I'm on vacation in Florida until tomorrow night. I don't mind being the lynch target if gigas is the final vote as I think he's the best chance of being scum right now. I only think this is a good plan if people feel it's more likely that I'm scum then people think gigas is scum though. If people think gigas is scum then we should just lynch him imo. Also, in order for people to make a decision I think they should read my whole role pm since the cat is out of the bag now. Poggy would you post it? I'm posting from my iPhone so doing that would be a pita.
If anyone thinks there is a better chance of you being scum than gigas they are out of their minds, the reason that we are doing it this way is because we eliminate the slight chance of you being scum and have you alive and confirmed town if we get into an endgame

Student Name: Kara Green Code Name: Class: A Group Affiliation: None Clubs: Nature Club DOB: 09/12/1992 Sex: Female Student Number: V-004488965
Kara is what would best be described as a weresquirrel. She was abandoned at birth by her parents, most likely due to her squirrel like features and tail, and instead had to raise herself in the north woods of Minnesota. She only survived due to her animal instincts and accelerated growth from being a weresquirrel, and had no known human contact until the age of four where she met a man who went by the name Happy Jack Green.
Happy Jack Green was a hermit who had secluded him in the north woods of Minnesota to escape being drafted during the Vietnam War. Slightly insane by the time Kara found him, he readily accepted her as his daughter and never seemed to notice or mention her squirrel like features.
She stayed with Happy Jack for the next nine years, living happily and making friends with all the squirrels in the woods. Yet she was eventually found by a vampire that could control wolves named Lycan who had heard rumors of a strange squirrel girl who roamed the north woods. Lycan, a commissioned freak hunter for the government, found where Kara and Happy Jack lived and used his wolves to destroy their home before he fed on Happy Jack because he was, in his own words, “hungry”.
During this incident Kara was unable to do anything other than watch as Lycan’s wolves had her pinned down and killed any of her squirrels that tried to help. After this incident she was dragged off to Gabriel High School and forced to enroll for her own “safety”.
The incident greatly affected Kara and she grew disillusioned with this new life and started to hold a deep hatred for both vampires and wolves. But this anger she had had an unexpected affect of greatly increasing her powers to the point where she could control all squirrels in a several mile radius and even strengthens them, turning them into freaks with super strength and regeneration. This in turn caught the attention of the student council who sought to temper her increasingly radical behavior by offering her a student council seat. It has done little to stop it.
She has been a vocal detractor of the school and has repeatedly voiced both a desire to kill Lycan and return to her home in the north woods.
Squirrel Swarm - Active/Night/Permanent/No Condition: Kara can send out her squirrel friends during the night to one person. That person will be unable to use their abilities or Limit Breaker that night due to the noise and chaos that the squirrels cause.
Limit Breaker (Divide and Conquer) - Active/Night/Permanent/No Condition/1/0: By focusing all her concentration Kara can divide her squirrel friends into groups and send them to different people in one night. The persons will be unable to use their abilities or Limit Breaker that night due to the noise and chaos that the squirrels cause. Divide and Conquer uses one charge to use. Each time she uses Divide and Conquer she can roleblock an additional person that night. Due to her hatred of vampires and werewolves, she gains a charge each time she kills one of them. (Kill includes casting the lynching vote.)

Four up, three down, and one unfortunate lynching of an aspiring, but really bad (I mean Keanu Reeves bad), actress. But mislynches happen. Not here though as the weight of the world slowly comes down on the one called Gigas. Everyone has there fingers pointed at him, everyone is cautious, and everyone is damn sure he is scum. Or that is at least what the paranoid guy in the corner wants you to believe. And so finally cracking the one called gigas started yelling and screaming. Small, furry blobs start to gather around gigas, until the one is no more. As the blobs retreat a small skeleton, mostly picked clean, drops to the floor. A few you noticing the wider pelvis realize that gigas was actually a girl and not a guy as she led everyone to believe. Weird huh?

