But from what I hear he's also really experienced, so maybe he plays the same way in the beginning regardless of what side he's on? It makes perfect sense to be proactive toward someone even if he's on the mafia side, but even that won't tell us whether or not OMT is scum/town. WIFOM situation I guess.
Could you explain this a bit more for me? I would think we would be able to garner some information if kpaca is scum:
If kpaca is scum, then OMT is only scum if the two are playing off each other - and the strategy is see there is that if OMT gets lynched, kpaca looks to be the hero of the town and not scum.
But, given OMT's claim, there seems to be a consensus of not lynching OMT, so there is no end-game for that strategy... so I doubt that is the case.
Unless I'm missing something.
On the other hand, if kpaca is town, it won't tell us anything about OMT at all.
Ultimately, I guess I must conclude that kpaca and OMT are not both scum.

We can't make that assumption at all. If they're both scum and kpaca leads the lynchwagon on OMT, then kpaca looks like a hero when OMT turns out to be scum.
What makes me think that kpaca ISN'T scum is that he unvoted after seeing the role. Sure, he could just be scum and biding his time figuring they can nightkill OMT or something, but right now I think he's town. But, as usual, all of this could simply be an elaborate ruse.

One becomes nothing

Here you stand before me
So here shall you fall
I'm thinking one of the bolded was meant to be "vote", but by using unvote in both, I'm left wondering if you were crafting a statement, weren't sure which way you wanted it to go, and forgot to go back and fix it before posting.
Defeatism doesn't suit a townie well; it comes off as scummy. What do you mean by "the towns very one one shot vig"? Why the double "one"?
Well, this is interesting. You hop off a fast wagon "for the curiosity of it", and now that OMT's claimed, you're smearing him without voting.
Vote indomitablebug.
I agree with this.
I think Blue Ghost is being attacked for a misrep. I reread the posts in question and I don't see the conflict that's being worried here. His play strikes me more as fencesitting indecision than scummy action. He put the brakes on, several people told him off for it, OMT destroyed Blue Ghost's stated reason for unvoting (blatantly outted himself as a power role), and Blue Ghost said what the heck, let's do it.
While I agree that it's likely, it's also WIFOM, especially this early in the game.
Concur, although I personally don't think Kpaca was in the wrong for starting the ball rolling on OMT. I agree that OMT was acting scummy, and his claim, while believable, doesn't completely exonerate him in my mind.
Well OTM's recent "/sarcasm" didn't sound very sarcastic. Though he really set himself up to look giulty even if he isn't scum, because if Kpaca gets killed by mafia then it will look like he was responsible due to him having a problem with Kpaca creating a "train" on him.

I agree with this. If someone was scum, why would they act any different? If they act proactive and scumhunt townies it puts suspicion on townies and it also keeps them off the radar
Yet the funny thing is? Players act differently as scum. It happens all the time, and detail-oriented players can catch those differences. That's why meta-analysis (looking at a player's previous games) can be a useful tool, to compare their town play with their scum play.
I know but what I'm saying, is that scum wouldn't act different, they would act like town, to act different would be really dumb and get them caught.
See above. It's not "dumb", it's human nature. You're playing a game where you have assumed a devious role; your behavior becomes devious. Obviously this isn't universal, but it does happen.
Could you explain this a bit more for me? I would think we would be able to garner some information if kpaca is scum:

Wifom...wifom...and wifom! That isn't to say that you shouldn't note it. Later in the game when we have multiple interactions, deaths, confirmed townies, etc, it's good to revisit these wifom moments to see if there are large trends...but at this stage, wifom really can't "prove" anything.
What makes me think that kpaca ISN'T scum is that he unvoted after seeing the role. Sure, he could just be scum and biding his time figuring they can nightkill OMT or something, but right now I think he's town. But, as usual, all of this could simply be an elaborate ruse.
Or he could have attacked his scumbuddy with a weak case, elicited a fake claim, and backed off, "satisfied". There are plenty of situations where any combination of alignments for the two of them make sense. For now.
@kpaca i wasn't planning on viging you because you were annoying me, that was why there was a /sarcasm underneath it......

Actually, I think the opposite is true. Now that he's identified the concept and identified it as "bad" (hence the obvsarcasm), he can point to this occasion as him obviously not planning on vigging kpaca for being annoying. But upon reread, I did notice:
Voting me because I won't clarify what my role is before L-2 eh? I don't think you're scum but I think you're smarter than that.
No, I'm voting you for fearmongering via obscure information in a basic game. Super saint is very specific, fairly bizarre concept (that is detailed here). By simply posting it and continuing to be obscure, you're encouraging players to make the discovery on their own (good!), but that discovery does nothing but make others fearful of lynching you. You're trying to establish a protective bubble through fearmongering, and I won't have it. On top of that, what would your motivation be for revealing that information ahead of time?
On a slightly modgaming tangent, super saint doesn't feel like a role that would be in a basic. I suppose I could see it, but even if it were in a basic game, I can't imagine you playing it this way.

