In other news, I've decided to develop a set. Its theme is going to be age, or...well, I guess technically, it's counters (the markers, not teh win). Anyway, I'd like some help with it, seeing as I'm really bad at keeping cards balanced and simple. I'll post the ones I'm having trouble with in the below spoilers.
In a set that uses Upkeep as much as this one will, this guy may be ridiculously oped.
You could probably get away with making this a U/B creature and having it always turn off upkeep as a static effect. Just a thought, since I think it's slightly underpowered for what it does -- though it will depend on context of the set and how much it utilizes the upkeep step.
Would this even kill anything? I have my doubts. What could I replace this with as just an Age Matters black instant?
Far, far too underpowered. This wouldn't even see play in Limited. I would suggest reducing the cost by at least 2 mana. Depending on how much you explore the counter theme, that would make it a more playable Limited card.
Look at cards like Premature Burial and Cradle to Grave for some ideas on "Age matters" for removal spells. Although that is a completely different approach on the theme.
Should this guy have "~ doesn't untap during your next untap step." after that ability? He seems waaaay too easy to make a lock with. But at least he doesn't copy Sleep, though he is a one-sided Stasis with a higher cost...
Yes, I would put a "~ doesn't untap during your next untap step" clause on there. You are playing with fire when you make a card that can repetitively cause a one-sided Stasis.
I'm thinking this may just be completely broken. Beyond reason. Am I mistaken? What can I do to make this worthy of its Common slot?
This is actually perfectly fine. It's a situational soft counter that is appropriately costed.
Too good? or just Hada Freeblade with MOAR?
Completely stupid in Limited if this is a common. I highly suggest making this at least an uncommon when you go to put rarities on the cards. Otherwise, I wouldn't want to run into the guy that pulled 3-5 of these dudes.
I think it's fine for constructed. Considering the fact that creatures have creeped up in power so much in the last 3 years, this guy will grow pretty slowly relative to the cheap, powerful, and efficient threats that will be dropped on the same turns he gets casted as well.
Thanks for the tips. I think I'm going to go ahead and give the Blue Visitor the doesn't untap effect. The black Instant will be reduced to BB, which I like because I'm trying to push mono-colored a bit here, I may also make it "Destroy target creature with CMC less than the number of counters on target permanent."?
The black visitor needs a bit of a downgrade imo, as I plan to make the set rely heavily on the upkeep, (Except in some cases, like the Blue Grow Guy, which grows during the draw step).
The white grow guy seems more solid after hearing your points. I think I'm gonna leave him as-is, and raise him to uncommon.

Oh, so what you mean is that there is now no reason to go out and buy the comic?
Hey guys. Thought I'd drop in and say hello and see how the card contest is going. SC told me about the land he made, I think it's very cool.
I know I haven't been posting as often as I was and for that I'm sorry. I'll try and post more.
Things have been a bit crazy around home. We're looking to move ASAP and that in itself has been time consuming; looking for new places and calling around. I've been working on T2 and EDH decks in my spare time, I'll have to post some T2 ones for you guys to give feedback on sometime.

Thanks for the compliment again like you said on AIM. I like AI's version of my land a lot better when it relies on cards in hand though. That does a much better job with flavor depiction than the one that cares about life, and that's more than likely the one change that makes the card wildly fun without being too silly at mana fixing.
hey jaid if you don't mind me asking why are you moving? good or bad?
Oh it's a good thing. I moved away from my "hometown" about a year ago (about 30min away from it) to this town which is just plain horrible. There's little to nothing here other than churches and houses and I'm just way too far away from everything (including a card shop).
So I plan on moving back to the city I came from before here, granted its only 30min away from here, it's still 30min and it makes a world of difference for jobs and just daily errand-running.
I also still don't know my way around this city (if you can call this truck-stop of a town a "city"). It's like my brain refuses to learn how to get around because I hate this place so much. Or maybe because this whole place looks the same to me (woods/churches/houses). So I'm thrilled to be going back home as soon as funds permit.
that's good to hear that your moving back to what you consider home. i've actually never left my home town. really don't think I will. I love this place even though it's the center of evil in colorado.
I don't know about you guys, but as soon as I can, I'm out of my city.

I'm out the 5th of April, doing Anime Boston than getting the hell outta this town. Lived here my whole life minus the first two years I lived in NJ which I don't remember very well since I was two. I'm sick of this place.
I actually like where I live...The winters blow hard, but the spring and summer are great. Also the location is awesome because I'm about 15 minutes from downtown which is a relatively big place for Maine.
I find this funny little thing, everyone that were determined to leave pueblo did, but it slowly brought them all back. one way our another. this town is evil, it will suck you in, but for some reason I love it.