As the reality around everyone begins to dissipate those who were unfairly left to die reappeared as alive as ever, while Dire began coughing.
"Really? It's over so soon?" Dire said fiddling with the cigarette in his hand before he threw it away. "Can never smoke these thing while alive."
He begins to walk away before he turns around finally realizing that those who weren't guilty were still here. "Eh, you guys still here? Good job I guess. We should probably take a couple of days off before appointing new members. So who wants Ice Cream?"
Nobody moved. "Your loss I guess." Dire turned and walked out of the room, laughing manically to himself about something, leaving those who were still in the room to wonder if their was more to this game than what appeared to be...
The town has won. AsianInvasion, AKA Julian Godel, has also won. My comments and stuff will come later. I hope you enjoyed the game.
Maybe this is slightly premature, not having seen the full setup, but here are my thoughts from my point of view.
This game forced the scum to claim their real roles (or of course lie and just gamble that nobody would do a trade with us the entire game). So we are forced into playing the whole game around these mod-forced claims. That means that there's no leeway in making up a claim to fit the situation - we have to make sure that our actions fit our claims from the start. That's bad enough, but then you make Gigas a roleblocker (scum role) and then give me a dossier blocker role (again, scum role). So now, not only are we limited in using our abilities (because we have to use them in a pro-town manner - in my case that means not using them at all), but I have to go in and start saying how scummy my role is from D1.
Then we have the nice win condition screw-up, which was the final blow to MH (I don't entirely blame Guardman for this, as she was scummy anyway and we were warned about the weird win conditions).
Then we have AI as a neutral cop, which at first seems like a clever role except that cop is an inherently pro-town ability.
We also have that nice situation with Cyan's list of council members which I'm still waiting to hear what the hell that was about. Regardless of the actual reasoning there, that caused confirmation of Cyan being town (only half Guardman's fault here - it wouldn't have been as obvious if Cyan hadn't replaced out, but I don't really blame him for doing so).
Probably the thing that bugs me the most is what led to AI investigating me - how Zionite's flavour meshed with mine. As soon as Zionite claimed, I was screwed. If I didn't say anything, then any trade later on would make me look really bad for keeping quiet, but if I did say something, well now I look bad because my character's a rapist.
Oh, and then we have the wonderful fact that abilities and Limitbreakers can be used together on the same night.
I don't mean to take away from the town's win though, since MH and Gigas were both scummy and I made some poor night choices. I think I played well behaviorally and the circumstances surrounding my death were unfair, but even so I'm not sure I would have endgamed. But I really did not enjoy this game.
I really liked the flavour of this game- even if it sometimes made it hard to go off of it to find scum.

Student Name: Van Hellsing
Code Name:
Class: B
Group Affiliation: Deadmen
Clubs: None (has been in the Chess Club, Go Club, Occult Club, Football Club, Magic Club, Gaming Club, Linguistics Club, Freak Research Club, and Sci-Fi Club, but quit all of them after one meeting)
DOB: 02/09/1993
Sex: Male
Student Number: V-005114824
Born as a regular non-freak human, Van Hellsing tricked his way into Gabriel High School. Once revealed that he was not a freak, the student council allowed him to stay due to his cunning which had already won him the respect, and in some cases fear, of his fellow classmates and his teachers.
As one of the few non-freaks to ever enroll, special consideration was given to his assignments. But as of 10/13/2007 this special consideration is no longer needed. During a routine mission on that day, most of the group he was with was wiped out by a surprise attack. But due to his own cunning and intelligence he was able to wipe out the enemy by himself and comeback as the only survivor, though he lost his right arm and right eye. He replaced his right eye with the eye of the rancor that took his. He is refusing a replacement right arm until he takes the right arm of the freak that ripped his off. Due to his life threatening injuries he was approved for a transfusion of vampire blood. Currently he is a Level 2 Half-Vampire. He is affiliated with the group known as the Deadmen, which has had zero casualties since he took over as captain.
Because of the skill and power he possessed defeating the attackers as only a human, he was quickly promoted to the vacant student council seat that occurred as a result of that attack. He is one of the top candidates to replace president Dire when he retires.
Rancor Eye – Active/Any/Permanent/No Condition: The rancor eye causes temporary insanity in anybody that sees it. Each day and night you may send in a PM containing the Code Names of three players. The following period any ability that targets you will be randomly redirected to one of those three. If you do not choose anybody, Rancor Eye does nothing the next period.
Limit Breaker (Frankenstein’s Arm) – Active/Night/Permanent/Conditional/2/0: Van knows that the freak who took his arm is a member of the student council. He just doesn’t know which one. If that person dies he will be able tell by their revealed Data Dossier and will steal that person’s right arm for himself. The vampire blood will twist and distort the arm until it is a true monster’s arm. As such he will be able to charge it to perform his Limit Breaker each time a player dies. He needs two charges to perform Frankenstein’s Arm. Frankenstein’s Arm will prevent a player from using or charging their Limit Breaker as long as Van is alive (but it doesn’t get rid of any current charge that person’s limit breaker already has).

