I'd like to join, if possible. Limited is an insanely fun format. I wish I could draft more, but I seem to be only available on the sealed days. Oh well, sealed is still fun (but seriously though, $28 for 6 ZEN? My LGS is crazy.)

@Neon-Chan - I would have guessed that you've been drafting for longer than that.
I also started during the Ravnica Block (RRR). It was very fun and I quickly learned that UB Counterspell.dec was horrible in Limited. Once I learned that, my wins started to pick up. I remember I used to love the card Convolute. Now, I know how horrible the card is, especially in Limited.
I did extremely well during the TS Block and raised my DCI rating about 150 pts. during this time. It could have been more, but I didn't get to draft it as much as I'd like to. I really enjoyed this time and learned a lot about Limited.
I will put Xth and M10 together since I have had a tough time drafting Core sets. I would guess that I've lost about 50 pts. total during these times.
Lorwyn was pretty good for me. I played vs. a lot of great players during this time and learned so much. Eventide and Shadowmoor was pretty horrible, as Mimics took about another 50 DCI pts.
Alara was pretty good for me, including a 24-1 run (my friend beat me once).
Now that it is Zendikar, I am drafting like crazy since I found a store where you can use store credit. Since the draft only cost $9 and 1st place is $20-25, I have been able to pay twice and I currently have almost enough store credit for a WW box (I still am a Constructed player by heart as much as I hate the current format.). I believe however that my wins can be attributed to luck mainly since I have had Day of Judgment 3 times already (twice opened in P1P1), Vampire Nighthawk like crazy, and just good stuff passed to me, especially in the color Red (it always seems open).
Legacy - Sneak Show, BR Reanimator, Miracles, UW Stoneblade
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/ Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander - Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build) (dead format for me)

I stopped counting rating when I started to attemp big events. It's just such a big up and down since then. I.e. +80 at GP Rotterdam, -30 at nats, -50 at PTQ San Diego and so on...I had everything from 1960 to 1780 in the last year and 1960 was at the beginning ^^ I even managed to qualify for nats by rating and later I needed my Pro lvl 1 to safe my single bye all in the same season ^^
Oh, I definitely know that. My rating has gone up and down like crazy too. My Constructed rating fell under 1800 for the 1st time in a while, going 0-3 in Extended. This has me really down on Constructed, especially since I had already lost a lot of points in the Zendikar Standard so far.
I want to be able to get on that level where I usually do well at big events though. If I draw poorly, have bad luck, or play poorly, I need to know when to stop. I should have stopped during that Extended at 0-2 after losing to Matt Sperling because I didn't know how to play my deck, but I continued and lost 30 pts. more. There were 2 other times in Standard when I kept going when I didn't need to just to prove a point (going 1-5 with UR Swans and losing 4 in a row after being 3-0 with RG Nissa). I want to learn from those events and not be so stubborn in the future.

Glad to see you've pulled members quickly, + brought some new faces to the subforum. We're only just getting underway for the first contest in the Clan of the Year Race, + it's always nice to have more competition, so please feel invited to check out the Contest thread.
I'll leave it up to you guys. It's short notice, but do you guys want to try the banner contest?
It could be pretty fun, and a few people mentioned wanting to create banners in the thread where I was getting card ideas for this.
It would be fun to just do a bunch of banners and have a lot to choose from. I like the one I did for the header, don't get me wrong, but I don't know if it really says "limited." It could just as easily be a pauper banner, or a flying creatures banner...
Anyone who wants to take a crack at the contest, say so and we'll all give it a shot together.

