Philosophy is not a science because there are no ways to test any of its theories. Unless of course one is to believe the words of others who claim to know what is out there and what we are here for.
You're quite right. Philosophy is not a science because everything it has to say is either a rigorous tautology about essentual and universal meta-scientific principles not in capable of testing or a treatment of meaning
given to specualtive construction. (though even in the case of the latter, falsification is possible, just not testing.)
Hey now. I'm on a limited budget, and I finished the pizzas off with four eggrolls and a full platter of General Tso's chicken.
Well then, I suppose you're justified. I can't hold a grudge against a platter of General Tso's Chicken... mmm... fanciful tastiness of Asian food that isn't quite spicy enough but I don't care...

I really don't see how it jabs at religion at all. In fact, a recurring theme of the comic seems to be an entertaining of the notion that programming languages apply in reality, not that god is a newb.
"God" should be capitalized there. As much as it hurts me to dignify Christianity, I have to uphold the phonetics.
It's about the support of scientific reality versus envisioned bull****ery on the part of Christians (or, to a greater extent, Jews--which isn't a racist statement, although if anyone wants to see it as one... I don't care. :p).

Not at all. That was very goodthink of you. If you had done it differentwise, I would have reported your doubletraitorful thoughtcrime to Big Brother.
"Traitor", and possibly "different" wouldn't be rootwords, I don't think. They generally went for lighter, plusgood sounding words. That way, even when inversed (such with the suffix "un-"), it doesn't sound... ungood, which would persuade the plusgood partymembers' thinks to crimethink.
Plusgoodful try, crimethinker wamyc.

Alright, AI, I must interject: With all of the support for psychology being a true-science you threw out there, you seem a bit hypocritical to pounce in the opposite direction as philosophy is mentioned. What, exactly, are your standards? I shall use this as further support that you are in fact biased toward psychology, refusing to listen to the facts about its status of pseudo-science, just as most religions are--to tie it in, Christians don't believe in biology/evolution... because it disagrees with their dogma err, belief--my point being that people are fanatical about their beliefs, and after a certain point, no longer succumb to logic. But if this is truly what afflicts you, I cannot continue this argument, as I cannot possibly win.

It really is a serious threat. Moreso when you don't have a colon to further digest...
And yes, I realize that many great card-tagging opportunities were missed, but I'm not AI, so... hahaha!

Bah. I had an amazing counter-argument typed up, and I lost it. It involved the different branches of philosophy, existentialism, Nietzche, William James' method for "proving" free will and absolute ethics true, and psychology. Maybe I'll type it up later, if I have time.
AI: If you want a job/need one, get off your lazy, ****ing *** and go job hunting. im sorry but i have no simpathy for whiners. oh and that web site is awesome, you gave it too me awhile back and i love it.
@Queklain: I agree with AI, you almost lost duals and fetches, but all you cared about was a foil vesper ghoul? *sighs*
@Ravus: got yur aim, ill try an catch you when I can. I dunno what you sb looks like for your RDW's but I would run magus of the moon.
sorry ive been away, my friends uncle(also a magic player, and the man who taught me to play shougi) is dying of cancer, and i had to see him(its not looking good for him) ill be on more now that im back.

Alright, but don't expect a lot of activity on my part... tonight...
I don't have a sideboard just yet. I'm still deciding whether I'll turn it into a block deck. I think I probably will, as there aren't any standard tourneys coming up soon (that I can go to... damnable surgery... :argh:).

@Queklain: I agree with AI, you almost lost duals and fetches, but all you cared about was a foil vesper ghoul? *sighs*
If I had my dual's/fetches defaced you bet I would be angry at that as well, but what I am really angry about is that someone would vandalize a card of mine, just because they thought it was bad. I thought that in this game you could play with any card you wanted, just because you thought it was a neat card. But when people do this, sometimes I wonder if I should just carbon copy one of the more popular decks card-for-card just to conform to their opinions.:-/

Agreed. After I recover a bit from my second surgery, I'm going to work at the local cheese-company. I've already got the job as a friend of mine (from FNM!) is the Cheese Master (that's his actual title... :isthatso:), and almost everyone that works there is a Magic player. Hell, a friend of mine that just got back from Indiana (from college) is going to work there for the summer. I swear, I've sat in on some lunch breaks (although I don't think I was supposed to... :D), and they're all playing Magic. Sometimes they even hold drafts (and get caught up playing and forget to get back to work... then the Cheese Master and his minions get into a bit of trouble, but it sounds worth it!)

The reason you cannot possibly win is because while you may not see either philosophy or psychology as sciences, psychological theories can be tested and disproven using the scientific method, among other methods. Philosophical musings cannot.
That is simple and concrete enough to justify the label "science" by scientific standards.
At any rate, I am more fanatical about Magic than I am about psychology, but that hardly makes me religious, let alone it a science.
I'm going to a restaurant today with a friend, where a mutual friend already works. Maybe one of us will get hired. Who knows?

Yes, scientific. Not a true-science. A pseudo-science. It still qualifies as a "science", just not a true-science.

Not that this is at all relevant, but pre-Holocaust Nazis didn't see Jews as humans at all. Or at least they tried to portray Jews in the least human way possible, which undoubtedly affected their views of Jews in the end.

I think it depends on if you're talking about the higher-up party members or the German families who were popping out all the future Nazi babies.
As I stated before.....So what? Do have a problem with me playing a card that I think is interesting too? I play it simply because I want to, everyone is entitled to their own opinions. I'm just growing tired of people who say I shouldn't run cards becuase they think its "bad" or "sucks". Its almost enough to make me call in a few older friends who volunteered to "tune them up"(The people at my FNM not you guys;)) before, if not for the fact that I am non-violent by nature (Or I would have solved this problem long ago:rolleyes2:).

I share your viewpoint, buddy. I'd play with random cards because I liked their flavour or art, and usually I'd win, too (note, this was mostly casual MTG).

Nonviolence never solved anything. And yes, I know some hippie is going to mention Gandhi now, but you know what? I don't care. If he had the resources, he would have shot up some *****es. Violence is the cornerstone of progress. Without it, we would have none of the technologies that we currently do! I say you get out there and knock some skulls (or at least hire some thugs to do it for you... :sneaky:).
@ilikepie: Lighten up. The Izzet is all about arguing random stupid **** for no reason. The Izzet are red and blue. Blue = knowledge/coldness/etc., Red = Chaos/anger/etc. Combine the two and you get a clan that's more than willing to express their opinions and beliefs and be as fanatical in their defense as... well, all that which I've been debunking in my arguments (slightly ironic )! We're just being our natural, Izzet-y selves. No one is actually getting offended by these disputes, or the conversations would become much more heated. Trust me...
Edit: Alright, this post might have sounded a bit confrontational... oh well.

Just pointing out it stinks. You can play it all you want. I actually agree with you. I often put Electrolyze in my decks just because I think it's awesome. It might not be all that amazing, but I like it. Good art, too.
By the way, how do you guys make such awesome MSE symbols? I can't find out how to make curves OR paint.

... uh... I don't know what you mean by paint, but curves can be made in the newer versions--wait, don't the older versions have circles/ovals? Yeah. You can make curves easily enough. For the most part, "awesome" expansion symbols (that's what you mean, right? Expansion symbols? I don't know what other kind of symbols you could make...) is nothing more than a lot of your time and patience. Unfortunately, I have little of the latter, and far too much of the former.