MH probably could have gotten by(JOAT usually gets a pass) if she didn't mess up her WC false-claim, and the rest of your team got investigated by a neutral. Not much you can do there.
And Gigas was getting lynched even if he never got investigated..his 'maybe the RB(that RBed someone that had virtually no chance of being scum) was town' post was a laughable obvious scum giveaway.
Mostly, I'm just disappointed with the overall setup. I've already aired my grievances about my role, so I'll let that go. Aside from that, information sharing was supposed to be such a big deal, but it never amounted to anything whatsoever. Ultimately, it feels like the whole 'theme' was just a red herring..and an intentional one at that. Not really sure what to make of it all.
I had you Calvin, and I let myself get distracted. I wasn't satisfied with your answers to me, but LP seemed convinced that you were town, and I was convinced that he was town, so I let it go. Certainly disappointed in myself there.

You never had to accept trades, and MandersHex's role was incredibly pro-town when claimed - see Zionite's reaction to it.
Hell, lying here could even be considered stronger, as the threat of confirmation would supposedly keep everyone honest.
Then we have AI as a neutral cop, which at first seems like a clever role except that cop is an inherently pro-town ability.
AI was hardly working with the town throughout - he required significant prodding to get him to do anything. The very early death of MandersHex I believe swayed him completely to the town's side, although even then I was hesitant to trust him.
There were several flavor dichotomies this game.
You and Zionite
Cyan and I
Keifru and kpaca
Gigas1 and the Werewolves/Vampires
Yours and falkonn's flavor were also tied rather closely together - causing potential mislynches of an "immortal."
I don't think you were investigated solely the rapist flavor, but rather your claim that "my ability is much better on scum" after Zionite came up town.
Oh, and then we have the wonderful fact that abilities and Limitbreakers can be used together on the same night.
When did this come into play, other than with AsianInvasion?
Overall I enjoyed the game. I suppose it helps to win.
I think survivors, as always, make the game a tad swingier, especially with a cop role attached. And, as I pointed out a bit in my night chatter with poggydude and Keifru, the mafia felt a little underpowered. I suppose losing the extra nightkill day 1 hurt, but a roleblocker did rather little for their team in this game. There were no doctors to prevent immediate killing of the cops, and there were only 3 night abilities that it could even stop, as far as I could tell.
Another bit of tough luck for the mafia was that the "weakest" town members got pseudo confirmed rather quickly. MandersHex calling poggydude cult and Zuzu Petals ended up a confirmed mason. There were really no easy mislynches after that point.
@ Cyan - my role required it, as did MandersHex's it appears.

