As to the 'religious thing,' let's not keep going at it. This isn't the place to debate religion (there's a sub-forum for that) but Ravus, good buddy, you can't get upset because someone mentions something that implies they believe in God.
Still, there's no real benefit to going any further on this particular topic since I think we all agree that we're all free to express ourselves as long as we don't get preachy. I'm serious. I think that there's no real disagreement here. Topic closed!
Seconded, and I agree whole-heartedly. There was no reason for it, but I have... well, topic closed.
I am liking the new Bladewing, as Rorix was one of my favourite legends in the set I began with... and still may be, if he isn't being forgotten by WotC. I think I might rebuild my Dragonstorm just to play a competitive Tribal(ish) Dragon Deck, with four Tarox, so as to use Grandeur. I am liking that Dragonstorm is dying out, by the way, as I always wanted it to be a second-rate deck that could compete, but wasn't looked at by the whole world and sought to break. I just wanted to use Dragons to do my bidding, and here the world goes and copies my efforts! Those bastards!

I won't be attending the prerelease, again. The nearest site is a 4 hour drive. I'd attend if it were closer. Future Sight looks good despite the ugly timeshifted frames and flood of new keywords. I normally don't feel this way about new sets.
I saw 300 at the cinema two days ago. yesterday I climbed onto the roof of the school and screamed "THIS IS SPARTAAAA!!!" that's how much I loved it.
The real reason why I like red and blue best among the magic colors is because they reflect my personality: intelligent, but reckless and arrogant (mostly reckless).
I am here to announce my bid as Apprentice of Spell Manipulation (I wanted to be an Apprentice Dragonaut Commander or An Apprentice of Cutting Edge Cumpulsion, but such titles do not exist yet, alas!) (...yet)
Let me tell you a little bit about yourself. You are the Izzet League, the finest guild in all of Ravnica, no matter what anyone says (you have Niv ****ing Mizzet, how do you even dispute that?). You are masters of blue and red mana, creativity, explosions, and inventiveness.
Now, about myself. I play U/R almost religiously. When I say almost, it means that I will occasionally play a deck that adds a third color (like now, U/G/R ftw!), so my commitment is not so concrete, so thats where you come in.
I like playing agro/control above all, Wee Dragonauts is my favorite creature ever, and I adore science. I am discordian, in college, in the search of the perfect bagle maker/handgun and rambling on now aren't I.
Oh, and I realize my banner is rather simicy (those stuffy bastards), but don't worry, that'll be gone soon.....(...yet)

@Rodimus: Yeah, I was kidding around in that post where I said I was your elder, and blah, blah, whatever. I wasn't barking orders at you, but I think it can finally be dropped without hostile feelings.
Soo many interesting topics! You're drawing me away from my studies, gentlemen!
I think you could avoid that by not attending this site... or the internet as a whole, for that matter.

