Okay, Aurora....I'm gonna take a stab at how this Scribblish works. I'm assuming the first person writes a sentence, then the second person draws a picture of that sentence, folds over Player 1's sentence, and then Player 3 writes a sentence about Player 2's picture, folds over the pictures, passes to 4 who draws a pictures of 3's sentence, etc. until finished. Unwrap and read. That how it works?

Sort of. Rather, what happens is that the first person picks out a card from the Scribblish deck, then writes the sentence and draws the picture. The rest is pretty much right. But everyone is drawing or captioning something at every time, so many strips get filled in in one round. At the end of the round, everything is shown (still folded so only the last picture is shown), and everyone tries to guess which one they started with.
It's about time you start embracing your dark (humor) side there Aurora!
As Duke Leto Atreides once said, "The sleeper must awaken!"
I'm so intrigued about Scribblish now. How is it played? (I really like the bug one by the way! Very funny!)
EDIT: Oops! Looks like that was answered before I hit refresh!
Double EDIT: It's uncanny how similar the first panel and the last panel are in the bug one. It must have been really easy for the initial player to match theirs up!
Dammit! I wanna play that right now!!!
The most interesting thing I've eaten lately is....hmmm...well...The Dougie Burger. It's served at a local truck stop restaurant and is on the special order menu, which means you only get it if you know about it. It's a 1/3 pound cheeseburger topped out with a 1/3 pound sausage patty served with a side of potato of your choice. Tonight, since I'm getting over being sick and my body's craving protein since I've hardly eaten, I ordered one of these, added BACON!, and got cheese fries for the side. MMMMmmmm...my tummy is happy.
That just sounds like a coronary waiting to happen. I'm just not even sure about it. lol
I also ate my first helping of Rojan Josh, an Indian Lamb dish with garam marsala, lamb, and spiciness. Mmmm...burning, lovely, endorphine-triggering spiciness. I surprised the guy by ordering it at the hottest heat level available. I wanted to feel wonderful. It was delicious, was just barely this side of my heat limit, and went well followed by Mango Ice Cream and Rice pudding with almonds and golden raisins. DELICIOUS!
I've not tried that dish yet, but I'll bet it's great. There's a restaurant in Louisville, KY, "Kashmir", that has a Lamb Curry I love. And Garam Masala... Yum!
I was getting a little concerned that you might not be interested after all, so I am quite relieved to see you back! Welcome to the clan!
I figured that if anyone were to have a cool idea for a clan banner, that would be you. Any ideas?
Glad you like the music. I should say however, that Spellmorph wasn't made by me. Pichoro was the one who actually came up with the mechanic (and who has posted this thread in the Custom Card Rulings forum).
Ah, Spellmorph. And that damned thread in the CC Ruling forum. Just for the record, I hate that my name is attached to that debacle. But I do love the Spellmorph mechanic, even if it sends some rules lawyers into convulsions.
@Board Games: Pich, if you get the chance, crack open that Arkham Horror. It's a fantastic game, but make sure you have 3-4 hours to play it. It is quite long. But, very, very cool in the end. I think we _barely_ managed to win the first time with played it.
God, I want to. I've opened it up and gone through all the pieces, and read the rules. Unfortunately, I don't know any geeks in real life. So, no Arkham Horror for Pich. Which sucks, cause I totally just need the right excuse to buy all the expansions and go wild with it.
Scribbles sounds great. I'll have to look into that.
So, no Cilantro-Mint Chutney for me this weekend. The only grocery here is Wal-Mart, and they had no fresh Mint, and only one Jalapeno (another crucial ingredient). Maybe another time.
On the other hand, I take it as a compliment when someone else uses a mechanic I create in a set of their own.
The mechanic seems quite popular among those who like it... ideas to use it spread around quickly. (I have put it on Aura enchantments as well, in addition to instants and sorceries.)
Anyways, I have a message:
I'm extremely glad that there are enough people on MTGS who enjoy cryptic crosswords, and it's thanks to all of you that I am continuing to make these crosswords. I know that the target audience is small, but I'm happy there are quite a few crossword solvers on here (enough to keep my threads going). Thanks to all.
It always feels great when I come up with a good clue, especially if it's a "!" clue. My favorite clue I've made so far comes from my fifth crossword: It makes you get a role mix-up! (5, 3)
(I posted a crossword on another forum once... that thread got a single reply that said something like "This. Is. IMPOSSIBLE!" or something along the lines of that. XD)
Well, I'm no spiderboy4. But I can do a few things with my GIMP.
Here I am so far. It isn't a spice rack - I couldn't find a good one. So instead I went with this display that looks like it's from a bazaar. I blanked all the name tags on the spices, and changed them to the eight chosen words. There were non-English names for the 8 spices on secondary tags, so I stripped those off and put translations of our 8 words, each in a different language.
I still need to add the clan name, but wanted to see if there was interest in me continuing before I did that.
Not sure what size is appropriate, either? MTGS signature standard size is really small looking for this one. But this isn't for a signature - so we can use a different size, I would think.
Edit: Or is this intended to go in our signatures? In which case, I'll need MTGS standard size. Moss's comment would make a lot more sense then. lol
A real spice rack would help there if I could find a decent pic of one. All the images I found were too small to go with, or had ugly looking spice bottles.
I actually don't have a spice rack anymore, or I'd just photograph one.
I wouldn't imagine everyone here putting this in their signatures... I don't think I see two of the same signature image very often, even for linking to the same clan. The clan banner is for the top of this thread.
I like the idea of having it both ways. We could have the large image of the bazaar spices as the heading to the clan page, and perhaps there could be a little one--sig sized--that the members that want to could put in their signature. I'd be happy to put a communal clan image in my sig.
Here, I just did some browsing and found one that looks like it might fit our needs. The image is wide instead of tall, the clarity is good and the little labels would be easy to change/manipulate: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4006/4335454466_a9cd4465ca.jpg
If we wanted to keep the big one for the main page and have this be the basis for sig banners, I'd be totally fine with that!
Thoughts?
Oh my. I'm not used to a clan thread that moves so awesomely fast, but by all means, keep it flowing!
Daybreak's opening line is sending me way, way back into my childhood, playing Dragon Warrior on the NES. It's not the most complex phrase ever so I'm sure it's coincidence, and I don't mind the connection because DW had some great music and great times.
Pichoro: You really could play Arkham Horror by yourself, running multiple heroes. Not as fun, but fun enough and it'd give you a good grasp of the game for when you end up trying to play with others. Do you have a Friendly Local Game Store? The two FLGS around here have common areas with tables to play games on, and AH is popular enough and flashy enough to draw random people into - and one of the FLGS also keeps a forum for organising just this sort of thing.
Clearly we should plan a clan video conferenced game, because that couldn't add to the length or complexity at all, right?
On spellmorph, half of me is really into it and thinks it's great, and half of me stares in horror because of the rules that have to get involved.
I used to design cards a lot but haven't done it in years; maybe I should pick it up again. But I'm with you, Alden, far easier to develop than design. Just every so often I get an idea that's fun to tinker with, like a bluffing land, or something jumps out at me, like a channel-madness card I thought up in speculation back in Time Spiral block (was that really so long ago?).
Been making cookies a lot lately, I think just because it's inexpensive and comes together in half an hour - or maybe it's that half of them are eaten before I can turn around twice. My brother still insists they're inferior to my mother's, even as she's asking me for tips.
I think I'm going back to work next week (took an undefined leave), and oh joy we've got a major holiday in two weeks. Wheee...
And bio!
I'm Chad, but respond in text to Zith just as fast these days. Currently, I bake for a cupcake shop turned dessert bar. Hobbies include dining, baking, board-gaming, film-watching, kite-flying, and straight shaving, with a more minor interest in maths, music, photography, and video games. Oh, I've begun adopting Australian English for no real reason, and I usually prefer the Oxford comma.