The day of this incident is one of the few days that Sonya actually showed up for. Notoriously difficult to find, she is known for showing up for around three to four meetings per year. The very fact that she was here today speaks to the already unusual circumstances surrounding the incident of Dire’s death.
Not one to speak, she has currently not voted on any school issue that has come up. She is not known to have any friends, and is suspected to actually be the only member of the group she is affiliated with.
Needless to say, nobody knows what her intentions are or why she is even on the student council.
Secrets of the Spirits – Passive/Day/Permanent/Conditional: Each night she may try to answer who is being described in each question (You can answer all the questions each night, but only get one chance to answer each question, each night). If she gets it right, her vote will now on count as two votes when voting for that person. Note that the vote will be hidden and will only show up as one vote when voting for that person.
Who has been in the most clubs?
Who is in the same club as the student council president?
Who is the oldest person?
Who is Irish?
Who suffers from paranoia?
Who has the same name as the high school?
Who is not a freak?
Who founded the current “Wild Edge” group?
Who has the power of Luck Manipulation?
Who has their birthday today?
Who was broken?
Who harbors a hatred of vampires and wolves?
Note: Answers question with Code Name, not Student Name…
Limit Breaker (Spirit Invocation) – Active/Day/Permanent/Conditional/1/0: When Spirit Invocation is activated any person whose question she correctly answered vote will not be counted if it is voting for her. It takes one charge to activate Spirit Invocation. She gains a charge every six questions she correctly answers. The vote will show up as counting, but it won’t be counted in the real, hidden vote. She can activate this any day she has a charge.
I think it was interesting how the flavors were used in some of the roles' mechanics, though admittedly it seemed pretty restricting for the scums to maneuver around.
The other thing I liked was the dual roles Rafk was using. It's rather hilarious how he was trying to convince the rest that Zuzu Petals and Rafk were buddy buddy through crafted PMs.
I think it was interesting how the flavors were used in some of the roles' mechanics, though admittedly it seemed pretty restricting for the scums to maneuver around.
RafaelK's role should have given them an possible out - "I don't have an ability and thus cannot claim/trade it."
Also, a roleblocker can be a pro-town role, especially with no other protective roles and doubly especially since MandersHex had a 1 shot roleblock already, had he not aimed it at falkonn.
My title and avatar change was a private "still alive" joke (cleared with Guardman) which became ironic when I got nightkilled for the second time in two nights...
Everyone who marked Zuzu's IQ down for the magenta text (Guardman's fault) or the poor capitalisation (my own addition), well, surprise!
Calvin, Zuzu wasn't really a mason technically due to limits on what I could say and what would be revealed in the PMs. He was only confirmed because the town bought my song and dance routine despite it not being in Zuzu or my PM. A masterclass in when and how to lie as a townie for a good cause, if I do say so myself.
(Incidentally Calvin, if I'd been alive when your flavor came out you would have been buggered even without an investigation. Noone else seems to have got it: you and Roland and the Midnight Sun are references to a Warren Zevon song Van Owen is the bad guy of the song
The mafia getting rolled easily doesn't necessarily make the game imbalances. Manders and Gigas had themselves lined up from early on and that made the mafia's job impossible (especially since they gambled on not killing the neutral cop, which may have worked out if the mafia had been in a better position early; as it was, AI knew he was more likely to win by knocking over the mafia). It may have been imbalanced- I don't pretend to have analysed it closely. But the game was decided by the town zeroing in on Manders (and just about everyone having Gigas high on their lists) on day 1, not by anything in the night abilities. Games go that way sometimes.
1. Bad beats, scum.
2. Game was fun, if very anti-scum. Thanks Guardman.
3. For my second symbiote I chose poggydude as obvtown the scum would never bother killing. Yeah neutral roles.
And the Mafia gets done.
And you make a neat noose.
For the people who are still alive.
"...what? Why are you looking at me like that?"
Honestly, I started off trying to 'be' my character...but I started having more and more trouble. Especially since I was operating under extreme paranoia and didn't want to make any references to my missing arm/weird eye. I thought the person I was hunting was also hunting me- and that he was scum, but I guess I was wrong on that part.
I did go "☺☺☺☺ yeah!" when I read who I was though. Such a bad ass...my mind immediately when to Alucard.

