Seppel you read like a beautiful disaster this game. You had so many weird thoughts and you couldn't keep anything straight and it was just like "poor Seppel, he seems a bit drunk and I have a gun to his head and he doesn't even know it."
Legitimately after this game I do not know what you could do to earn a legitimate scum read from me. I might have to lose to you once just out of sheer fear of mislynching you.
If you had been town this game you would have!
Or rather, do you think that you still would've lynched me if you were town?
Okay so as scum the most important thing to remember is that you're town, and when people accuse you of being scum they are ignorant fools who need to be taught the proper way of things. It's a simple thing, but something scum really mess up. I cracked the most this game when scum were calling me scum, and so this mantra doesn't work very well. But town? Town doesn't know *****. Town thinks they know *****. I can point to every member of this town from this game and list you their greatest failures. Moments where they thought they had triumphed but instead they were laid broken. Everyone has lost. Everyone has screwed up. My scum game lives in the spaces of reasonable doubt. The only people who catch me reliably as scum, in my experience, are the people who also happen to mislynch me a lot as town. I am not perfect either, of course, but whereas my goal is certain (survival) their goal (lynching scum) is within the realm of doubt, and doubt is horrific when dressed with a smile.
So that's my scum thought for the day: remember you're town, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!
I said it in scum chat but I'll say it here: the way I play scum is the path that forces town to play well. I can be lynched, my teams can be beaten. Certainly. No scum is perfect and I think PoE is very strong. Here's the thing: if town is fractured and uneven, good luck. I designed my town game with the intent that if allowed to live I could catch my scum counterpart every time. When you have people giving sub optimal effort... that's nasty. I feel bad. Here I am plugging away with post after post and you've got people replacing out... that's not good for any town against a scum chris. Just isn't. I don't think since I've started playing board mafia I've lost when a town doesn't have its act together.

I like reading people in Isolation to get a full story. Someone can not be making any sense, but when you read their posts as a story of their thoughts, it makes complete sense.
Then there are times where you just can't follow the story. It jumps from one place to another, and important things from chapter 1 are absent or incorrect in chapter 3.
I've said about everything I plan to say in the spec chat, but here's a summary:
Why the hell did you guys decide lynching ZDS at the last minute was a good idea as opposed to Proph, who was still obvscum despite his big post, or Chris, who was off in so many ways from his town game?
Why the hell didn't anyone take my re-read analysis into account? I had a scumteam of DCIII/Proph/Chris going into Night 1, and there's no way I could have stopped the Wheat lynch.
Why the hell was my massclaim so looked down upon when all we had to do was lynch the obvious scum in front of us?
What the hell was Cyan doing this game?
Most of all, what the hell were you doing in this game, Seppel? (And where do you come off criticizing ME for pushing a massclaim?)
That's all. I'm moving on from this game. I definitely know how to read Chris now, though.

You know, I don't understand why anyone would put up with what Iso just said.
Ended day one on DCIII, had disjointed reads, didn't lay out a clear blue print, his plan allowed the entire power role of the game to be nullified and then he walks in here and is like 'what was wrong with my mass claim which took every aid town could have had and rendered it useless???"
If you don't push a mass claim town probably wins since the vig is likely to nuke wheat, cyan scans someone of use, and maybe you do something.
You deserve a lot of the blame for this loss and it's pretty telling that you aren't willing to improve if you can with a straight face say 'why the hell was my massclaim so looked down upon' when your vote ended on DCIII of all people.

I'll make sure real comments when I am in front of a computer, but Iso, do you not see a recurring theme? Even if you were 100 percent correct, you acted and used your interactions in a way to almost guarantee no one would listen to you. Even your redirection play was pure selfishness.
Good job scumteam. I certainly botched the ZDS read, but I'll take solace in saying it was Wheat and Chris when I left. Proph actually duped me the most at that point so a hearty congrats to him. I think if Chris flipped it could have been pieced together, though, with his reactions to Proph D1... and Chris being scum with Wheat made a ton of sense that he was almost lynched and he Came out firing at a buddy instead/valued himself over Wheat.
Eh.
Unfortunately, the ZDS push lost my goodbye thoughts any credibility, I fear.
A lot of frustrating play this game from townies (myself included I'm sure), so I won't dwell on that since I'm retired. But wanted to see how it ended and to congratulate Proph for winning an invitational game as scum.