My anecdotal evidence disagrees with yours! EXPLAIN THAT!
I haven't heard the soundtrack to Dragon Warrior... must be a coincidence there. The only times I've intentionally copied anything would be in my "Canon" remakes.
Homemade cookies always go by in a flash... but that's because they're often made when lots of friends are over.
(It seems that me and Slavan are the only ones in this thread who currently have another banner (which isn't related to this thread) already... I'm still linking to this thread in my sig though.)
Also, I looked at the wiki page... wow, this thing really needs updating. Maybe I should get around to that... (I started with necessary page renaming/redirecting, but haven't modified any content yet.)
A real spice rack would help there if I could find a decent pic of one. All the images I found were too small to go with, or had ugly looking spice bottles.
I actually don't have a spice rack anymore, or I'd just photograph one.
I've got a friend with a couple snazzy spice racks, and a wife who knows how to use all the settings on her digital camera, I'll see about getting a good picture or two this evening.
@Scrabble: I have yet to pull off a word that hits multiple triple word scores. My closest was DIFFICULT being one tile out of place.
In Scrabble, I once put "ZEN" so that the N was one space away from the 3x Word Score, and I thought "ZENS" wasn't a word (so I wasn't at risk from someone taking advantage). (It was a casual game, so we just went with common words where possible, and I wasn't sure on the plural.) So we were saying that it would be impossible to reach that red square... until I realized that I could play the word "DOZENS" (which I did after a few turns.)
ZEN is actually not actually valid in Scrabble because it is capitalized.
There have been many times that I would looooved to have been able to use ZEN.
I've got a friend with a couple snazzy spice racks, and a wife who knows how to use all the settings on her digital camera, I'll see about getting a good picture or two this evening.
Zen is a proper noun? I never realized that. Ah well. I guess my whole play was invalid after all.
(I think there was an E two spaces away from a triple word score, but I didn't have something that fits, so I had to try to put something to prevent reaching it. But that didn't work...)
In other news, I memorized a certain sequence of fifteen notes, and also the times at which to play the notes...

Oh, and the funny thing here is that I stumbled across this clan from the "Wishing Gone Awry" thread! Kankennon posted, wishing that more people would join the clan, and I actually granted it without a twist!

Another Scribblish image attached. This one was rather strange...
(Also, "The Titanic" wins in Apples to Apples on things like "delicate" or "fragile" quite often...)
(In Scribblish, sometimes it's easy to match. But it depends on how creative/tricky people are with captions, or deciding what to draw from them.)

This person isn't willing to actually make it for us, but I have to admit, it's a pretty good concept.
Anyone else have any ideas or even a way to make this one a reality?
Lemme look around a little to see if I can find a good spice rack image to start with.
Edit: I'm working on this now. About to start adding text.
