The excitement.
In particular, the "wow so happy to see you all!!!" - I believe that you've created a friendly and kind persona for yourself so that you're more likable and harder to lynch as a result, but it's emotional manipulation that won't work on me.
I'm down for flavor claim. I am reasonably certain that the flavor has no bearing on roles and it's a good way to start a conversation.
Tilting my head at this a bit.
If you think flavor is meaningless here (which it totally is), how is that going to lead to anything productive? Like, how would that be better than the standard "*****post until someone accuses someone of something real, then start making the jenga tower out of that"?
I actually came out of those first posts kinda not liking manasi (too nice) or Nacho (very stiff/forced), but that early interaction kinda seems like it's not likely to be a partner thing.
Sorry, I can be a lot less lazy with that since tom isn't playing Voxxicus style this game.
My initial vote on Manasi wasn't serious at all; when people interpreted it somewhat seriously, I kind of rode it a little further for reaction's sake, but it was never something I was attached to in the first place. Tom vouching for Manasi when I know they have history is enough reason to stop pushing on page 2, especially when I don't have anything further to prod at. I don't like Shinichi saying that tom punting on his read on me was "just giving me a townread"; there are plenty of valid criticisms to the approach (not even attempting to read me is lazy, allows him to leave options open for later, is unrealistic and unbelievable due to how wildly polarizing I am), but that isn't one of them.
What do you think of that line of thought @DV?
I rather like this post. Comes off as pretty genuine, and I like the depth of thought behind the Shinichi thing.
which, if you understood what I said (which was quite clear and direct imo) is only me townreading her from nachos POV if he is town
I would definitely townread most people for just throwing that bit of town POV in there and not making a big deal about it
It's what azrael calls natural town tells.
But just as AZ knows he can't use that method on me, I know I can't use it on nacho because he and I would totally think to do this as scum and giggle to ourselves if someone notices it and comes to the wrong conclusion
Which is another part of why I have no intention of having a meaningful read on nacho early game, if ever
I also like this post except for the last two words.
When I said she's either town or scum with nacho, I meant she's either town or scum with nacho. There's no valuation there on which is more likely, besides the implied percentages that can be arrived at statistically
You quite literally said you were town reading Manasi.
DV, your gifs would be more impactful if you didn't repeat the emotion you're trying to express with words. Kinda want to make a read on it but it would be pretty memey.
Also, this is pretty pedantic. What tom was saying, IMO, is that "if manasi is a wolf she's a wolf with nacho," and nothing beyond that. Like, she might be town, she might not be, but if she's not, Nacho is her partner. Seems pretty simple to me.
Maaaaybe the fact that DV's like, super hung up on this is a villagery thing? Pretty thin though.
You voted Shinichi without attempting to verify any read on Shinichi. You didn't ask any questions you just voted them. You haven't asked any questions and are spending more time defending your unvote then defending your vote itself.
Why would it particularly matter if someone engaged with / tried to obviously figure someone out on like, post 50 of a 2 week / phase game?
Like, what questions are you expecting villager!Nacho to be asking Shinichi here that wolf!Nacho wouldn't think of? I.e. was there some kind of nuanced angle you think was actually there to ask about?
Its he said she said
-could be you dodged the question
-could be you didn't see it
-could be you playing the i am blind card
None of it really matters
Over explaining regardless of it being part of your characteristic or playstyle is still something commonly scummy so if you think i would over look it just beacause you apparently do it all the time your quite mistaken my friend.
Empty votes are pointless, it means u voted without thinking. If you're town that was very careless and sloppy play.
This is all like, uber wrong, super un-nuanced, Level 1 play etc, but I kinda think it's villagery. Like, there's something pure about the way Shinichi just kinda goes for it, bam, like there's a Shinichi-shaped hole in the wall. Doesn't super read like a partner interaction and I kinda think he doesn't get this much in Nacho's face if he knows Nacho's a villager.
I'm aware of the logistical problems of making this read but counsel me anyway senpai
I'm going to pretend that you've been f5'ing the game thread since the game started just so you can troll me.
Also, kinda like that team, sure.
DV's felt like he's pushing on things that look wolfy (Nacho's naked vote on shinichi) vs. pushing on things that actually make someone likely to flip wolf. Kinda overly pedantic / pounce-y.
manasi's intro gave me hives, but my team says the meta read of "if manasi's not *****posting she's a wolf" is probably not a good read for this particular game. Could see her seeing the "everyone behave" part of the rules and toning it down as either alignment.
Anak had one post I super hated (for bonus villager points, tell me what you think it was, visor), but my team says he's uber mislynch bait, so reigning it in a bit there.
Shinichi is not scum with nacho, and thus by the transitive property not with manasi
DV still could be with nacho, but probably only in the scumnacho/townmanasi world.
This is fun I should play the whole game like this.
Agree with Shinichi / Nacho not w/w.
I actually think you're wrong about DV/Nacho, I think that conversation they had was just too prickly to be partners.
In a small game it might actually be worthwhile to brute-force a read like that, yeah. Like if you can get enough antialignments with nacho specifically you can make the worlds he's a wolf super super restrictive. OTOH if you do it too obviously / lean on it, people will notice and start trying to level you, so.
I think manasi could tone it down because of the site but I also have a read that she'd like to impress people with her play (regardless of alignment) so I think she would make an effort wrt

