Oh, and the funny thing here is that I stumbled across this clan from the "Wishing Gone Awry" thread! Kankennon posted, wishing that more people would join the clan, and I actually granted it without a twist!
I have so much stuff that I haven't scanned or digitized, that it isn't even funny. (Even though a lot of it was made to be funny like The Chocolatey Thing in the Plane™ board game.)
(Well, looking at anime girls isn't really my thing, but it's still some good work with paint!)
(I take it the fourth image slipped in the wrong folder? Not quite an anime girl, and not quite a basic land either...)
Kids in the Hall for the win!
I'm crushing your head! Crush! You stupid person! I crush your head!
I used to have some pics like that--in fact, there was even a MTGS Forum Game where you made new art for an existing card. Those were fun!
EDIT:
I was looking for a really fun one where I took Shatter and replaced the picture with an angry William Shatner, and digitally adjusted the second 't' to an 'n' but I just can't find it!
Oh man. I loved Kids in the Hall back in the day. I always remember the skit where the gay one (Mark if I remember right) drew a picture of his perfect man assembled from parts of the cast, the French-Canadian prostitute that always confused no and yes, and many others.
I was looking for a really fun one where I took Shatter and replaced the picture with an angry William Shatner, and digitally adjusted the second 't' to an 'n' but I just can't find it!
Lol, Shatter/Shatner.
(Kinda reminds me, Shatner isn't very good at playing Million Dollar Password.)
Anyways, I'm in the Monthly Card Contest this month... Wish me luck!
(Oh, and if anyone really wants to know, I'm not touching the floor, but I am touching a chair. My feet kinda just stay on the chair legs. Otherwise, my "location" would never be true for more than a second or so at a time...)
Well, even then, this only stays true (for more than a second) when I'm at my computer, where there is a chair. Or you happen to catch me during that one short time where I'm entirely away from the floor.
Clan contests? I'm fairly new to clans, so I'm not sure what contests there are...
You really could play Arkham Horror by yourself, running multiple heroes. Not as fun, but fun enough and it'd give you a good grasp of the game for when you end up trying to play with others. Do you have a Friendly Local Game Store? The two FLGS around here have common areas with tables to play games on, and AH is popular enough and flashy enough to draw random people into - and one of the FLGS also keeps a forum for organising just this sort of thing.
Clearly we should plan a clan video conferenced game, because that couldn't add to the length or complexity at all, right?
Lol! I can only imagine what a video conferenced game of AH would be like.
Unfortunately, no, no game stores period where I am, nevermind friendly ones. 'Tis terrible. Truly, a barren wasteland.
I so thoroughly disagree. Actually, my favorite part is the initial stages where you're world building and coming up with the mechanical themes. I'm a planner.

I used to do this really cool trick with my old "office" chair where I could balance myself on the pivot joint. Was pretty cool. In fact, I used to relax that way between templating endeavors a few years back. My version of meditating, I suppose.
Clan contests? I'm fairly new to clans, so I'm not sure what contests there are...
What contests are coming up? Any vets to clans know which stickies to look in for that?
Anyway, while I was a way, I got a PM from someone offering to help with the banner - one of the relatively new 'shoppers over in the Artwork forum. I've extended a welcoming hand to him.
Well, I'm off again to go "scream" at an indignant card alterer.

Whoa, more people are trying to find creative ways of surviving a "lava-floor" outbreak?
(There's a pseudo "easy-mode" house rule at my place where you're allowed to touch the lava for half a second without dying... but that makes it a bit easy to survive.)
[Other random note: I'm viewing this at 60 posts per page... so this is the start of page 2 for me!]
Infect? In Pauper? I kinda thought the infect creatures seemed strong, at least from what I got the other day (at-home sealed event, with things other people in the playgroup brought home)... but I guess I did have quite a few uncommons (and also the dreaded Livewire Lash, and the white infect creatures were more or less limited filler.
I can only remember participating in one clan contest and it was back when Zith and I were in MTGSalivation. I think it's great that we're already active enough as a clan to actually consider being in one! For anyone that wants to try their hand at art, then I welcome it! That's what [The Crafters] is all about, right?
@Clan contests: I always felt kinda sad because we never seemed to be active enough to be able to compete in them. Which is kinda funny, because we were thought of as a creative clan...but didn't do any of the major clan events.
@Mirrodin Besieged: I gotta disagree with you, Pich. I love Mirrodin Besieged. For me, I felt some powerful nostalgia looking over the spoiler list and playing with my spoils from the Pre-release. We had a little extra product left over, so the judges got a bonus, as well as the TO (me).
Speaking of the Pre-release, this one just happened to be the 7th Anniversary of me getting into competitive Magic. Not to wax too nostalgic, but it was interesting comparing where I was (n00b) to where I am now (the largest TO in my region).
@Lava-Game: Been a while since I've done that. I suspect that my child will soon reinstate it as he gets a little older.
@Banner: I think the spice rack idea is cool. I wouldn't mind me a clan banner. Lord knows my banner could use a change. Mebbe if I've got some time this weekend, I might try my hand at it. I liked the Spice Counter, but agree that it is a tad unreadable.
@Pich, again: Hahaha...I was sick with a sinus infection as well last week. Crazy!