I agree with this largely, except for the redirection part. Iso getting investigated was a good call - then the next day people would've listened to him! Imagine if he hadn't been killed off. He probably would've been able to push his worldview through to maybe even win the game despite his horrible mass claim.

"I am the town redirector. Tonight, I am going to make the one-shot cop target me to clear myself."
that's the most attractive NK target I've ever seen tbh.
Yeah...Megs is on target there.
Maybe if he hadn't declared it publicly it could have been a better play? But even then, he was both a townie power role and an analyst. Redirecting a cop shot onto yourself, and publicly declaring to the mafia that that is exactly what you're going to do, is just begging to be blown out.
And frankly, I still Cyan's attempted cop shot on me instead of Iso was far more valuable, because I was a more likely mislynch than Iso, and was also sniffing after 2/3 of the scum, and my interactions with Cyan wound up absorbing all our energies and making both of us far more useless than we otherwise would have been. If Cyan had been free to move past his read on me as scum which had him so confused, and I was free to spend more time analyzing others instead of fending off an endless stream of attacks, that would have set the game on a very different course.

You publicly told the mafia you were going to be cleared-town by the next day via cop-shot redirect. That kind of makes you the opposite of mislynch material...
There is plenty of blame to go around this game, and no point bickering about it. The game is over now. We can learn from our mistakes, and hopefully not make them again for awhile.
I'm sorry again that I went along with your lynch, ZDS. I don't know why I did. I really have no clue what I was thinking. I didn't think it was a good wagon at any point, we were just approaching the deadline and nothing was happening, and DCIII's post was persuasive. :/ But I should have known better. This was the first game in..who knows how long..where I DIDN'T think you were scum, heh.
I'll be salty with myself for some time for having Chris dead to rights for most of Day 1 and then letting him get away. But, you live and you learn. I'm very interested to see how Chris changes things up next time he is scum, because certainly it seems like some new tactics could be necessary.
And I think we all know, now, that mass claims should never happen in minis.
The problem with Iso getting investigated is the part where the scum know about it. If the scum know that Iso is town and that they are literally neutralizing half of the town's roles, and that those are 1 shot abilities, this is a completely dream scenario for them. Of course they are going to kill him here. It's probably the easiest decision any scum team has ever made. They blanked Iso's redirection and my investigation at the same time.
Yeah, I wouldn't have even outed my plan if Cyan hadn't been aggroing me strictly on merit of me being a Redirector.
Well, I certainly have no way at all of empathizing with how difficult and frustrating it was to try to convince Cyan that he was off his rocker during this game.
By the way: when I 'gave in' and voted Az... am I cruel or what? Like I was doing my best doctor doom impression at that point.

Am I the only who sees the irony in D1 massclaim (which really punished town) pushed by Iso of all people. Iso, who is known for designing his games anti-massclaimbreakable and for punishing players for focusing on mechanics and night actions instead of pure behavioral analysis...

It has already been said, but by announcing his targets, he made him the juicest target ever. Having to rely on a cop shot to make his point across seems plenty bleh. What would your reaction be if someone being shifty was desperately trying to be copped?
GJ, in your opinion, what was wrong with the way I presented my facts?
The fact that it was day 1, and super premature, your brain felt super scattered, and your attitude towards the end of the day felt like you might have been seeing Cyan as scum. Like, your "thoughts" felt way too scattered.
I also made it clear that I was reconsidering my course of action.
Doesn't matter, if you still ended up doing the intended action *shrugs*

That actually struck a cord with me. If I wasn't so sure Az was reading scum, I might have looked more into that. For you to be so adament on Seppel > Azrael, only to flip when Cyan was ready to go on Seppel reeked of backpedaling. The vote on me day 4 was the other one. Like, you vote me for garbage reason, and then I just slam dunk the read I was working on with Jobie, you looked like I caught you with a hand in the cookie jar. The problem was I couldn't get over my Seppel/Jobie read, and for that I feel bad.