I really don't need a protective bubble tbh, I have no doubt I could get myself out of 98% of the wagons in this game. I mean, there is that 2% chance I make a wrong move when being wagoned by you guys, but I like the odds. Also, if I were scum, I would have just lurked and wagon jumped and both won and endgamed like I've done the last 3 times I was scum (in much larger and more experienced games mind you). And yes I realize me saying I would do that is total WIFOM but I felt like saying it anyway.

And I'm not answering that question, if I am a supersaint the only way to find out is to lynch me. So the scum (which I know you other town don't know I"m town, but the scum do, and hopefully they are noobs and scared crazy of my poo flinging craziness); they have to decided if they want to kill me based on a role that doesn't effect them in less I'm lynched, or if they want to try to wagon me to find out and get a town player to hammer me for a double kill, or what they want to do. It's a wonderful little WIFOM ball of gambit I have made for them.

OMT has a very easily verifiable ability, we should leave him for the time being.
Yeah, I can see that this is going no where Unvote When is the ability used, during night or day? If at night, if he gets lynched will his ability go through? If during the day we really need to figure out who to use it on before night.

I must say this is very intelligent speculation, but as someone said previously, not likely in a basic game.

Yeah, did. Several times. I can see you, on a lark, running a gambit to see if you could get away with it in a game with mostly inexperienced players, but I can't see you getting assigned the role of super saint and casually bringing it up as an obscure reference.
When I saw it the first time, I figured it was obviously a joke. When you persisted in your mystery, I realized that you were messing with us, and I think the most likely reason for you to do that is that you're scum.
Please explain to me how the benefit of hitting the scum with this WIFOM ball is beneficial enough to outweigh the downside created by the uncertainty of the rest of the town and the potential for you not being believed, getting hammered by a townie, and making the scum's job a whole lot easier.
Yeah, I can see that this is going no where Unvote When is the ability used, during night or day? If at night, if he gets lynched will his ability go through? If during the day we really need to figure out who to use it on before night.
Why are you so anxious to a) expend the one-shot and b) direct where it goes?
EWP: While cop, doc, and vig are the commonest town roles, tracker and watcher are also often used. Beyond those, I would suppose that any sufficiently simple roles would be acceptable. Where I have issue with super saint is that it's a trap role that feels like it would have better chance of punishing the town for inexperience than anything else. In a non-basic, that's ok, but a basic is designed to ease players into the game, not make them paranoid that every game is going to have a surprise at hammartime. It can't be a scum role, which adds another level of complexity to kpaca's assertion: it reinforces the concept that he's town.
@lrd: If we allow for a basic having a super saint, I don't think we can trust that "presence of SS" = "no vig" = lynch OMT. "1-shot Vig" is not "Vig".
Why are you so anxious to a) expend the one-shot and b) direct where it goes?
I'm not anxious, I'm scared of it going to waste. Isn't it bad if we have a power rol and don't use it? Also I never said I want to direct it. I said we should vote on it. Maybe if by the end of day one there are 2 scummy looking people, one should get vig'd and the other lynched?

Don't worry Cantripmancer, you will be able to stop crusading after me on your brand of logic one day. I'm actually fine with more pressure being on you. The way that you've gone about this has been strange to say the least. I don't think your a supersaint, and I don't think it was a joke. It's possible you are town and have some weird master plan sure, we'll have to cross that bridge when we get to it I guess. For now like I said, some more pressure on you seems acceptable to me.

Pressuring me just because it seems "acceptable" eh? Who worries about what's acceptable? Scum are certainly more worried about it then townies.

I'm leaving in about 20 minutes to catch a plane. If I have a decent amount of downtime during my vacation I'll try and read some of those. Thanks for the list.

But you're still directing, which means that any scum effects that can mess with that, will. The best way to keep the scum in the dark is to keep everyone in the dark. If OMT is the vig, scumhunt as much as you can today, be clear in your suspicions, then let him decide whom he shoots, rather than setting up the scum's choices for them.
Sorry, I mean 1-shot when I say vig.
And a supersaint is in essence a killing role, and I don't think a basic would have two roles that can lead to deaths, as that could mean the scum could win in 2 days if everything went with them perfectly.
Gaming the mod yes, but I don't think a reviewer would let it through.
I could see two 1-shot killing town roles in a basic, especially if one of them is retribution based. I just think the SS concept is a bit too dastardly for the basic framework.

