Osie what's Shinichi's actual experience playing scum?
Well, I talked with you about the not-so-great game. He's played some on MAL that I haven't seen. And then he has a decent tendency to roll scum when playing live. Like, possibly a third of the live games have had Chad as scum.

I ask because I had an attack used against me on MU that was an insanely good point.
I didn't vote my counter wagon at the end of the day. I'm trying to figure out if Chad is town that is unsure of reads and doesn't want to shoot or scum that doesn't want to shoot town and look scummy.
The problem with the second is that its strictly a better play for him to shoot period. I'm confused why there was no shot.

Not necessarily. Too much wine involved, but either decision has potential.

That's some sick analysis there.
Its not wine.
If scum, he could reasonably try to trick people into saving him by not shooting.

That's exactly the wine I was talking about earlier.
Consider this scenario for example: scum is under the knife and going to die. They fire at X hoping to get another kill. X gets deflected. Scum flips. X is now townfirmed.
There is also the practical fact that they might just not have had a good window to log in and fire.

Its wine to consider the target of the knife if they flip scum.

So, yelled Raynor, it is down to YOU and it is down to ME! The clone that Raynor was throttling, holding him a foot off the floor, wasted precious energy by darting his eyes left and right to survey the scene. Given that there were at least two dozen McNinjas still involved in the fray, Raynor's assertion felt rather inaccurate. Wrong... choked the clone ...intellectual...property! Raynor continued squeezing until death was assured, then flung the lifeless body aside. As you wish! he chuckled.

We're one player down and only have two scalpels remaining. If Shin is town and one of the remaining scalpels is in the hands of scum, all it would take to lose this game is for the other scalpel to be aimed at a town player. Three dead with the night kill leaves us at 2-2.
Scum cocked up actually, they could have won this right now if they were the last two holding scalpels as they could then force the loss. Confirms that at least one, if not both, of Bur and D_V are town.
@Vezok: Please explain again why you saved Shadow. @Shadow: Please explain again why you saved Kami.

Ive been literally saying this all game, but yes, you’re correct here. It almost would have been better for shin to have fired so that we had to have a block and then a kill to use all the scalpels, but this we we either lose, have confirmed town, or got one scum, so that’s something to work with.
I saved kami because gameflow strongly suggested he was low hanging fruit town rather than actually scum, it didn’t have much to do with his behavior (save for him being reasonably townie leading up to when he would have died).

A question then, assuming Bur/D_V are not both scum who instantly end this game here. Do you think scum would have used a scalpel early game to strike at a player (DoTA/Osie/Kami) or to save a buddy (Vezok/Shadow)?

with the only mention in between being that you don't care if he dies? When did he change from Town to Scum in your eyes?

i think both options are possible, and hopefully today’s flips will help analyze interactions tomorrow.
Wrt Shinichi: His early willingness to deflect for me bought some grace, but he dropped into mostly neutral territory and his flip will give me a data point for both kami and Osie.
@Dota: Because your shot was mostly at random and I think that's not a good a way to catch scum. Coupled with the fact thst I had an early town read on shadow.

I think it's safe to assume that scum would never waste a scalpel deflecting a town kill in this setup, therefore I think we get the most info from flipping Shadow, as the player who's been on both ends of a deflect.
Vezok is conftown at this point since, if he's scum who saved his buddy, then why does Shadow save Kami? If Shadow flips scum then we have guaranteed scum in Kami.

I don’t think it’s actually safe to assume that. I absolutely think Vezok is town, but calling him conftown seems like a good way to make a mistake.
Tell me this, does my flip change how you see kami at all? Like, yes, you want to kill him if I flip scum, but what do you do if I flip town?

Unless they were looking for town cred.
However game theory suggests that overall you are right.
V/LA till Sunday. Since I have no scalpels this shouldn't affect game flow much.
I am in agreement with seeking 1 more kill today. I am against it being shadow. I can see the "we get info" argument for people who aren't me, but that should still be informed by scum reads.
I also wouldn't want osie dead. Those are my two town reads.

