finished with this post, people will understand what I'm
Rarrrghhh. I think MTGS ate the rest of my post somehow D:
Anyway, what it was supposed to say was "once I get my playset, I think I'm going to have my friend draw all of them playing together or something, like, in a little cartoon style. It'll be cute.
@Torel: JSS Anthem in English is like $500. Japanese is $150. Foil Emrakul is like $200.
Thanks. The Anthem's Japanese, so Emrakul's more expensive then. Although the Anthem was vastly harder to find (I considered myself lucky to be able to find the Japanese one even), since I don't buy things online.
Expensive cards? Nothing on that level for me. Well, had a Tarmogoyf that we eventually traded away for a bunch of other things.
Another random question... who runs decks with some snow basic lands (and for what reasons)?
I have some in my Rafiq of the Many deck. At the time I first made it, I didn't have spare shocklands to use, so I had to run Arctic Flats and Boreal Shelf, and then I also put an Into the North in there and a few snow basic lands in just in case.
I use snow basics in mono-coloured decks because of Extraplanar Lens and the fact that I'm greedy (and don't want to accidentally help anyone running the same type of basics that I'm using).
I just made a care package for my friend I gave her:
Goodies she needed for both a Sultai deck she's running and her Damia deck. (Including an Opulent Palace signed by me in silver sharpie)
A full art Zendikar basic of each land type, all signed in silver sharpie by me.
A playset of whitebordered old swamps all signed by me in silver sharpie (I think from beatdown? Whatever the set symbol with a star is) I wanted to give her one whitebordered land of each type, but I didn't have all of them D:
Some of my favorite basic lands in terms of art, all signed in the same manner.
Set of twelve tokens. Two of each color and two artifact. One set are the vanilla creature tokens with full art, the other are creature tokens with abilities. Each signed.
Probably some other non-mtg related stuff.
About signed stuff (when it's not by artist):
I know some people don't like this kind of thing. Rest assured I asked her if this was something she'd like, and she said yes, she'd really like it. I can see why people might not like signing cards like this, but honestly, I think it turns a cool card into something sentimental and special.
(that said, I wouldn't sign anything more expensive than $2 unless the person REALLY wanted me to.)
Ahh, I feel bad now, I really didn't mean to start a brag fest D: I don't like bragging about things I was just really excited that I was getting a card that is A.) Cool and B.) For my dream deck and wanted to share that with you guys. *hides in the corner*
Fair. I'm not a huge fan of Dark Confidant, actually, but I get why it needs to be played in Jund and don't mind it enough to be put off from playing the deck.
For Modern, I actually don't run Goryo's Vengeance/Through the Breach... I originally ran Scapeshift, but haven't updated it in a long time. I also have Merfolk, Robots and Hate Bears. In Legacy, I run OmniShow... tho Sneak & Show has been cropping up more lately for being a little more consistent.
So my prerelease involved me opening Monastery Mentor and Soulfire Grand Master That was fun. I only went 4-3 (SEVEN ROUNDS) but I think overall I did well (went Jeskai for a bit, went Sultai, went back to Jeskai. Should've just stayed on Jeskai all night I think.)
Also tried some new food for the first time. Squid is good. Octopus was a little too chewy for me, but small pieces are nice.
Squid and octopus taste the same to me and they're both chewy, so I don't like them.
Of the 3 matches I lost this prerelease weekend, they were all due to mana screw (not color screw, but flood or mana screw). Went 2-1 at midnight. 2-1-1 during Saturday main. 3-1 during Sunday main. I was judging while playing in Friday and Saturday. My last opponent today looked like the 'serious business' kind of guy, so I didn't offer a split. We just played it and I beat him like a pinyata. Apparently Shun Yun (or however you spell the guy's name), does serious work when you're super aggro. My friend got wrecked by it.
Gravetroll being unbanned in modern makes me want to work with it. Partner in crime Dread Return still being banned probably makes a dredge deck impossible, but I wonder if it can be used in other ways. Hmmmm.
I think I may be done with standard. I'm planning to go this Thursday and that might be it. The current standard format feels really stifling to me, honestly, it's basically four color and Sidisi Whip and then Abzan Aggro. I don't really feel like anyone's playing anything else at this point. I really liked where my deck was going, but all my creatures are worse than Siege Rhino, sooo. *Sighs*
In modern, I'm being lent an affinity list, and I might put together a dirt cheap Shamans list. Right now I'm planning on basically getting the core of GB Rock, Abzan Midrange, and Jund so that I can change between those three decks depending on the meta.

Awwwww. Boo!
Ertai, the Corrupted? My buddy made it to abuse with Grave Pact, Martyr's Bond, Enchanted Evening, and a ton of token-producers. On top of the usual Esper control.

Brag fest: Nothing too crazy, Extended alter Angus Mackenzie, JTMS is about it.
@Bur:Ertai, the Corrupted Enchantment stax/Enduring Ideal combo.
@Lasersharp: I run snow-lands in a mono-red Kumano, Master Yamabushi deck that focuses on creature control and damage doubling. I use Scrying Sheets, Mouth of Ronom, Skred, and Extraplanar Lens with the snow-lands.

I have altered some snow lands (in my Rafiq of the Many deck), although I haven't posted pictures of those yet.

I wish Thousand-Legged Kami was, like, not a ***** card. I love that art so much, and the idea of a giant millipede/centipede spirit.

That's why Sunder would(will?...) be in the deck.

And Mana Vortex? Seems like we just need to ramp up quickly into Sigarda, Host of Herons...
And finally, there's a new easy quiz in my sig. Though it's quite totally unrelated to stuff. #narwhals

No biggy: Evacuation, Inundate, Cyclonic Rift, Wash Out, Whelming Wave, Aetherize, Aetherspouts, Sleep. The deck would run a few of these.
Not to mention a robust counterspell package, tutors, artifact ramp, Smokestack, Illusionary Terrain, Stasis, Tanglewire...
It's not going to make it to paper fortunately, as it's a little too mean for my playgroup.