<Limited Clan>
Finally a cool clan that is actually relevant to the Magic I play!
And yes, I''d like to be in ;).
I started my limited experience on MTGO during Champions of Kamigawa which was ever so rocky. My first draft deck was mono whit because....really.....I was getting Kitsune Healers really late! Those guys bust games open as they prevent damage and let my guys survive. Or so I thought.
Favorite limited format is kinda tough, but I really enjoyed TPF drafting, especially after MD5, CBS, and RGD where you were mostly guided as to what you were drafting. TPF still allowed you to build certain decks, but it was fairly often that you would simply be in a certain color pair rather than a certain archetype. Also got Tarmogoyfs in back to back TPFs drafts, so very fond memories of that. Hello free drafts.
I got into limited by reading mtg.com articles and frequenting the limited forum at MTGnews which built up how fun limited can be. Despite being terrible -- as I'm sure most are at the start -- I had a good time and tried to learn. At this point I consier myself averagish.
My peak limited MTGO rating is 1815 thanks to a series of wins in AAC/ACR drafts. During ACR I would stabalize around 1775ish. Now....well....let's just say ZZZ has been painful.
Great idea for a clan, I'm in! So that's what it was all about, that strange thread you had going... I can't avoid to notice that there are no Mulldrifters in the banner
Quote from Promatim »
Please also post a little something about your experience with limited. It can be your favorite limited format of all time, how you got into limited, what you would like to get out of a limited clan... or all of the above!
I actually started just playing limited "for real" when triple Time Spiral was the format, when I really got into MODO. Since then, I've played drafts and sealeds beyond count Online, and occasionally I turn up for real life tournaments too, though usually only prereleases, PTQs, GPs and Nationals. My favorite limited format... I think I would have to go with TTP. I would vote for TPF, but the "F" has this card called "Sprout Swarm" in it, so TTP it is. I will never argue that it is the objective best limited format of all time or anything, but I had a lot of fun playing it, I never grew tired of it, and I have fond memories from that time, when I started becoming an okay limited player.
During Time Spiral block, my biggest achievement was 5-1 in the limited portion of Nationals. Lorwyn: nothing, since I didn't play any real life events... Shadowmoor: starting out 7-1 in GP Madrid, losing the last round and ending up 65th Shards of Alara: I was out in the world, backpacking, until May of 2009, so I only got to play a little bit. I went 4-2 at Nationals though, and won a draft in New York where I had to read all the cards :p. Zendikar: 45th or something at GP Paris.
I guess I should also write a little bit about my style in limited, since I'm probably not like most drafters out there. First, I'm a Spike, no doubt about that. But I'm also drafting to have a good time, which means I'm drafting the cards I like, for the deck I like, even though I know it's the wrong strategy. I'm an avid control player and dislike playing aggro with all my heart (overstatement there, play aggro > not playing at all), and my views and opinions are very flawed. This might lead to me not being an objectively very good drafter, since I'm not open to all strategies, but I think I'm pretty good with the decks I do like to draft, and I definitely play better than I draft. Here's a post I made back in 2008, which kind of describes me as a limited player:
Quote from Sene »
A little deeper explanation for my love with Gnarled Effigy:
Many players are underrating it, but I am probably overrating it. I have a very unique draft philosophy, and it is: Be extremely (ridiculously) greedy. I am always on the draw, not only in sealed. I absolutely love 2-for-1 cards (Cultbrand Cinder is to me an amazing card), and if I see the chance of making a 2-for-1 in a match with the cost of some life (4-7 is reasonable), I take it. Deal me some damage, I don't care! I'm going to have more cards and grind you out of the game. Example: My opponent had a turn 3 Mirror Entity, and I have Peppersmoke in hand, and no faeries in play. I also have Dreamspoiler Witches. What I do is wait and get the 3-for-1, and take 10 damage (I win from there). You probably think I'm totally crazy, and it's possible I am, but this is my way of drafting. I almost never play green, and I almost always play blue. I always play control, and never in my life will I play aggro, not in any format, ever. As a result of this, the games I win are nail-biters, but I WIN them (usually). I win about 75-80% of my matches online, so it can't be that flawed...
It'd be interesting to make a video walkthrough from one of my drafts, so you can see a drafter unlike most others
And that part about being on the draw is still true today, although in Zendikar draft I'm sad to announce that I do play about 75% of the time, which hurts me on the inside every time. Also, I play in Ravnica limited, because of Karoos and stuff. Obviously
I'm probably crazy weird, but I'm happy with how I play limited, and right now I have 2 active accounts hovering just below the 1900-mark on Magic Online. Though I certainly do not claim to be good enough for that
Quote from Promatim »
Edit: Oh, and does anyone want cool titles? Say so if you want to be an officer. I am going to ask that anyone requesting to be an officer have at least 1000 posts, for now. If someone is a true regular to limited, we will see about possibly adjusting this. Figuring things out as we go.
I think I'm too unreliable in my activity on Sally to become an "officer", whatever that might mean... So I'll leave it that one to you folks.
I hope this clan will be a success, and that it'll be another excuse for me to stick around on these forums still
As a bit of a bio, my first draft was triple Invasion, so I was spoiled from the start. I drafted sparingly in the next few blocks, but I really started hitting my stride in Onslaught block, gaining about 200 limited points over the course of a single summer, just through drafts.
I had played FNM's and the like since then, not going to PTQ's, until Grand Prix Boston came my way in August. I decided it was stupid not to play that, so I did. I finished 14th out of about 1,500, losing my final round to miss top 8. That qualified me for Pro Tour Austin, where I was one win away from top 50 and qualifying for PT San Diego. I finished 73rd out of 420 or so, which is something, I guess.
I've decided that I'm going to take a little break from FNM's until US Nationals, as I will be qualified for them on rating, but I still enjoy coming here and chatting it up, as it's the closest thing I get to "practice" without actually running a deck out there.
I will admit that I can come off as arrogant and pedantic, and I apologize in advance to anyone who I might offend without meaning to. With that said, I speak my mind, and I tend to at least have a slight clue what I'm talking about.
Anyway, I'd love a cool title, but if none are available, I'll just be plain ole' Semantics.