To me, Mishra seemed like the guy everyone liked, even though he behaved like a jerk. Heck, Urza's wife had cheated the poor brilliant and responsible artificer with him. And if it weren't for Mishra, the Glacian-stone wouldn't have been split and Phyrexia wuld have been isolated for who knows how long, and Tocasia wouldn't have died and many wars would have been prevented.
I hope you do realize Urza wouldn't have touched the stone in the first place, right?
The only bad thing about Urza is the little error he made when he assailed Phyrexia during the Invasion. But hey, everyone has their flaws
Quote from Aardwark »
all religions actually point toward the Higher Whatever-Is-Greater-Than-Us. To me, it doesn't matter much how you call it, as long as you strive to truly grasp its existence and the principles of morality and responsibility it imposes on us. It is something which gives people the certainty there is a right way to do things, in an absolute sense. Not all people view this higher 'code' in the same way, but as long as they aren't just hypocrits or psychopathic fanatics, they come to the same set of basic truths. The rules which actually work.
If you live well, it doesn't matter if you do it in the name of God or Jesus or Buddha or Jehovah, in my point of view. I believe deeply in what I call Order or morality and don't feel myself less spiritual than an average religion-member. The point is to strive for something higher than satisfying your corporal needs and lusts.
@Ravus, your opinion reminds me of a few of my friends who also refuse any hint of religion or acts of faith. They propose logic as the only working alternative and a foil to anything which stems from inner selves. I'll put the rest of this in a spoiler tag so that you can skip it at your leasure, but if you want to know my opinion, go ahead:
I'm not saying it's your case, but sometimes, refusal to even admit the existence and importance of things beyond logic can be too zealous and, let's say, dogmatic.
Some of the 'doubting intellectuals' I know in person feel lonely, hollow and struggle painfully and futilely with the world because they feel the lack of something overarching. That is obviously not your case, but it is a sign that for some people at least, something more is necessary. And trust me, deep faith is very, very much NOT the same as blind and yealous faith.
I won't get further into it, and I apologise deeply if anything I state insults you, I'm just trying to express my opinion in a language which is not my native. For me, expressing these things is hard even in my mother language. I just couldn't resist this issue and feel free to disregard my post, and if I seem to be imposing my opinions, then I apologise even more. For me, the expression is important, and if you choose to continue this, you'd better inform me by PMing me cause I won't be around for some time now.
This is a highly thought-out, and well represented discussion. Thank you. The part of specific religions not mattering is a good point, as I find them all to be
futile
, and for the main reason, this is because of the phrasing you followed that up with! A person does not need religion to be a good person, if one thinks that way, then perhaps they are not a good person at all, in actuality. These people you mention, the lonelydisbelievers, are you sure that they just aren't emo? They seem kind of emo to me... [sorry if this offends you, I don't mean it in reality, I just wanted to throw that out there as a poor attempt of humour.]
But seriously, I don't know them, so I have no way of analyzing their blah, blah, I digress. Did I mention BD is going to school to be a psychologist? Fascinating.
At this point, I have forgotten where my conversation was going. Perhaps I will remember later, but meh. My memory (especially short-term) is very poor.
Edit: @epoch: Congratulations, you are a member of the clan. Perhaps one day you will be able to be the High Mage of the subjects you describe...

well thats your personal opinion Ravus, and I totally respect that.It may not make one bit of logical sence to me...but it does to you.More power to you.

*I am sorry yet again, if anyone is offended by this statement, but I will not take it back. As wamyc has said, I believe that we are mature enough to accept eachothers' opinions, right? That sounds hypocritical. I mean to say, having an opinion is fine, and standing up for it is respectable, but I would kindly prefer to not involve religious zeal if at all possible. Thank you.
What! How dare you call me a zealot! I quit!

That's cool, in my opinion, it doesn't matter if someone believes in a religion or not, as long as they believe in something, even if that something happens to be nothing. One of the worst feelings in the world is when you are searching for something to believe in, and you have that emptiness going on. Nothing compares to finding faith (or finding that you don't believe in anything) and filling that void.
@ The prerelease: This set is dissapointing (so says my inner spike), but I think its going to be a blast! I'm gonna be hearing the word judge every 5 seconds!

Really? Your inner Spike doesn't like the set? That is interesting, there seem to be a good load of good tourney-cards, but the keywording of everything makes me a sad panda. I am under the pretenses that since most are on "futureshifted" cards, they are mostly red-herrings. If not, :sadpanda:
Yes, the tedious call of "JUDGE!" makes me cringe, as I used to be* one myself, and people can come up with the most stupid questions (and on the contrary, also very good, thought-provoking ones :P). That, and the never believe the lowlier judges in my area, always insisting on the head-judge.

Welcome, epock! Here's so you don't feel left out:
Graven Cairns (here's hoping that's the final card name) is really cool because it allows players to easily run Damnation , Persecute, and other xBB-costed cards in mono-red decks.
Religion is a touchy subject, but I find it only fair to share my beliefs.
The only thing I really have to say on the topic of religion is that I don't believe in organized forms of religion, as I think that people can spend their time doing more constructive things (like volunteering to help those in need outside of the charity required by a religious group or institution) rather than sit in one place and pray for several hours. I think that people should be free to feel and do whatever they wish, but I just don't like the fact that the energy of millions of people is misplaced on Sundays, for instance, because of organized religion.
EDIT: I'm going to the PR at Novi, so I won't see you guys. I do hope you all have a great time, though. I know I will!

