1) Yay! We won clan of the year!
2) Thanks to everyone who thanked us
3) Thanks to you guys for participating in the contest!
4) I really like the new thread title, especially now that I see it in print, so to speak.
5) Anybody else find that Shards is really fun to draft - I mean, like really?
6) I'll be back for content later - I'm off to edit my sig link.
While I was playing in a Shards draft, during the deckbuilding section, one of my friends asked me how many three color cards a deck could support. Well, it had never really occured to me because I feel like you can kind of play as many as you would be able to get. The same thing applies to the panoramas, which that same player also asked me about and to which I similarly replied that you can pretty much play with as many as you darn well please.
The format seems really polished and dare I say, easy? It feels balanced and right. I haven't yet see one shard really dominate the others in limited and no real stragglers, either. Also, the format naturally puts you in three colors every time, which I think is a success. That kind of concept follow through is a tough thing to do in design.
Well, not easy to win as much as easy to avoid huge mistakes. The corners are smoothed off but the environment still rewards skill a lot. The only real element of luck that seems to come up more than a very little bit would have to be making your third color land drop consistently soon.
Hence why I say run as many panoramas, CIPtriple tapped lands, and obelisks as you can.

I like drafting shards, but I don't know about one shard not dominating, Naya and Esper both seem to be the best (in my area at least) where as Grixis and Jund seem to be the worst, with bant somewhere in the middle. The overall best colour would be white with the 2 best removel spells and a colour in most of the bomby draft cards, look at Wooly Thocter Stoic Angel and Battlegrace Angel, all amazing cards that are cheap and powerful not to mention playable in any deck running white (and a few colour fixers).
If I were to make a list from best to worst out of the shards it would go:
Yikes! Checking in four pages in!

Hmm, Jund rated so high, whats your reason for this, I dunno, it seems like it has the cards but based on personal experience it doesn't deliver, have you had different experience with it?

The deck provides so much virtual card advantage that its stupid, Unearth is sooo good, the shard has decent removal too (Violent Ultimatium is insane).
My experience has shown Grixis to be quite good. I don't know what you guys are talking about. Perhaps I will change my tune when I play more or maybe I just got a great deck, but I have seen grixis really do very well against the other shards.
Or, perhaps I would say it might be the weakest shard, but not by a whole lot. It is still highly playable. Not to mention that each shard can easily steal from the others when it comes down to making a deck. In that sense, they are really quite equal I think.

Sometimes I spash Grixis into other decks provided my mana is there, but I have only drafted Grixis once, and wasnt satisfied with it. I tend to stay away from it anymore.
Actually I have to agree with wamyc. Grixis is one of my favorite shards to draft because it is quite powerful in the late game, has the best removal, and is under drafted. Because of that I often go into it and completely crush my opponents.

Grixis is probably my favorite shard to draft.
Jund has the best removal :p, Jund Charm and all removal in black and red.

Agony Warp is better than Jund Charm in terms of pure removal in most situations. Especially since it isn't that good against Jund and Naya, which a lot of people try to draft, since a lot of those cards have toughness of three or greater. Plus Grixis Charm is great removal too. So yeah Grixis has better removal.
A lot of Shards drafting involves personal preference. Naya and Jund are the deepest shards, in that one can fight for cards from them with others and still get a good deck, while Bant and Esper are more focused, but can yield greater rewards (an exception being a good Jund deck running tons of mass removal to stop the Exalted deck cold). Grixis is the least deep, but if no one else is drafting those colors, you have an excellent chance of going all the way.
I actually find Grixis to be one of the deepest shards, as pretty mush every creature with Unearth is good. Unearth is a really strong mechanic that a lot of people over look. Plus they have a lot of 3+ toughness creatures and commons with flying and deathtouch.

Yes its still playable, but not as a main shard IMO, it just doesnt have the bomb power that the other shard have, not to mention its utility cards arnt to flash.

I love Jund and Naya though.
I'll have to look more into Jund, maybe I just need to draft more.

Grixis is so far outclassed by Esper in the late game its not funny, Esper does everything that Grixis does late game but better, it by no means has the best removel, Esper outclasses it by far.

Agony Warp is good, yes, but its not better than Jund Charm, oh wait, in terms of pure removel I guess, but overall. Esper has better removal.

@skaker: You should set it up so you auto subscribe to every thread you post in. That typically is the most convenient. In any case, even if you don't want to keep that option you can set it up, post here, and then you will be subscribed at which point you can undo that option. (Which is in the user control panel.)
@rocker: I don't know if you meant to indicate that Poisenville Kidz and Nickolaos should be in the erratic portal but I do think they are the ones and only ones I would start prodding a little and then oust if they don't start posting here. /purge suggestions.
It's a classic Rock (Faeries), Paper (Aggro), Scissors (Control) setup.
Rock always wins.
Also, the Heroes season finale did not disappoint.

Agreed.
Secondly;
You know what? I think I might just do that! *Ravus ponders getting off his lazy ass*
I really like Alara limited, as well. I don't think it's easy per se (refer back to Ravnica), but I do think it is balanced and powerful.
Now, since Rumour Season is starting* to kick off (albeit slowly and blandly), I would like to voice the following:
Ravus wants more fluxing Conflux, NAO!
Edit: Got off my ass.

4. Jund
5 Grixis
What do you guys think?
Please to note shiny :trophy:, is new. Enjoy.
@4-
@5- Its very very fun :).
Kinda, but one shard is a complete dud, the Grixis shard is bad.
Jund at 4th?
Mine would be:
1. Jund
2. Naya
3. Esper
4. Bant
5. Grixis
Thanks for the trophys!
Your well on your way!
I agree.

Grats Psi as I said in the other thread.