If you flip town then it depends on the Shinichi flip. Scum!Shinichi means Kami must be town, and there's only Shin's partner left, which we can find through interaction analysis. If both you and Shinichi flip town, then together with the NK we can POE out of the remaining 5 players based on interactions with the deceased, starting with Kami's last minute change of mind to target Shin over his original claimed target, Osie.

Yes, I'm willing to holster. I don't feel comfortable enough to shoot, leaving only you holding an knife, especially since it can mean town loss if both Shinichi/whoever I'd shoot were town and you were scum.
My top 3 to shoot right now:
Kami
DV
Osie?
I still don't feel good about Kami, and DV still worries me.
Though, I admit that willing to shoot first alleviated my worries a bit, but still.
Anyways, I have a day off tomorrow, so I'll actually be able to take a look at this game then, before DL.

But yeah.
Easy for me to say because why exactly?
I mean, you come in after being relatively inactive and then you just go for someone who is scumreading you. And you've been kinda noncontributory this game even when you were here. So why the heck should anybody take this as anything other than OMGUS?
@osie: I don't think you ever followed up your #204: How does Shinichi flipping town make me or shadow more suspicious in your eyes?
What are your reads on non-Shinichi people right now and why?
If you could murder someone right now, who'd you kill (and why)?
---------
On other news, I realised that town has kinda way to force themselves to victory if they ever end up in 3-man LyLo.
It requires town putting their trust on one person not being scum and town not acting out of line.
I'll elaborate: Let's say we have Apple, Banana and Cherry.
Apple is considered be really likely town and scum to be between Banana and Cherry.
Apple doesn't do anything with their scalpel. Banana and Cherry shoot each other, leaving only Apple alive. Town wins if Apple wasn't deed wolf.
If either of them (let's say Banana) acts out of line and shoot Apple, Apple shoots Banana back (and I guess Cherry could stop Banana's scalpel).
This results in Banana (and Apple) dead, leaving only Cherry alive. Assuming that Banana wasn't a town who acted out of line, Banana is the last scum who is now dead. Town wins.
Though, like I said, all of these fail if we have deep wolf/we don't have someone we can trust enough not to be deep wolf/non-Apple town decides to act out of line and shoots Apple.
But, that's just what came to me earlier today during my walk. What are your thoughts?

Bur is my pick for somebody who might be scum, but nobody would suspect him. His questions feel scripted instead of actually trying to solve the game, but that's just my gut talking and I have nothing concrete.
I'm probably wrong and Bur is town, but I felt I had to put it out there.

Because you'd move down in POE, though at the moment it's more you and DoTA than you and Shadow. Worlds are pretty limited for me at this time; I'm still thinking pretty individually.
But I can go over everyone else I guess.
I'd probably shoot DV because he seems like he's either a not-very-helpful town or the other scum besides Shinichi. He's come into the thread after doing next to nothing, chosen town, and then made up reads on them. I might want to see Shadow's flip at that point for the sole reason that I could be pocketed by him this game, but primarily if not DV, then moving up on reads would be you or DoTA. Picking out of the two of you is pretty hard since I see town elements (good questions) and non-town elements on both of you. A lot of what you're saying is very global, very "Give me your impression," without "X specific detail." But you also have some of the latter, such as your questioning of Kami in #161. DoTA similarly is kinda just "What are your thoughts," though he also had the very specific question of Vezok in #105. Out of the two of you, I like fewer of DoTA's posts, but the posts I do like, I like more. You average out to about the same, though. I figured I'd be able to better decide after Shinichi's flip. Interaction analysis might happen today if I'm not too busy.

Shhh, don't ruin my secret plan of being somewhat townread, killing all the more townier people, making it to final 3, forcing people to my own plan and winning the game as deep wolf
But, in all seriousness: Feel free to take a look at me and my posts and convince others of what you see. And, if you have questions directed to me or at some point you don't understand what I'm after, ask away! I'll gladly answer any and all of your questions.

