't sync up well for me. In the first part, you imply that Cyan might have other reasons for what he did, but, in the second part, you imply that Cyan ignored your opinion because of who you are, almost saying that Cyan ignored you because he thinks that it is in the best interests of the town to do so in your case. So, what did you mean?
Both actually. Cyan taking a firm early stance is typical play from him, but Cyan doing so before any sort of discussion from the town isn't. As for the second part. I'm of the impression Cyan holds me (as a player) in about as much regard as bovine bowel biscuits.
Point being, just because you were affected personally, why wouldn't you stop to consider anyone else who wasn't? I see the potential benefit of locking scum into a universe claim, but I see more pitfalls to a ship claim from everyone. Agree or disagree?
The first rule of Fight Club is never talk about Fight Club.
@Tilde: I have a pretty good idea why Cyan played it that way, but I'll let him respond before I offer my own insight.
See now, here is my problem. In this post (and others) you are implying some kind of posting restriction. Except it's some kind of strange posting restriction that apparently requires you to claim your "ship," (that is, it requires you to claim your ship if you are going to claim anything at all - because you obviously didn't claim your ship before we started this) but prohibits you from just claiming your "Universe?" Which makes no sense.
So what am I missing?

Ambush Krotiq makes me laugh so much. I keep rereading the card and it keeps not having Flash. In what sense is this an ambush again? I just have visions of this huge Krotiq poorly concealed in some bushes, feeling slightly sad that his carefully planned ambushes never seem to work.
@Tilde: I already explained, repeatedly, why there was no reason to have some prescribed vote order for this. If you really want to go back and check, I usually say the same thing regarding ever having a claim order. But in this particular case, the chances of said order having any kind of impact were incredibly irrelevant. Definitely not worth the time it would take for people to claim in that exact order.
And to be honest, yes, it didn't help matters any that it was your idea. I can't remember you having a good idea, ever. I know that you've really just been fishing for that answer, so there you have it.
EWP: Axelrod, what makes you think that speculating on why DYH claimed how he did will get us anywhere?
I'm not idly speculating on why DYH claimed the way he did. I'm asking a serious question, because I don't like how vague and ambiguous he is currently being.

I guess the Nebuchadnezzar must count as a space ship (wasn't it just a tunnelling ship?) There can't be anything else from the Matrix... (may have been that 2 man ship the Neo & trinity go to see the Master chap in, but I swear that wasn't named).
I don't feel that going "His universe is weird" is productive. Mod gaming = Bad Thing.
Probably cos starcraft is a lot more 'leftfield' than trek or bsg. I mean, sure, its a well known universe, but most of the action takes place on the ground. My guess at the two ships would be jim raynor's terran rebels and something from the protoss.
Oh, well I suppose it would probably better if I knew the settings of all the universes lol.
Probably cos starcraft is a lot more 'leftfield' than trek or bsg.
Actually, I find the omissions more interesting. Star Blazers, Babylon 5, Macross and Farscape didn't make the cut... (and that's just off the top of my head... )
Yeah, same here. I know some and I don't know others. I really don't even know a lot about some of the more well known ones.
Yeah. Like, I mean, in Star Wars I know there's good ships and bad ships, but I don't know named, proportions, or anything. I didn't even know that most of these places had ships
"O hai guyz I wonder why wod didn't choose xxxxxx and yyyyyy and zzzzzz out of the universes I think popular?"
If you think someone is lying just come out and say it, don't *****foot around jeez, and this absurd "well it must be this ship or this ship or this" is dumb and pointless speculation if you don't have **** to accuse someone of.
Yeah, some of the speculation that the universe claim caused is a little bit on the twilight zone side. The point was never to talk about whose universe is scummy/unlikely/anything of that nature, but to try to get information out in the open to limit the scum later on.
No doubt there are a couple of liars on that list. But we don't have the means to discover who at this point. Time to move on. How about vote Tilde.
Pretty much because they're all at the bottom of the player list, which was what I was trying to outline to Tilde.
Be that as it may, I am still interested in Madmanquail's though processes that provoked him to ask said question in the first place. I am curious to see as to how he planned to proceed with that line of questioning. Why did he outright ask if it's a conspiracy? What did he hope to achieve by that question?
Actually, I find the omissions more interesting. Star Blazers, Babylon 5, Macross and Farscape didn't make the cut... (and that's just off the top of my head... )
I'm sad none of the Culture Ships make it, but that's in books. The names alone would have been so hilarious.

No doubt there are a couple of liars on that list. But we don't have the means to discover who at this point. Time to move on. How about vote Tilde.
That's perceptive. For all I know, everyone on that list is speaking the truth about their universes. Why isn't there any doubt in your mind that some of them are lying about it?
The claim helped (me, at least) in no way, really, because I don't know the settings/details of most of these movies/universes.
And yes, this is true for me as well. I do know a bunch of things on the list but I don't see how it will help. At least it launched us out of random stage I guess.
Probably cos starcraft is a lot more 'leftfield' than trek or bsg. I mean, sure, its a well known universe, but most of the action takes place on the ground. My guess at the two ships would be jim raynor's terran rebels and something from the protoss.
This is correct.
Honestly, I can't even think of two named ships from the Starcraft galaxy.
There's at least two plot threads here, DV confirming what he was talking about and DYH dangling some tasty bait to bite on, so I wouldn't say nothing came out of the universe claim (besides, it's always possible someone is sitting on some useful info to reveal at the right time).

I guess you don't know I got a flaming infraction for yelling at Niv.
Usually I keep it tempered and/or not post, but this crap happens in so many games I'm in. I hate mass-claiming day 1 period, but it ends up happening anyways and idiots keep posting the same stupid speculation.

I haven't played enough games here to know what is normal MMoD behavior. But I agree with MMoD, regardless of his genuine frustration.
I just classified it as a 'rage vote' because we're out of the random stage, and it wasn't really based on any good reasoning, so it wouldn't really fall into any other categories.

Also, LOL at the thought of the Cylons becoming "Cyans".

Seconded.
I don't see how this is terribly different - he is making wild and unfounded accusations. Sounds pretty standard for DV.
Isn't this sort of gaming the mod?
I don't see how being good or bad is any indication for roles alignment.
So have I. But I don't see how gaming the mod is going to help us find scums.