Tom has said he doesn't really have a read at all.
His read on Manasi isn't a town read or a scum read. Its a They could be "connected" read? Based off of RVS.
If Tom continues on his madness of ranking people based on Nacho a player he has said he isn't going to read, I swear to god I'm going to scream. Its nonsense.
X could equal Y + 1 and also Z + 2, but I'm never going to define X so it is all just pointless fluff that I'm saying.
Speaking of confirmation bias, this feels fake.
My knowledge of MTGS is kinda thin, but DV is someone who's played more than few games with tom, right? Like, on the "how much do I want to strangle tom" scale between "1 - roleplaying as Voxx" and "10 - roleplaying as a spider," this is like, a very tepid 3 or 4.
Wow this is the best day of my life thanks for the opportunity to be here. I'm all greased up and ready to go!

Or the vote on Kanji?
Pls help me understand.
The excitement.

Mm, fair enough. We'll see what can getcha hooked. Good to know someone sees through my garbage.
Best part about giving that read is that I don't intend on even attempting to read nacho day 1
Do I have any say in this soul-owning nonsense that's going on here? Hope you randed town buddy, you/me/visor/newcomb might actually made the thread explode.

Do you have any thoughts about Tom's read on you?
Not really. He tends to do this a lot.
yeah it's super NAI
I'm right though, yeah?
Uh huh. You always are. <3
Not gonna bother doing pbp analysis for this ***** but I feel the tone isn't 'free' enough for what i normally expect from her villa game. I'm no manasi.reading expert but it just feels like doing for the sake of it

Hmm ya but that's the impression I've got from his posts in general this game not just that, particularly with the pouncing and pedantic stuff you talked about earlier. Almost as if he's on edge kinda.

You can probably explain it better than me
Yeah I feel that. Going through the motions a bit, sure. Idk that I can explain it better than that, but that's the general vibe I got from her early posts. I think the "intentional effort to Play Nice" probably mitigates that read /some/ but not completely.

going through the motions, yeah that's a good way of putting it. Honestly was hoping to bait her into doing something by throwing down a naked vote on her but she didn't really bite
And yeah that's a fair point on the play nice thing

"On edge" is a good way of putting it.
The only experience i have of DV is him subbing into JPM and just lolpeacing out and doing jack ***** (as a villager), and this is definitely... not that.

?
I play with Tom a decent amount. He does this a decent amount early game always. It always annoys the hell out of me.
I don't even understand the part after Like, but this seems meta?
As to the rest of your points. Nacho sent off some alarm bells with his early posts to me, which is why I pressured him. For the moment I'm willing to say he's town.
I don't even know how to respond to the on edge comment. Uhh I'm not?
Oh also I've seen Tom no brakes in a couple of games as town I'm pretty sure. I can probabally go find them.

Jurassic Park Mafia 2, here on MTGS.
Think it was like 6ish months ago, don't remember.

Oh I found the game. I was pretty busy during that time, not my best game actually pretty bad since I don't even remember it. I was right about Nacho being scum though.
This is a post in the category of too scummy to be scum. Chaining up lynches on nothing and talking about EDM. I'm seriously town reading Kanji based on this post.
I just looked again and all I said was he was bad at reading and math, which is factually accurate.
Thx.
Right, welcome back to MTGS, where this kind of thing is an actual comment that appears in a mafia game.
Just in case anyone's talking about this in the next few hundred posts: hard veto.
Kinda surprised manasi didn't fire back at this. Tamer response than I'd have expected.
Damn, Nacho, who ***** in your corn flakes?
Tilting my head at this a bit.

Talk to me about this, tom.
I actually came out of those first posts kinda not liking manasi (too nice) or Nacho (very stiff/forced), but that early interaction kinda seems like it's not likely to be a partner thing.
Soulread tom wolf based on him saying something similar to this in the Westeros game as a wolf.
inb4 "NAI"
This is a serious read, unless tom is a villager and then it's something my team told me to say and they're idiots.
I rather like this post. Comes off as pretty genuine, and I like the depth of thought behind the Shinichi thing.

Prayer and clean living, mostly.
(I made this account a super long time ago to get deckbuilding advice for MTG, only played like 3-4 mafia games here)
This one for sure
At least not for a few months abyway
Agree with Shinichi / Nacho not w/w.

Still kinda impressed.
Yeah I had it like third-hand but my team set me straight.
What didn't you like about her?
I also disliked her intro boratverynice.gif
Though I think a large dose of thst is probably confirmation bias
Fair enough.
Where's my reload function smh

Honestly it's just a tonal thing from her entry that made me feel like she was working her way in rather than just... Doing it
Lemme quote some posts
Yeah, going from MU software to Curse is brutal in many ways.

Don't really think he's done anything strong one way or another.
Couple mild wolf pings that are some combination of meta and gut, not anything to write home about.
Also still in the process of catching up, only on post 101 (hi Amrock!)