Okay, let me rephrase my earlier question. How does Shinichi flipping town -> Bur/DoTA being lower on PoE.
I'm not seeing this link between Shinichi flipping town and me/DoTA specifically being lower on your PoE, compared to others like vezok.
I'd like you to explain this to throughoutly, so that even a random drunkard from the street who has never played a game of mafia would understand it.
Like this:
I don't understand where osie is coming from with his town!Shinichi -> more likely scum!Bur or scum!DoTA
I asked osie about it and didn't really get anything out of it, besides some vague answers.
Scum fake reads, town make genuinely reads
If asked about reads, people with genuine reads can elaborate and explain how they got there.
Fake reads are much harder to be elaborated and explained and might contain some discrepancies.
If asked about reads and asked person gives you a good, elaborate explanation with concrete examples -> More likely town.
If asked about reads and asked person gives you a vague answer that doesn't really explain the reads -> More likely scum.
Which leads to: osie is asked about his "town!Shinichi PoE" and doesn't really answer your question properly -> More likely scum.

"I'm still thinking pretty individually." -> While my list might change based on further analysis, I'm more likely to start looking at townleans than I am at townreads if my scumleans/scumreads are wrong. So since you guys are less townie than the others, you'd be looked at earlier. Is that simple enough or do I need to reiterate the same point again? Basically, Vezok, Kami, and to a degree Shadow look good. You two look okay. DV and Shinichi look bad. I'm going to look at the people who look okay before the people who look good.
Alternative, possibly more cross-cultural explanation:
I can give out booze or stab people. I know that I would give booze to Vezok, Kami, and probably Shadow. I know I would stab DV and Shinichi. You and DoTA are unclear. I know I want to see two scum stabbed. So if one of DV or Shinichi should get booze instead of being stabbed, then one of you and DoTA are the first people to look at for stabbing. And then the other one of you two would get some booze.
(Can you guess what webcomic I've been reading all morning?)
Osie has also REFUSED to engage me in any discussion about actions.
Claiming its all wine. Which is literally bull.
Osie is dodging arguments, scum reading me for literally being the "Only one left". While also scum reading me for posting READS about the game, and not combating the reads at all.

I'm honestly not sure what it is that you expected me to respond to with actions discussion.

I really like all the one liner bs you keep posting. You keep making posts on the dumbest things. Ignoring larger scale arguments. And have basically said that any analysis this game is wine, and refused to back it up.
But yeah.
Easy for me to say because why exactly?
Yes, I'm willing to holster. I don't feel comfortable enough to shoot, leaving only you holding an knife, especially since it can mean town loss if both Shinichi/whoever I'd shoot were town and you were scum.
My top 3 to shoot right now:
Kami
DV
Osie?
I still don't feel good about Kami, and DV still worries me.
Though, I admit that willing to shoot first alleviated my worries a bit, but still.
Anyways, I have a day off tomorrow, so I'll actually be able to take a look at this game then, before DL.
I mean, you come in after being relatively inactive and then you just go for someone who is scumreading you. And you've been kinda noncontributory this game even when you were here. So why the heck should anybody take this as anything other than OMGUS?
You don't even interact with me between those posts and I don't think I even posted much there. So, what made you change your mind?
Also, who do you think is mafia if osie flips mafia? How about if osie flips town?
I'm probably wrong and Bur is town, but I felt I had to put it out there.
Thanks to DNC at Heroes of the plane studios for this awesome sig and SGT_Chubbz for the awesome avy.
Check out the Shop Thread
Sigh, I guess it's time for me to re-read you, DV and Kami.
I reread the game.
I'd been kind of busy and hadn't had time to post yet and was really only skimming.
Reads changed after I spent some time in depth.
Plus you having your kill at end day is IMO a point in your favor.
I've been AFK come into the game with Town reads and also post scum reads.
I literally ended up on Osie's scum list because I was AFK and he had "Cleared everyone else as town".
And now hes scum reading me for doing a lesser version of what he did?
Osie are you for real?
Claiming its all wine. Which is literally bull.
Osie is dodging arguments, scum reading me for literally being the "Only one left". While also scum reading me for posting READS about the game, and not combating the reads at all.
@osie, @D_V: Tell me why you are town and should not be on the receiving end of the scalpel?
(NOT why the other should be killed)
Cause I'm town?
I refuse to answer this question any more. Its reductive.
Tell me why you are town bur.
Huh. This looks like real anger from DV... I'm intrigued. Very intrigued.
What do you mean by "refused?"
I'm honestly not sure what it is that you expected me to respond to with actions discussion.