You were right Jobs, and I have a feeling if I saw you before day 2, I might have realized you not to be scum. That is the damage of a vanaila lurker at this stage, is I was having a hard time finding a bead on you. Cythare I thought played absolutely abyssmal, considering he only cast two votes (one on Iso, and one on the ZDS lynch). The scum also did an amazing bus job. I don't know if WG intentionally tried to force Proph through, but any doubt I might have had on Proph dissapated after Wheat flipped scum. SC, I could have bought as a bus, but Proph felt super natural, and rereading interaction, I couldn't believe his wagon (incorrectly) dissipating, and scumWG decided to just throw a haymaker after the fight is over. From one scum mastermind other(s)very very well done on busing/interacting.
Quote from Seppel »
He was starting to burn out near the end, but it was too little too late to notice.
The problem was everyone burned out day 4, or went on prod posting.
I will try not to sound too arrogant when I type this, but while my scum game has been amazing since I started, I have always struggled to play town. I wish I could say Predator was how I typically play as town (nailing about half the scum team, and forcing the kill on me night 1) but that seemed to be the exception. Iso knows this, but I also struggle with confidence in trying to pin down a scum team, which is why you will always notice me use works like "likely", "probably" ect, ect. Towards the end of day 4, I was doubting my Seppel read, not because of what he was posting (if anything, he was literally adding fuel to the fire), but because Proph's lack of direct interaction with me, obvious misreps, and a growing suspicion of Chris. Because I tend to doubt my reads often, even when I am correct, I dismissed as merely mislynch or lose doubt syndrome. The signs of Chris were there, and I should have reread him before voting him, and I feel terrible that I didn't. I doubt I would have ever felt seppel was cleared, but Jobie might have convinced me otherwise.
With all of that said though, Jobie/Seppel were so much worse in my mind's eye, that even if I flipped on Chris, I doubt I would have ever looked at Proph before the others, so well done =).
2. I think Wheat wanted to murder me in the night 1 scum trap.
I was SUPER PISSED Night 1. That's for sure.
It ended up working out, but when you went from kinda bad cases on me that I could swat away easily to sudden full tactical nuke, I thought the game was lost. The only way to victory I saw was me carrying the game to victory; I don't think I would have come under suspicion for a long time if at all. But then suddenly it was going to be all of us dying since I didn't think you would get out from under suspicion, Proph either.
It turned out that all the suspicion going to me pushed it away from you two due to a combined team effort to make other folks look my scumbuddies, so ultimately I just died when the time came to it (essentially, doing what I thought you should have done Night 1).
I am... very unused to being bussed <_<. My survival instinct as both alignments is an S rating.

Best wishes and happy holidays, all!

I agree with this largely, except for the redirection part. Iso getting investigated was a good call - then the next day people would've listened to him! Imagine if he hadn't been killed off. He probably would've been able to push his worldview through to maybe even win the game despite his horrible mass claim.
I was prime mislynch material. There was no feasible reason for me to believe that I would have been Nightkilled on Night 1.
GJ, in your opinion, what was wrong with the way I presented my facts?
@Chris: Sure, my end-of-Day vote was on town. The other two people I would have had my vote on at the end of the Day were scum. What's your point?

Well, I certainly have no way at all of empathizing with how difficult and frustrating it was to try to convince Cyan that he was off his rocker during this game.

I did consider Redirecting Cyan to Az, FWIW.
As far as TV goes, I watched Breaking Bad last week. It was pretty great.
I started watching Dexter this week. The writing is pretty awful.

Okay, but seriously. GG scum. I can't believe I let myself get rattled out of chasing that Proph strong scum read. I guess that's what happens when I have too much on my plate and I'm getting screamed at by a lot of players I respect.

@Sir Chris: Love your new avvie.
Probably because your scum team led with DCIII.
You mean, like me and Cythare?
If I was scum, I would just no kill there. Why would I ever try to narrow down the potential mislynches, especially if I was a player like Chris that might draw suspicioun? It's not like an extra townie down makes us win any faster....
It has already been said, but by announcing his targets, he made him the juicest target ever. Having to rely on a cop shot to make his point across seems plenty bleh. What would your reaction be if someone being shifty was desperately trying to be copped?
The fact that it was day 1, and super premature, your brain felt super scattered, and your attitude towards the end of the day felt like you might have been seeing Cyan as scum. Like, your "thoughts" felt way too scattered.