This feels a little overly dramatic.

Unless I struck a bit too close to home. Your posts have a furtive quality to them. I'm happy with my vote.
Cantripmancer, I'm just going to stop responding to you and refuting you. I know that you are rational in your own logic, so if you are going to be swayed, it will be from my responses to other people. Nothing I personally say to you is going to change your mind, so I'm just not going to waste my time.
Firstly, I'm going to fence sit (again) on the current Blue_Ghost wagon that's forming. He was in the last game I played in, and he played basically the same as a townie. No offense BG, but you tend to hop on just about every wagon that forms, and you seem to be pretty easy to influence one way or another. He hasn't done anything that seems out of character for his play style so far.
As I said in that game, I don't really like justifing scummy behavior by metagaming.
I'm thinking one of the bolded was meant to be "vote", but by using unvote in both, I'm left wondering if you were crafting a statement, weren't sure which way you wanted it to go, and forgot to go back and fix it before posting.
Sorry, I see that that would be hard to impossible to understand. "It's a lot less scummy to unvote" than to "unvote and give the reason for it being something that happened before your last post". Does adding quotes help?
Before I get into L-2, I have another acronym for you: RTFT. It stands for "Read the Friendly thread." If you had read all the posts between here and the last time you posted (something that's critical to the game of Mafia), you'd have found:
We can't make that assumption at all. If they're both scum and kpaca leads the lynchwagon on OMT, then kpaca looks like a hero when OMT turns out to be scum.

I don't see how unvoting is townie. As scum, it would look rather suspicious to leave a vote on an uncounterclaimed power role.
That is generally how I play, picking up on small points at a time (admittedly as scum as well as town). I will rarely do large PBPAs for example, and they are actually more common for me to do as scum, e.g. I did quite a few in Basic #17.
Why is it bad of me to bring up that Falkonn is on the fence?
This somewhat bothers me as well, as it seems like you are trying to say "Meta-game me, I'm not doing that this game."

I thinks it's fairly safe to say that it will be used as night. Day abilities typically don't happen in basics.

You seem willing to follow pretty much whatever anybody says. I don't think this is the first time you've done this, and coupled with the other things you've done warrants a Unvote, vote: Blue_Ghost4.
I think Kpaca's experienced enough to not OMGUS. But it does look really suspicious, him voting Falkonn right after Falkonn votes for him. Along with not saying whether he really is a supersaint and his 'masterplan' it looks really scummy. However I'm not ready to believe that he's scum yet because he knows better than to play like this if he was scum. I'm willing to believe that he does have a masterplan that will benefit town, and go along with it, at least for a couple of days.
If he was joker, i would be really scared.

Don't take this the wrong way, but I feel like this hasn't been given any attention. Are you going to stick with this, or was this a joke?

See above. It's not "dumb", it's human nature. You're playing a game where you have assumed a devious role; your behavior becomes devious. Obviously this isn't universal, but it does happen.
Or he could have attacked his scumbuddy with a weak case, elicited a fake claim, and backed off, "satisfied". There are plenty of situations where any combination of alignments for the two of them make sense. For now.
Was this how it felt initiating me into the game, kpaca? A wifom-fest?
Weird theories on kpaca...
Actually, I think the opposite is true. Now that he's identified the concept and identified it as "bad" (hence the obvsarcasm), he can point to this occasion as him obviously not planning on vigging kpaca for being annoying. But upon reread, I did notice:
I really don't like the length OMT goes to here to identify himself, subtly, as "just another townie".
Vote: kpaca
Also reread the bolded part to yourself reeaaaallll slow.
I'm a poo flinging crazy, you see.
Yeah, I can see that this is going no where Unvote When is the ability used, during night or day? If at night, if he gets lynched will his ability go through? If during the day we really need to figure out who to use it on before night.
So from this all I got was you're very cocky (slightly annoying)
I must say this is very intelligent speculation, but as someone said previously, not likely in a basic game.