Well, what could I have done? I was going to have to claim eventually, and it's not like falseclaiming would do any good. I figured the best thing to do would be to mention it then because otherwise when I claimed I'd have to explain it AND explain not mentioning it right away. And having already offered an ability trade made simply not trading impossible.
3. For my second symbiote I chose poggydude as obvtown the scum would never bother killing. Yeah neutral roles.
bah. I had him eliminated for Malcolm's claimed kill on him. If he actually DID attempt to vig him Night 1, I'm going to be annoyed because I Roleblocked him...
I set it to allow everyone in, but let me know if it is otherwise.
Some comments:
While the Mafia wasn't as powerful as you find in some games, I think the Mafia was still set up to be in this game and work it out. What killed the Mafia was bad play. MH botched the claim which was a huge blow to the Mafia, especially since she had the strongest claim in JoaT and the ability to perform an extra kill. Gigas was scummy throughout most of the game and Calvin seemed to overreact and try to do damage control. Plus the scum didn't try to kill AI or even roleblock AI, and AI is the one who caught them.
RafK did a great job and it was hilarious that he got NK two nights in a row. And what's wrong with magenta text?
AI did a great job with his role. I didn't quite know how it would work out. But I think it worked out well. It was made with the idea that he would be able to figure out which team his person he had to have survive was playing for so he could adjust accordingly. He was a little more town than I liked, but I think that was more MH going down Day 1 and then he saw signs of weakness in scum. The choice of Poggydude was brilliant.
The flavor was set-up so that you would have to work out flavor and gather data to work your role, but done in such a way that there would be more than enough WIFOM that nobody could use the flavor and modgame lynches. And in this way focus more on behavioral analysis than modgamming.
The two things I would say about this though is the way it was done I'm not sure if I could ever get a game like this 100% perfect and not miss something, like the couple of words I missed on Cyan's role (which I take blame for, but I don't really think changes his role any other than the way he reacted).
The other thing is I think the game might've been a bit too complex.
You realize that you are supposed to feel ashamed after reading AI's post, right? Not 'cool'?
@Guardman: As I told you, not including those words didn't mean anything. I still would have read the role PM the same way, so you shouldn't feel bad about that part. But you went out of your way to mislead me(and me only), with my own role PM. If that isn't being a bastard Mod, I don't know what is.

And as I said I don't feel I misled you anymore than anyone else and that it was fairly obvious to me and from the sound of it a couple other people that your list wasn't quite correct.
Other people didn't have information in their role PM that directly stated that there were 13 members of the council(including Dire Bere) in a 13 player game.
Other people didn't have information in their role PM that directly stated that there were 13 members of the council(including Dire Bere) in a 13 player game.
It is fairly obvious if you read the opening post that their are fourteen people there and that Dire Bere is clearly the one modding the game. I mean he even has his dossier revealed in the opening post. It was fairly obvious that Dire's name on your list was a red herring. And it was no more bastard than anything else in the game.
Wow, exactly what this subforum needs more of: bad, annoying players who seem to think that it's a good thing to be bad and annoying.
--
I have more to say regarding the game and the responses to my post, but I don't want to rain on anyone's parade so I'll just drop it. Besides, as I said, the outcome of the game would likely have been the same. The only thing affected was me enjoying the game and it seems I'm in the vast minority in that regard. I guess I just had higher expectations from this game, given Az's glowing review.
You realize that you are supposed to feel ashamed after reading AI's post, right? Not 'cool'?
Also I dont know what I should be ashamed of, I filled a clearly needed position and didn't hurt the town. I mean you can QQ all you want about not allowing behavioral analysis done on me because I'm too spazzy to read but I don't feel like it is an undefendable playstyle

