can we just agree as a group that claiming right now is less than optimal? nobody give scum free information.
ok so i haven't been playing in a while but is this one of those posts that made everybody really hate tom across every game he's played in? Like are we expecting this kind of brain emission the entire game or what?
Yeh I noticed that too. And I just asked Taredas for confirmation on that 21 being correct and he said it is.
Best for the doublevoter to not come out to soon though.
Vote Rhand
Not a random vote.
I like this vote. Rhand's last sentence is like... why even put that there?
Did something happen recently for everybody to be so preoccupied on early claims?
@Cyan: If I wanted an excuse to say that out loud for town points, then why would I ask that question to Taredas privately instead of posting it publicly (like Tom did)?
The only reason for that post is what I told you: the topic was opened and I didn't want a noob (of which we apparently don't have any) to claim the ability out of the blue.
You're accusing me of what Tom is doing.
NotVoxxicus could be from another subforum afaik.
It took me 5 minutes to remember what I wanted to say about this.
Did you really ask Taredas privately? I'm sure you can figure out why that defense isn't really a good one.
Because I consider my role to be similar to a miller.
I am not vanilla - but I am a role that is historically aligned with the mafia, despite being town. I don't wish to claim further than that point, because my role is actually useful for town as well, but consider it evidence that there is an active attempt by the moderators this game to circumvent setup gaming.

Not sure I buy that reasoning. I do not think that role's identity could be hidden for long, and if two people claimed it seems easy to make them differentiate themselves. Like. It seems hard to believe you were actually worried about someone fakeclaiming doublevoter?
Because I consider my role to be similar to a miller.

i think im just going to assume voxxicus and notvoxxicus are on different sides and figure out which is scummier.
That does not seem like a winning strategy.
This post by prowlingpengolin bothers me. 1) The "length to content" ratio is worrisome. It reads like an attempt to be seen "Doing Things". Yet every point seems to be a question, and a fairly "light" one, at that. 2) These quotes, taken together:

Something about those triggers a faint alarm bell. "Playing dumb" / "Playing innocent." Something along those lines. Combined with the light, airy flavor of the content in this post, I believe I shall
I'll wait for answers before I vote, but I feel like post 32 is pretty strange, it feels like Rhand is flailing here.
This post is also suspect!
Do not be stingy with your vote, sir. That kind of gun-shy self-awareness is the providence of the mafia team.
It does, however, bring up the issue of Rhand. Currently, Rhand's wagon vs. people who have doubtcast him is this:
Voting Rhand: Cyan, Plowshares
Suspect Rhand: Tom, prowlingpengolin, MzztrTetris
I bring this up because it holistically "feels" like Rhand is getting a lot more pressure than is actually reflected in the votecount. Which... I don't know what to make of. It could make Rhand more suspect, since it implies he has buddies who are suspecting him but not voting him? I will think on this.
@Tetris: not until it became relevant
@NotVoxx: I wasn't worried about a fakeclaim. I was hoping that no one would raise the subject so that we would have a doublevoter late game. I don't believe for a second that there is a scum doublevoter in a normal.
@Cyan-Could you expand on why you think Rhand's claim that he was trying to prevent the doublevoter from outing himself makes him scummy, as opposed to him being confused about the player base/not totally thinking the doublevoter's alignment through? I'm having trouble resolving this distinction
@Rhand-Would you have said anything regarding the doublevoter catch had tom not mentioned it in the second post?
I'll wait for answers before I vote, but I feel like post 32 is pretty strange, it feels like Rhand is flailing here.
I already addressed this, but I think that if Rhand were actually town, he would have put more thought into his post and realized that there was no benefit in him saying anything. Especially considering that he took the time and effort to go and privately ask the Mod about this. Instead, I think he saw an opportunity as scum and took it, without completely thinking it through.
At work on lunch break, not much time to post but:
I don't think Rhand bro dumb early game was particularly alignment indicative.

Interesting. This feels like a really strong + town post for Nacho. Enough so that I'm willing to put my Rhand vote aside and see if he was just being dumb and Unvote, Vote Iso instead. Especially since obv-town Chris is also voting Iso, I believe.