I've played drafts as far back as invasion, but those were much more casual, and usually around the kitchen table. I've gotten into organized drafts from Mirrodin onwards. Favourite draft format has to be RGD (though I had the biggest upswing in ratings in Lorwyn, probably because I actually bothered to memorize print runs and stuff).
I'm always a sucker for drafts, any draft will do, from cube to team draft (to the occasional money draft when I'm feeling I'm up to it).

I started playing limited with MTGO sealed leagues circa CoK. It took awhile before I started drafting, but now I regulary attened our local FNM and draft online.
My shop mates have been talking about creating a MODO clan for a time now, so I think I'm gonna have to pass . Are you guys going to hang in a channel so I can steal intel from you and take over the world?
MODO Clans are different from MTGS Clans, but that's totally fine. You are welcome to be our clan's first "friends of" if you like!

I gotta say, I'm surprised how many people have been drafting for so long. I heard invasion was rough. I played during invasion, but mostly kitchen table stuff. I heard it had really intense color requirements in draft/sealed.

<Limited Clan>
Hi Bateleur. I already put you in there.
I'm officially promoting you to... hm... uh. I'll think of a good custom.
Some of my favorite Limited cards of all time are
1 Crookclaw Transmuter
1 Carom
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/
Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander -
Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build)(dead format for me)Are you joining up, Foodchaingoblins? I am assuming yes, but if you could clarify in your post, that'd be great. I don't want the higher ups to think that I am inventing members out of thin air. (I scoured your post for something like "I'm Joining" but I think you forgot to mention it.)

We're only just getting underway for the first contest in the Clan of the Year Race, + it's always nice to have more competition, so please feel invited to check out the Contest thread.
Anyhow, good luck + welcome to Clans!
Sometimes it is good to be a professional artist? What can I say. (Not that I DID any of the art, since it's all existing cards...)
It is nice to be able to make your own promotional materials.
Anyone have any ideas?
Whenever someone says "clans" to me I think of BattleTech. Not very helpful.

<Limited Clan>
Drop by my Helpdesk if you have any questions/concerns on the Limited forum.
Excited for M13 Limited? What do you think the format will look like? Head over to the limited forum and let us know what you think.
My favorite limited cards are:
-Mulldrifter - le obv.
-Dreamspoiler Witches - often accompanied with Peppersmoke
-Puca's Mischief - so underrated. Here, gain control of my Curse of Chains, I'll have your Safehold Elite with Shield of the Oversoul.
-Shaper Parasite - thank you Wizards for giving us blue cards like this!
And that part about being on the draw is still true today, although in Zendikar draft I'm sad to announce that I do play about 75% of the time, which hurts me on the inside every time. Also, I play in Ravnica limited, because of Karoos and stuff. Obviously
I'm probably crazy weird, but I'm happy with how I play limited, and right now I have 2 active accounts hovering just below the 1900-mark on Magic Online. Though I certainly do not claim to be good enough for that
I think I'm too unreliable in my activity on Sally to become an "officer", whatever that might mean...
:dance:Fact or Fiction of the [Limited] Clan:dance:
I've played drafts as far back as invasion, but those were much more casual, and usually around the kitchen table. I've gotten into organized drafts from Mirrodin onwards. Favourite draft format has to be RGD (though I had the biggest upswing in ratings in Lorwyn, probably because I actually bothered to memorize print runs and stuff).
I'm always a sucker for drafts, any draft will do, from cube to team draft (to the occasional money draft when I'm feeling I'm up to it).
Check out my pauper cube!
and thanks to PurpleD @ [<--- Left Play Design <---] for making this awesome banner!
Limited is awesome, join us at [Limited]!
I started playing limited with MTGO sealed leagues circa CoK. It took awhile before I started drafting, but now I regulary attened our local FNM and draft online.

MODO Clans are different from MTGS Clans, but that's totally fine. You are welcome to be our clan's first "friends of" if you like!
Welcome Sene, Semantics, Apex, Sheera, Pseudofate! Glad to have you all here!
I gotta say, I'm surprised how many people have been drafting for so long. I heard invasion was rough. I played during invasion, but mostly kitchen table stuff. I heard it had really intense color requirements in draft/sealed.
