Realm of the Elderlings Mafia A specialty game for 18 Players
Reviewed (and reimagined) by D_V and Osieorb18
In that last dance of chances
I shall partner you no more.
I shall watch another turn you
As you move across the floor.
In that last dance of chances
When I bid your life goodbye
I will hope she treats you kindly.
I will hope you learn to fly.
In that last dance of chances
When I know you'll not be mine
I will let you go with longing
And the hope that you'll be fine.
In that last dance of chances
We shall know each other's minds.
We shall part with our regrets
When the tie no longer binds.”
Game Specific Rules
Vitality: Vitality is a player's life force. If a player reaches 0 Vitality (abbreviated as 0V) they will die. There are several abilities including the Night Kill that may cause vitality gains and losses. Vitality gains will be processed before losses if both abilities have the same priority. Vitality payments are an exception and are resolved at the highest priority.
The Skill: The Skill is an addictive and hereditary magic. All players have the anytime ability The Skill, unless their role states otherwise. A player with The Skill may use The Skill by paying any amount of Vitality to open a one-way private chat with another player for a number of phases equal to the Vitality spent, for example a player with 4V would be able to create a one way chat on day 1 that lasts until the end of day 2 by paying 3V. This ability may be used at any time. Each player may only open one chat at a time this way unless their role states otherwise. The Skill may be used in addition to any other actions.
Robin Hobb - Town Author
Home is people, not a place.
You are Robin Hobb, writer of these wonderful tales, making this game possible.
You start with 1 Vitality.
Writing: Night Action - You may spend 1V to begin the game.
You win when all threats to town are eliminated.
General Rules:
1. Be good to each other. Follow all the forum rules, but mostly be good to each other and we'll all be just fine.
2. Play to the spirit of the game. Don't try to circumvent the hidden information or continue to play after you have died. It's supposed to be a game of hidden information. Don't try to get around that, whether by copying your PM, editing posts, or other nefarious means. The game doesn't work if you bypass the fact that some information is supposed to be hidden.
3. Please try to be active and post. I will be requiring at least one substantive post every 48 hours and more is vastly preferred. I will accept standing absences over weekends if notified in advance. And I will aim to not have any deadlines fall on the weekend.
4. If you have a problem with another player's behavior or a question about a ruling please message me. I will answer within no more than 10 hours.
5. I reserve the right to punish as I see fit for breaking any of these rules.
5.5 Please vote using the format of Vote: Playername.
6. Have fun!

A history of the Six Duchies is of necessity a history of its ruling family, the Farseers. A complete telling would reach back beyond the founding of the First Duchy and, if such names were remembered, would tell us of Outislanders raiding from the sea, visiting as pirates a shore more temperate and gentler than the icy beaches of the Out Islands.
But we do not know the names of these earliest forebears. And of the first real King, little more than his name and some extravagant legends remain. Taker his name was, quite simply, and perhaps with that naming began the tradition that daughters and sons of his lineage would be given names that would shape their lives and beings. Folk beliefs claim that such names were sealed to the newborn babes by magic, and that these royal offspring were incapable of betraying the virtues whose names they bore.
Passed through fire and plunged through salt water and offered to the winds of the air; thus were names
sealed to these chosen children. So we are told. A pretty fancy, and perhaps once there was such a ritual, but history shows us this was not always sufficient to bind a child to the virtue that named it.

It is now Day 1. The deadline for Day 1 is on Wednesday the 16th at 8:00 am AEDT which is equivalent to Tuesday the 15th EST at 4:00 pm. Reaching a majority vote to condemn before then will end the phase preemptively. With 18 alive majority is 10.
KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
I don't know about anyone else but even though I know sloth is trying to implant a subliminal message in my head that he's town, I'm still pretty sure he's town anyway.

think it's the use of the etcetera.
Our Machiavellian game of Cat-and-Also-Cat starts anew.
Question: has the RVS stopped being a thing in my absence?
It be nice if it just went away altogether because it's a poor way to get the game started, as well as, it just creates poor excuses for people to vote each other.
It was brought to my attention that I didn't specify how I want votes made. I am editing to the OP but the format of Vote: PlayerName is the standard this game will use. Thank you for bringing this oversight to my attention.

Living, is the short answer.
Too many things have happened since we last saw each other actually, but for the most part I'm good.
Bought a new laptop for Black Friday - that was neat.
My dog was a lion for Halloween.
Also @all right off the bat, I'm advocating to reach majority as soon as it feels like a reasonably good bet, which will 100% be before a 2-week mark.
I understand the idea that we should make use of all the time available to make sure we're hitting scum.
On the other hand I cannot imagine a more boring hell than a 2-*******-week drag-along culminating in reaching a vote we knew we would reach several days ago.
My sweet spot is 5 days, btw. 7 for D1, and even that's like...ehhh.

Hi everybody, pleased to see some old faces and to get to play with some new ones. It’s been too long! I will not be RVS, I’ve never really liked it and nobody has been funny enough for me to associate with. Also I have a broken thumb in my dominant hand so expect typos.
On the other hand I cannot imagine a more boring hell than a 2-*******-week drag-along culminating in reaching a vote we knew we would reach several days ago.
But it was so much fun in Snow White....
This is the scummiest statement I've ever heard.
You sick bastard.

You can still do it even if the people ahead of you didn't.
No need for conformity. Do your thing man!

So how do you prefer games to start if not with RVS?
Just throwing trash into every post until someone decides to read into it, then I just call them scum for putting meaning into a meaningless post.