It feels really over the top/forced, in a way that I don't feel like I've seen in recent Isotown outings. Like we were literally JUST town in a game together and none of his posts came across to me this way. He seemed town to me that whole game until he claimed some role that is usually a scum role and then I had a lapse of judgment regarding him.
Nacho is not exactly an MTGS 'regular', I would call him a semi-regular at best. Coming in here and having a go at Iso is like..taking the path of most resistance, which is something I generally find to be pro-town behavior. Even though I expressed mild disapproval of Iso, I don't think that was enough for scum Nacho to say to himself, 'I bet if I vote Iso here, people are going to jump on board!'
And I'm thoroughly convinced that I can read Sir Chris.
And I'm a little disconcerted with how quickly Rhand picked up suspicion. The game is like 12 hours old. I know that alot of the 'old rules' that I'm used to don't seem to apply these days, but like...this is a super fast wagon, and that always makes me uncomfortable, even if I did start it, and even if I do feel like Rhand has a good probability of being scum.
But I like YOUR reaction. Given that you refreshed the thread and editted it in, if you were scum, I would imagine that if you saw my change of wagons you might have just deleted your post, instead of holding my feet to the fire. So plus town points for you too buddy.
@'Neutral Survivor'(I'm still trying to work out how I feel about this claim) Seppel: What are your thoughts re: Rhand and Iso?
Could you explain these chills? And prowlingpengolin, feel free to answer this as well.
Vaimes, I have an important question for you. Think about it carefully:
Are you mafia?
I don't know if it's because of his claim, or because I find Voxxicus to be Intimidating in general, but. Chills. I can't really convey it any better than that.

So...Nacho went after someone who /isn't/ an easy target, and you think that's +town. Okay. I can agree with that in a vacuum. But it's one post, and I think it's weird to hand out a strong townread for something that is, frankly, super easy. It'd be a different story if Nacho had been pressuring Iso for several pages or something, but. The game's barely started.
It's nice that you think you can read Sir Chris and all, but I don't want Sir Chris to get an easy pass. Or anyone, for that matter, but especially people whom I see as difficult lynches because they're star players.
Fair enough on the amount of Rhand suspicion so early.

This is actually interesting, because I didn't really consider if they were positive or negative.
I guess I'd say negative? Since he's claiming a role that is commonly aligned with the mafia. It's making me extra wary of someone I'm already wary of.

I could accept 'I'm being aggressive' as a general defense. Or like, if you were just really aggressively going after one guy. And that guy wasn't tomsloger, who really honestly is just starting to look more and more like a dumb townie I can't accept it as a defense for trying to imply that 2 people are scumbuddies based on literally nothing. This is just bravado, like I said. Or at least, it makes much more sense for it to be bravado than anything else.
And I don't know what distinction you're trying to make where I call Nacho's post great and then Mztr asks about it, given that we are, you know, two different people.

my natural inclination is that chris is scum, but i have been wrong exactly half the time. it would be a pleasant change to townread him finally, but im not there right now.
i think at this point in the game anything more than a lean one way or another is a bit silly. no one is under any real pressure and we have no actual information. cyan seems townie to me, but if hes scum that just means he doesnt suck at mafia.
has there been a post in this game that couldnt have been faked? (other than tappings opening post, which is clearly genuine)

I'm not a huge fan of his most recent post, but I think that is just playstyle variation. It's weird to see someone say that their 'natural inclination is to read a person as scum'. I should go read Predator and see how tom interacted with SC there, where they were both town(right?)

i think at this point in the game anything more than a lean one way or another is a bit silly. no one is under any real pressure and we have no actual information. cyan seems townie to me, but if hes scum that just means he doesnt suck at mafia.
has there been a post in this game that couldnt have been faked? (other than tappings opening post, which is clearly genuine)
Whoops, I'm tired. I thought Tezz made both of those posts.
Okay, so, here's a good question, then - you said oldCyan is back. Since when does oldCyan give newbies slack for being scummy?
You tell me.
Alright, what makes Chris scum?

Eh.
NotVoxxicus, why did you single me out?
I'm not a huge fan of his most recent post, but I think that is just playstyle variation. It's weird to see someone say that their 'natural inclination is to read a person as scum'. I should go read Predator and see how tom interacted with SC there, where they were both town(right?)
You go do that.
