ALSO, AGAIN. A custom set is a great idea. Now that we have some organisation behind us, we could actually use it to run tournaments!
Monthly games are a similarly great idea. Once we have a few made, we can simply rotate them. Delightful.
If we're going the custom set idea route, we'll need to have some ideas first. Here are my suggestions:
A city based set, like my set Viathic
A plane where all of the planeswalkers are big mega-corporations and then they induce spy-wars with one another. (I believe I stole this from another person).
Yeah one of us would probably see any thread that needed to be stuck, but if you really want us to know you can report your own post and we'll get a PM about it.
I found the last thread here, I guess we can finish it off with the art and mana costs. I'm not sure about the expansion symbol, I've never figured out how to do that very well in MSE. Moss_Elemental may be able to help.
If you're going to post threads, Piar, it can be you and the 3 current mods, unless you have a better idea for members.
That sounds fine. We can use the remainder of January to finish off Flesh and Blood, then start anew in February. I'll get the render set up for this month's card.

This sounds good.
I'm not sure how the conversation was going so far but are you suggesting that you would be the "point man" behind YMTC? You'd have moderator support behind you (as GM said), but also having at least another person to be your cutting committee would be good.
Making these roles official is something I like, as a "by the way."

I think it'll be more appropriate to cut our beaks on a simple core set. Flavourful, evocative designs in a loose fantasy frame.
It'll give us far looser restrictions on what can and can't go in it, and simple designs are always the best place to start, especially when this will likely be one of the largest squads of card makers working on one set, assuming we all participate.
We'd have more people working on it than Wotc, eheh.

This is amusing to me.
Playtesting would be a must, and we have a big enough group to actually do it...
WE COULD DRAFT OUR CUSTOM SET!!!
Ok this does it. Starting today let's officially begin development of a core set.
Too much on the plate right now. We'll definitely be revisiting this in the future, though.
EDIT: Piar has posted, and I have stuck, the YMTC thread. Make sure to vote!
While I love the idea of the Flamingos making a custom set - a core set especially - I don't think its what we should be working on right off the bat. We have the Battle Factory, but I think developing another game to put into rotation is a much higher priority. There is a slew of organizational issues for several tasks right now that should get sorted out first. Once we have our things in order, then crafting our own core set sounds like a very exciting endeavor.
On another note, would anyone like to volunteer to be part of the YMTC committee? You would help with trimming down submissions to those that people will vote on.

NotoriousLynx ran a really awesome game called The Magic Wars a while back. It was very ambitious, especially for one person to run, and it got away from him. Additionally certain forum members really took over the direction of the game from under him.
I think the game was sweet and I'd like to see us help him run it again later this year.

Dunno if we want to declare it a Clan game, but I'm starting up a game that's loosely based off of a swap meet. At the very least, it might prove to be interesting.

Well, everyone who enters puts together a list of ~15 simple card restrictions (a cost, a typeline, a name, or a short line of text for the card) and assigns a price to each of these. People start with a certain amount of game money, and can either trade things from their list with other people or buy them outright. Once you buy/receive a restriction from someone else, you produce a card based on it and can then add a new restriction into your list.
Ideally it'd just continue running forever like the Alphabet games, rather than having a "winner", but there's the possibility that it ends in the same fashion as Monopoly (namely, one person has everything).
A quick overview of the Labyrinth Adventure, with major revisions after today's IRC:
The Labyrinth Adventure is a mix of card creation, a team dungeon crawl and a contest between the Dungeon Council and the forum. Each chapter, a new map is created, and the forum has a certain time limit to beat the map.
- The Labyrinth Adventure takes place in an initially unknown map. As players advance through the Labyrinth, the map is filled in.
- It's up to the players to, between themselves, organize themselves into teams of 2-4. Once a team is ready to go, they will start in the Gate Room and navigate from there.
- Each team member picks a color unique to his or her team. While one character dying may not spell the end for the expedition, not having that color to complement the abilities of the others may seriously impede their ability to survive.
- Each room has a challenge and a reward. Solving the challenge will earn the team any rewards in that room - points (which go toward's the team's final score) and/or a card. The card is either an existing one from a preselected list, one of each basic land, or a "blank card" (see next). Note that the winning card still has to be considered valid to be granted (if we have three common Black Lotus reprints and one uncommon Tarmogoyf, we can just say tough luck).
- When a team uncovers a blank card, each team member submits a design within that player's color and the card's rarity. Then, the Dungeon Council votes on which card was the best and adds that card to the winning player's library. To stop cheating, the Council reserves the right to not let any design through (so we don't get every player designing overpowered crap).
- To keep things moving at a reasonable pace, each "turn" will be no more than 24 hours. Any player who fails to post within the 24 hour limit will be lost to labyrinth. Note that each room may take more than one turn to solve. In addition, blank cards will be handed out until two turns after their submission, to give the Council time to vote.
- As the teams move through the Labyrinth, more and more of the rooms become known. This allows new teams to plan ahead and make it further into the dungeon. If the teams beat the chapter's challenges (which may be find the exit room, gain X amount of points etc.), the forum wins. If the forum runs out of time, the Dungeon Council wins.
CURRENT OPEN ISSUES
==> People who have reasonable excuses to skip days. Current option is that for each generation, people have three chances. If they miss a 24 hour deadline, they get a warning, but skip their turn (teammates can still finish the level for them). I want to keep this a reasonably fast-paced contest after all.
First set attempted should be Core (Magic Flamingo aka MF)
Somebody calculate or find the reprint ratios from M10 on
Maybe the set design should start later or be a future monthly project, although the only reason I can think of why that should be is that running the Battle Factory will keep some key Flamingos busy.
The Labyrinth would be very involved and very awesome.
Oculus suggested (and I agree with) breaking the labyrinth into small chunks, or "chapters," to make it possible to actually do.
My addition to this would be to add these chapters into the eventual Clan Flamingo "Rotation" of games that we roll out on a semiregular basis. Rather than a new game, some of the time we'll roll out a new chapter of the labyrinth.
