And with what do you agree and understand? (Lynching you is not an answer.)
I thought people were voting for me because I was the weakest link. I agreed with that reasoning because, if we have to lynch someone randomly, I thought it might as well be a bad player.
However this:
Disagreed completely. If said weakest link is scum, they will make it readily apparent as the game goes on, whereas if they are town, it provides an easy bandwagon that offers no real content for analysis.
Made a lot of sense to me. Expect the reasoning seems to indicate that killing the BEST player might be a good idea, but I know that can't be right either.
So, I think Taylor, Lost Profit and AlphaInsidious are scums.
Let's kill them all.
Taylor looks two shades of green to me. There's a dangerous bit towards the end, but it has to be weighed against what came before. What's yer issue with Alpha?
Played a few games before, first here and first "bastard" game. Keen to see how that pans out.
I prefer starting in the night phase so that we at least have some info to go on but as this is a "random" first day it may go on for a while.
Some noob questions:
How often do the mods update the voting status?
Is their any limit on the day and night phases? i.e. could today last for a month?
Votecounts vary from mod to mod. If you'd like to see one, you can make a request like so:
@Mod - Votecount, please.
Unless the mod imposes a deadline, Day will last until we lynch somebody. Nights typically last about 72 hours for a game this size, but that is up to the mod. It's generally announced by the mod at the end of each Day how long Night will be.
The first Day begins random, but it will only remain so if we aren't playing very well. I can assure you we won't be lynching anyone at random.
You've played a few games before. How many as town? How many as scum? Where did you play?
The votes seem very random and spread to me. The way I see it is no one will have any hard evidence today and the odds of voting a town off will be high. If the scum kill tonight, that's 2 townies down. If we go with no lynch, only one down and we have more info? Perhaps I'm wrong?
From your point of view, if we have nothing to go on today, and thus choose No Lynch, what do we have to go on tomorrow?
Well, there will possibly be a dead person and some people would probably have investigative and "town help" roles.
I'm going to assume you're town for a moment:
I suppose we can safely cross dead people off of our list of suspects.
Here's the thing: Follow the cop is not a strategy that's going to win the game for us. What if the cop dies? What if he's roleblocked? Same for the other investigative roles. While whatever info we gather from Night is useful, it should never be a crutch for us to lean on. Towns that follow that philosophy get rolled.
We rule the Day. We win this game by analyzing behavior above everything else. Even with little to no information to start, the liars will out themselves over time.
Getting back to your original thought: No Lynch leaves us with less information over time than lynching does. Let's say we mislynch today. Sucks to be sure, but the posts that lead us to that decision will be loaded with information. As long as the town isn't lazy, things will be fine.
Of course, if you're scum, things won't be fine for you at all.
Looks like TheMidnightPython and Vulpix are the two that have not said anything yet.
I don't like the quite ones... I really don't... You two, say something and make me feel better! Please? (or I'm going to vote one of you; I'll do it! I swear!)
@Seppel; it's been a day & a half. Give AI a chance to further incriminate his buddies. Then we'll roll 'em & smoke 'em & blow this popsicle stand, ok?
The one with Dagger well whats a dagger? a sort of knife correct? and he said i can stick nothing on him right? well i can take his namesake and stick it on Arcadic, thereby killing Arcadic (Stabbed by a Dagger), since I stuck the Dagger on Arcadic Dagger is a witness to the crime, he is also the main suspect since Dagger just Arcadic, and finally he is the murder weapon given his name sake... sigh i need to work on my funny... cant believe i need to explain every single one of my funnies

I know its a small sample size, but in how many of your 6 games did you lynch scum first, even with no information?
In all the games I've played, the number tends towards 60% or so.
You have officially lost me... unless you mean the little typo where it says "...Dagger just Arcadic..." where it is supposed to read "...Dagger just killed Arcadic..."

I've looked at the player list twice, and I swear I didn't realize Arcadic was on it, and thus a player and not a random noun, until now.

Where the heck did you get that from? I don't see that as a reason. So if we randomly lynch a bad player you wanted to die? How is that at all helpful to the town? Instead of lynching bad/best we lynch scummy?
Where the heck did you get that from? I don't see that as a reason. So if we randomly lynch a bad player you wanted to die? How is that at all helpful to the town? Instead of lynching bad/best we lynch scummy?
Ummm... I already admitted I was wrong in my reasoning. But, if you want a more in-depth look at how I came to that conclusion....
I was reading this paged of a mafia wiki I found: http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Vigilante (I was reading roles off of the main page, I found it when I typed "WIFOM" in google since someone told me that what I was doing last time)
And it seemed to indicate that killing "any players that have a history of a purposely anti-town playstyle which can hinder scum-hunting" is a good idea.
Now, the one other game I played, that sounded like an apt description of what I did last game. As has been said, I am an attention whore and that game I really whored myself out, which hurt the town.
With this in mind, I thought "Hey, if we are going to randomly kill someone, it probably should be the bad player, AKA, me."
Disagreed completely. If said weakest link is scum, they will make it readily apparent as the game goes on, whereas if they are town, it provides an easy bandwagon that offers no real content for analysis.
You assume incorrectly. To this point, nobody has voted you with the intent of lynching. In actuality, I started with an entirely random vote on you, as I am wont to do, and a few others followed suit. This is fairly common.
All makes sense to me. Therefore, I feel the my previous reasoning is wrong. Killing a bad player early is kinda pointless because if he is scum he will out himself anyway, and as Sepiriel says,
But, look, buddy. I've already said in multiple posts(2-3 at this point) I was wrong. Why do you have to keep hammering me about it? I made a mistake in my reasoning. I'm sorry, really.
@Arcadic - your Avatar pretty much describes my reaction to finally realizing you were a player.
@Taylor - your link exemplifies the difference between using a lynch and using a vigilante. The criteria for deciding to kill someone via lynch and kill them via a vigilante differ in several areas.

But with one game I'd say you don't have a history.
With this in mind, I thought "Hey, if we are going to randomly kill someone, it probably should be the bad player, AKA, me."
Which is horrible because randomly lynching a player is not the name of the game.

Or hide behind the facet of being new and just saying anything to say it.

Going by Taylor's admitted attention whore history, it's fair to assume that he "says anything to say it" regardless of where he is. Which leads me to believe that if he was scum, he'd have outed himself by now as he wouldn't be able to resist doing so. Unvote Taylor.
I'm amused that [Shalako], of all people, are talking about terrible reasoning. "Hey, PF's RVS daykill must be serious, therefore I should shoot him to prove that I have a daykill!"
Going by Taylor's admitted attention whore history, it's fair to assume that he "says anything to say it" regardless of where he is. Which leads me to believe that if he was scum, he'd have outed himself by now as he wouldn't be able to resist doing so. Unvote Taylor.
How in any way do the first and second sentences connect?
I'm saying that I think he'd have given himself away by saying things that were obviously tells, and in doing so, would have revealed himself as mafia.
So anyone care to speculate on Bastardly mod possibilities?
Jesters?
Insane Cops?
Insane Docs?
Or we waiting on the last player to end RVS?
There are quite a few things a bastard mod could do without outright lying, which would be your examples. And if he starts lying on things like this, you could go to an extent and say role PM's or role flips could be lies due to bastard-ness.
It's better not to worry too much about these things until they become relevant, so we don't have to play around what the mod *could* do.

What is the role of a Jester?
A role that has to be lynched to win. Very unfun, frowned upon, and ultimately not worth considering in these types of games.

Pretty sure, & I say this having followed Pale Mage's mafia game for years, he's out to suck the fun out of the scum's day. You seem to be irked. Are you scum?