Spazzy annoying guy is a needed position? I must be missing something here.
Spazzy annoying guy is a needed position? I must be missing something here.
I meant at the time, I provided AI with a perfect target, I mean I try my best to do what I can to help the town, I have a hard time reading people and I make mistakes that are sometimes damn hard to cover for but I feel like you and Skanders are being incredibly condescending just because you feel like you are better at a forum game than someone else.
My florida vacation came at a bad time as far as this game is concerned. My thoughts. AI should have been killed and this might have been more of a game. The mafia were hurt by MH whoopsie, and gigas1 lurk. Calvin had a decent shot at pulling things through if he wasn't copped imo as he was on the scummy end of my neutral zone.
I'm not entirely happy with my play this game, but probably not for the reason that you think. My gambit was fine until it started to cloud things, and I feel like I tried to put an end to the cloudiness in order to keep the game going. The thing that I'm unhappy with is that other then gigas I was pretty lost and to top that off I didn't feel like I did a good job scum hunting this game. Combine that with my decision to emulate the silent townie type this game that I had seen work well with some of the more experienced players here (not a good call as it called attention to myself), and I'm not happy with how things went.
On Poggydude: I feel like he played fine. He might have been a little chaotic, but his play was always townie to me. I'm never going to complain if townies make themselves poor lynch targets. If all the townies in a game did that it would be easy to pick out who was left.
Probably going to take a short hiatus from mafia after this one to reevaluate. Once the next round of games starts up (or if a basic comes along that has interesting flavor) I'll be back. Hopefully playing at least a slightly better game.

If anyone thinks there is a better chance of you being scum than gigas they are out of their minds, the reason that we are doing it this way is because we eliminate the slight chance of you being scum and have you alive and confirmed town if we get into an endgame

Congratz to the town.

Also, my dossier:

I'm really glad I never was put into a position to claim, as a redirector doesn't strike me as a very townie role.
How successful was I on trying to subtlely seem like I'm a doctor? I was trying to get you guys to target me for a kill so I'd be some kind of crappy vig.
RIP Krensae Fluidtail: Sleep well with the fish
Hell, lying here could even be considered stronger, as the threat of confirmation would supposedly keep everyone honest.
AI was hardly working with the town throughout - he required significant prodding to get him to do anything. The very early death of MandersHex I believe swayed him completely to the town's side, although even then I was hesitant to trust him.

The other thing I liked was the dual roles Rafk was using. It's rather hilarious how he was trying to convince the rest that Zuzu Petals and Rafk were buddy buddy through crafted PMs.

Also, a roleblocker can be a pro-town role, especially with no other protective roles and doubly especially since MandersHex had a 1 shot roleblock already, had he not aimed it at falkonn.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
RIP Krensae Fluidtail: Sleep well with the fish
Well, what could I have done? I was going to have to claim eventually, and it's not like falseclaiming would do any good. I figured the best thing to do would be to mention it then because otherwise when I claimed I'd have to explain it AND explain not mentioning it right away. And having already offered an ability trade made simply not trading impossible.
RIP Krensae Fluidtail: Sleep well with the fish
And as I said I don't feel I misled you anymore than anyone else and that it was fairly obvious to me and from the sound of it a couple other people that your list wasn't quite correct.
Aside from that, I don't want to take away from the game itself, which I thought was fine.
haters gonna hate
Wow, exactly what this subforum needs more of: bad, annoying players who seem to think that it's a good thing to be bad and annoying.
--
I have more to say regarding the game and the responses to my post, but I don't want to rain on anyone's parade so I'll just drop it. Besides, as I said, the outcome of the game would likely have been the same. The only thing affected was me enjoying the game and it seems I'm in the vast minority in that regard. I guess I just had higher expectations from this game, given Az's glowing review.
Lair of the Cat (Mafia Stats)
So, what, its like Seppel and Kpaca have a baby and only inherit the bad from both?
RIP Krensae Fluidtail: Sleep well with the fish
I meant at the time, I provided AI with a perfect target, I mean I try my best to do what I can to help the town, I have a hard time reading people and I make mistakes that are sometimes damn hard to cover for but I feel like you and Skanders are being incredibly condescending just because you feel like you are better at a forum game than someone else.
Seriously? I mean if your goal is to drive off players