The Mirrodin block helped drag me back into Magic after a 7-year hiatus (I first came aboard during Unlimited), that and a friend at the time insisted that I join him at FNM drafts. I was very prolific during the Kamigawa and Ravnica blocks, playing almost every Friday if they were holding a limited tourney at my LGS. I played enough to get into the top 20 for limited in the Sacramento/Yolo County region of the DCI. They stopped having FNM drafts at my LGS around Lorwyn, so I stopped going. I think the last time I actually played Magic with someone was when Zith was here last, which was many many months ago.
I stopped playing after turbo mill stopped being floated around. That and it saved me a couple hundred dollars a year when I stopped trying to keep up with standard.
I made a point of making Magic pay for itself. I would often do well enough in the tourneys to amass store credit (which the prizes were), which I would use the following week(s) to pay for entrance into the FNMs. For the weeks that I didn't rank high enough for a gift certificate, I was able to make up for by selling my singles here. Since I only played limited, I didn't feel the need to keep a collection. When demand exceeded my supply, I went through a business acquaintance to get wholesale shipments of cards to sell. When my supplier dried up last year, I sold off everything I could, and now I only sit on a small supply of cards, mostly commons from recent sets. I'm one of those guys that has made far more on Magic than I ever spent. (Selling off all of my power nine in '97 notwithstanding)
I was only really into magic for a couple years in the '90s and from '08-'09. I always had terrible luck with pulling cards, though I did enjoy drafting. I did manage to trade for a lot of what I wanted but I still ended up spending a couple hundred bucks on gas, FNM fees, the six pack the store let us bring in, the occasional rare to complete a set, card covers, storage boxes, etc.
I pretty much don't really play Magic anymore, unless it's multiplayer with several people in my playgroup. We play with custom planes a lot, and one of the custom planes references something called the "Crazy Random Cube", an assortment of 60 or so powerful cards (both real ones and custom ones), and there's a little bit of everything in there.
I remember playing 'lava' games on the sidewalk a while back... like some sort of "extreme hopscotch" where the squares were actually 30-60 cm apart (1-2 ft.), and there were 30 squares (30 cm wide). Any part that wasn't part of the squares (or the part before and after the first and last squares respectively) was hot lava.
I happened to start playing again just as Mercadian Masques came out, remembering the little box of cards my brother hadn't sold off before he quit (Chronicles) while looking for something new to do with friends, and played mostly Extended all the way through Time Spiral block - getting "good" during Mirrodin. I quit at Time Spiral because I feel that they've destroyed colour, I really didn't care for the creature type themes or the Eldrazi, I don't really like planeswalkers, they broke their promise about mythic rares... yeah. Scars of Mirrodin got me back in a little bit on account of poison and the return of colour, but I don't know that I'll be buying cards like I used to ever again.
I can remember playing some sort of lava game a couple times, but I don't think I was ever enthusiastic about it; more than likely it was my sister who enjoyed it.

My anecdotal evidence disagrees with yours! EXPLAIN THAT!

For me, it wasn't that that disappoints me. There are good cards, don't get me wrong. I'm just sad there's nothing for my new pet deck.

I guess in a way, Scars marked a return for me too. I began between Nemesis and Prophecy, and stayed with it until I had nobody to play against, around Coldsnap. I just kinda stopped buying and playing then. Until I got this MTGO subscription. Poison was just too interesting, and I've got a huge soft spot for it (my first custom set was about poison).
I still haven't played in a few days - but I've just been busy with other stuff.
A friend introduced me to Magic back in '97, but I didn't start playing until Exodus came out. I currently live in the country and there isn't another player, much less a store for miles. I only go to the prereleases, and I haven't missed one in 9 years.
I'm not a good player, but I am impressed with what Wizards come up with. That's why I make cards in CCC.

Are you telling us that you can't actually defy gravity?
We've been lied to!
Now that we have a more active clan base, are there any upcoming clan contests that we should participate in?
