You, the happy denizens of the 24th Century, have awoke to find something eerily wrong. Everywhere in the universe, at the same time, I, Q, appear and announce that I have collapsed several different universes together for no reason other than fun, and that I've introduced an Mafia of evil people who want nothing more than to kill everyone and everything in the universe. I've also tweaked some of your alignments to make the games more amusing for me.
The year is 2387. President Bacco was assassinated here, at the new Deep Space Nine station about a week ago. The station was completed & made operational only a couple days before; it's a replacement for the previous Cardassian Nor-class station, which was blown up by an Andorian terrorist working for only Q knows who. After Bacco was assassinated, a Bajoran named Baras Rodirya, who had been in deep cover for decades masquerading as a Resistance member named Ishan Anjar to cover up his crimes of collaboration with Cardassia during the Bajoran Occupation, was appointed President pro-tem, quickly found out as a traitor, impeached, arrested, and replaced with a new President pro-tem, who will serve until a special election.... which isn't entirely relevant while you're all fighting for your lives, but for those of you from the past, this is a bit of background on what's going on in this time.
My rules (stolen from an unusually bright mortal who stole them from another unusually bright mortal):
1. Nights should last approximately two to three real world days. If all choices come in sooner, night may end sooner. If your choice doesn’t get in by the deadline/cutoff, you will do nothing.
2. The day will last as long as it needs to. If discussion lags, I may impose a deadline.
3. Votes must be in BOLD or they will not be counted. Unvoting is not required, but is appreciated.
4. Lynches happen after a majority is reached. Once a player has the required amount of votes, he or she may be considered dead and you may not unvote. (well, you can, but I will ignore it.)
5. You may also VOTE: No Lynch. If a majority vote for this the day will end without a lynch.
6. If a deadline is reached with no majority achieved there will be no lynch.
7. Once your death scene is posted you are, well, dead. No more posting please (a short farewell post, like “Bah,” is okay, but no talking about the game)
8. Do not edit or delete your posts. Be warned, I can see moderator logs that show your edits, EVEN IF YOU ARE NOT A MOD AND LIGHTNING EDIT.
9. Do not quote my PMs. This will be the quickest way to get yourself Q-killed. Do not try to get tricky with this either. I will be monitoring closely.
10. All the “Good” players have been given a Win Condition along the lines of “Eliminate all the Non-town.” Don’t go asking anyone for their exact wording. It’s not the same. All the "bad" players have the standard 'Kill all the good guys' win condition.
11. No communication outside the thread unless your role specifically allows it.
12. If you anticipate being gone for more than 72 hours please post in the thread to say so.
13. Q is always right.
14. Remember this is a game. While I expect you to amuse me, please do so without belittling your fellow players.
15. This new station needs some character. Do try to entertain me by giving it some.
Characters will be pulled from TV and novel-only series, so don't be surprised if you get someone you've never heard of, or a character at a later time in their life than seen on-screen. Rules are the standard Mafia rules, no editing posts, etc. Remember, Q has admin powers & will not hesitate to vaporize anyone who tries to lightning edit.

KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.

I have not been in this position before, but I am a miller. I believe the correct protocol is to claim this immediately. My PM notes that this only applies to alignment, so it's not some kind of mega/worst-case-miller.

Karn, I believe TMCT is claiming Spot. See STMU II for further details. Now the question is this:
@TCMT: Are you actually Spot or are you just BSing us here?
As for Arianhod, I think we should actually have him just outright claim now. The advantage is we likely know who the scum are claim wise and thus make it harder for scum to fakeclaim later on. As a reference from STMU II, the miller roles were Luck Norris as Zurin Dakal (a cardassian) AND Garuk (Also Cardassian), thus giving us an idea where to look. As an added bonus it keeps him in check should he be scum trying a miller gambit on us, as if he tries to fake claim any info that us as a town knows can only be town associated, we string him up.
Disadvantage of course is the fact that scum will know 100% that their roles are scum and should not be claimed. Plus there is the fact that there is a chance they have falseclaims (Though they oddly did not get any in STMUII, so who knows.)
Saying that, I am all for an outright claim by Arianhod. I think the info his role has will benefit the town way more than scum.

I'm Jean-Luc Picard, town Informed Innocent Child(sort of--it'll make sense as the game goes on).
There is likely a cult in this game, I guess. One of my abilities is that I cannot be assimilated by the borg. Now, whether this is a simple misdirection from the mod to induce cult paranoia is up to your own interpretation, but I feel it necessary to get it out there so we know what we might be dealing with.
@KJ -- I'd say about one in every three games I've played has had a miller in it. I'd guess I've played about 12-15 games by this point. So.....some amount of experience but not as much as many.
By innocent child, does that mean the mod will be coming in shortly to confirm you as town?
Q appears in the middle of Ops & says to the entire station (not over comms, but everyone hears it anyway): The Continuum wishes to confirm for all of you that... Sir Karn's quarters are full of empty boxes. That's all we're able or willing to confirm for you guinea pigs...errr... people. Carry on...

Hey all... I'm retired, not dead. Check out what I'm doing these days (and beg me to come back if you want):
The way HP said it, I'm guessing there are some strings attached. Why else would she be voting for herself otherwise?
Well, I'm voting myself because that's my *****ty day one gimmick in every game, but, yeah, my IC status has a rather large string(it's more of a rope) attached to myself.
Unvote, Vote: Hansanator because I know I will eventually anyway.
The dude who died sounds suspiciously like an Italian sandwich. I imagine that the scum are, in fact, cannibals. More or less anyway, given that there's aliens.
I forgot about Spot because it's been so long but I'm really happy that TMCT is Spot. I can't think of a better player for it.
@TMCT: Would you find a list of stock phrases to quote helpful?
How about you tell us what YOU think about Arian now as opposed to just asking how others are reaching their conclusion. Also, why did you feel the need to answer Karn's question to hooker for him?
@Wheat: I dunno if the stock quote thing is gonna get TMCT modkilled or not. I am going to need to look at the old Spot roles to see if this is actually allowed. If so, I am all for it.
@Hooker: Why did you feel the need to reveal your full role so early? Why not just reveal that you are assimilation immune and then if pressure got high enough, trigger your IC status?
@Wheat: I dunno if the stock quote thing is gonna get TMCT modkilled or not. I am going to need to look at the old Spot roles to see if this is actually allowed. If so, I am all for it.
I assume that TMCT would look at his role and tell me if it's disallowed and therefore not helpful.

@Wildfire: Spot has turned into a tradition with EU/MU games. He has been in both MU 2 and EU: http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/outside-magic/mafia/446691-star-trek-expanded-warped-universe-game-over-town?page=4#c99 <--- Link to the 1st EU game for reference.

@Hooker: Why did you feel the need to reveal your full role so early? Why not just reveal that you are assimilation immune and then if pressure got high enough, trigger your IC status?