Yep, and if anyone says other wise, may they be imploded, then exploded, then...then...then...hmmmm....given a single slice of buttered toast.
Not as good as force, but the pact is still phenomenal. It allows you to play crazy games with the opponent, and is perfect in tron (which I loathe, but that's besides the point). It would kinda suck if you tap out, your opponent plays their key spell, you hit em with this, and they cast exhaustion. GG!
It may go in my dragonaut deck, so I can tap out with burn, alpha strike, and still counter the inevitable putrify.
Thanks for the congrats epock,I really appreciate that man...
Guess Ill be the only married Izzet..lol.
I'm also not married myself, but I don't want you to think that there's no interest in your question. What are you nervous about? If you can figure out exactly what is making you nervous you can probably start to answer the question. Do you think things are moving too fast, or are you too young? Do you think she's the one? It could just be jitters, but the time to think about this is now because marriage is a serious step.
@epock: The Madison, Wisconsin Prerelease at Misty Mountain Games. Damn! The fact that you are in Chicago only adds to my statement that the Izzet is an Upper-Midwest Regional Clan! So for Regionals, will you be there with us?
@Niv: I don't think AI will be there, as he is in Michigan... I think(?)
I don't like that pact. It costs way too much, but then, you could just Trickbind it... I don't know... I prefer the Red one by far. But my favourite would probably be the Green!

I personally don't like either very much. Red shoulda been a burn spell. Make it a free lava axe. That might be a bit too good, tho. The green and the black are tied for the best in my book.
Hmmm....they all cost 0 mana to cast, something that is very synergistic with Wee Dragonauts. If only there was a way to fill your hand with these, cast em all, and swing for the win. This bears further investigation.
So for Regionals, will you be there with us?
Since I technically don't own a car, this all depends on the guys at my FLGS. Most of em go to Chicago, some Indy, some to Michigan, and every so often, two of em will go to Wisconsin.
@epock: Two will go to Wisconsin, eh? Do you live on / near the border? Does one of these people technically live in Wi? Did he go to the last MSS here whilst he still could? I might know him...
Hrmm, and as I may have made evident here, but wamyc certainly knows, I am making Time Spiral block tokens, for the most part, I have all the official art, but would like some help with flavour text, as my creativity is rather weak. I won't dampen your minds with the filth I have in there now, but any suggestions would be thanked! For the most part, assume these are the arts I will be using...
... as almost all of those are the official arts. Only two or so aren't that I know of, the Elephant, and the wurm. But they could be newer versions that just suck ass...?

Yep, and if anyone says other wise, may they be imploded, then exploded, then...then...then...hmmmm....given a single slice of buttered toast.
Not as good as force, but the pact is still phenomenal. It allows you to play crazy games with the opponent, and is perfect in tron (which I loathe, but that's besides the point). It would kinda suck if you tap out, your opponent plays their key spell, you hit em with this, and they cast exhaustion. GG!
It may go in my dragonaut deck, so I can tap out with burn, alpha strike, and still counter the inevitable putrify.

@Niv: I don't think AI will be there, as he is in Michigan... I think(?)
I don't like that pact. It costs way too much, but then, you could just Trickbind it... I don't know... I prefer the Red one by far. But my favourite would probably be the Green!
OMG I never gave u a cookie???? I'm so sorry!! but now I have a whole box of cookies for you Rodimus
@Epock: Welcome to the Izzet here is a cookie for you
I don't think I will get married any time soon, I'm just 19 so I have some fun to have still
I know I didn't notice I never gave a cookie to Rodimus, shame on me
I personally don't like either very much.
Since I technically don't own a car, this all depends on the guys at my FLGS. Most of em go to Chicago, some Indy, some to Michigan, and every so often, two of em will go to Wisconsin.

Thanks to wamyc for the image sighting and citing!
Edit: By the way, what in the nine hells is that Serf doing?