Yeah, did. Several times. I can see you, on a lark, running a gambit to see if you could get away with it in a game with mostly inexperienced players, but I can't see you getting assigned the role of super saint and casually bringing it up as an obscure reference.
When I saw it the first time, I figured it was obviously a joke. When you persisted in your mystery, I realized that you were messing with us, and I think the most likely reason for you to do that is that you're scum.
Please explain to me how the benefit of hitting the scum with this WIFOM ball is beneficial enough to outweigh the downside created by the uncertainty of the rest of the town and the potential for you not being believed, getting hammered by a townie, and making the scum's job a whole lot easier.
I'm not anxious, I'm scared of it going to waste. Isn't it bad if we have a power rol and don't use it? Also I never said I want to direct it. I said we should vote on it. Maybe if by the end of day one there are 2 scummy looking people, one should get vig'd and the other lynched?

You don't believe I'm a supersaint, and don't believe it was a joke, but want to give yourself the out of you think I may have a master plan?
I have blocked your advance, now prepare for my counter attack unvote: Vote Falkonn.
Pressuring me just because it seems "acceptable" eh? Who worries about what's acceptable? Scum are certainly more worried about it then townies.
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/blog.php?u=52729
Nah it's not OMGUS, it's based off that post you made with that crappy early wagon jump.
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/blog.php?u=52729
If I were OMGUS voting I probably would have voted cantripmancer. If you think I am just trying to pick on noobs, you should read some past games. I am literally afraid of no one.
Also I don't see how you "not being afraid of anyone" makes you any less town or scummy.
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/blog.php?u=52729
Dude, I didn't say that. You're mixing quotes around.
Care to explain what happened there? Because I don't see putting words in my mouth as a classy way to go about things.
A card game about Presidents. Stabbing each other. With knives.
It means if I were in the business of OMGUS, I would have just turned on Cantrip real quick like.
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/blog.php?u=52729
Because it seemed to me like the proper way to proceed obviously.
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/blog.php?u=52729
Really, can you please read a few of my bast games? I'm not going to say anything about them, I want you to draw your own conclusions, but it may sway you.
Some scum games:
Ghost Town
Cubus
Led Zeppilin
Neutral Game: Tales of the Fantastic
All the other recent games are town I believe.
http://forums.mtgsalvation.com/blog.php?u=52729
But you're still directing, which means that any scum effects that can mess with that, will. The best way to keep the scum in the dark is to keep everyone in the dark. If OMT is the vig, scumhunt as much as you can today, be clear in your suspicions, then let him decide whom he shoots, rather than setting up the scum's choices for them.
I could see two 1-shot killing town roles in a basic, especially if one of them is retribution based. I just think the SS concept is a bit too dastardly for the basic framework.
It's good to know that we have history and to be able to ignore your attempt to deflect me onto that rather than your questionable behavior. The kpaca I know would never allude to having a master plan. Just more diversions, methinks.
This feels a little overly dramatic.
I think OMGUS-voting me would have been too predictable.
Unless I struck a bit too close to home. Your posts have a furtive quality to them. I'm happy with my vote.
K will do. Also @Kpaca: how in the world was that not an OMGUS?

Cantripmancer, I'm just going to stop responding to you and refuting you. I know that you are rational in your own logic, so if you are going to be swayed, it will be from my responses to other people. Nothing I personally say to you is going to change your mind, so I'm just not going to waste my time.
OMGUS is a vote placed for the SOLE reason being that someone voted you. That is not why I voted Falkonn.
Which wagon are you talking about, specifically?
The one that would undoubtedbly form on me.
Um...so you voted him...for voting you...not OMGUS how...exactly?
Nothing becomes all
Here you stand before me
So here shall you fall

As I said in that game, I don't really like justifing scummy behavior by metagaming.
Sorry, I see that that would be hard to impossible to understand. "It's a lot less scummy to unvote" than to "unvote and give the reason for it being something that happened before your last post". Does adding quotes help?
Fixed.
I don't really like this.
I don't see how unvoting is townie. As scum, it would look rather suspicious to leave a vote on an uncounterclaimed power role.
This somewhat bothers me as well, as it seems like you are trying to say "Meta-game me, I'm not doing that this game."
[/QUOTE]
This is bad for the same reason as above.
I thinks it's fairly safe to say that it will be used as night. Day abilities typically don't happen in basics.
There are plenty more roles. I feel like this is you trying to be helpful while not actually being helpful.
You seem willing to follow pretty much whatever anybody says. I don't think this is the first time you've done this, and coupled with the other things you've done warrants a Unvote, vote: Blue_Ghost4.
No, I did not vote him solely because he voted me. I voted him because of his actions plus the weak way in which he voted me.
I'm not sure why I have to explain the difference in like 50% of the basics I've been in.
Thank you. To often people buy into the "poo flinging crazy" reputation and just assume I'd make these horrendous plays as scum. Yeah no.
