Fair people of MTGS-dan, what is second season syndrome?
On certain anime: Mirai Nikki's hype four years ago got me expecting a... different genre. I was disappointed. It does what it does decently, okay, but I feel like I was lied to.

Fair people of MTGS-dan, what is second season syndrome?
Just taking a stab in the dark, I think generally it's the idea that a second season of anything tends to be crap, at least compared to the first season. For example, Darker Than Black S1 and S2.

That's exactly the problem I had when I picked it up, and that's the reason I like 11th so much. It's like he came from a different timeline where Mirai Nikki is a proper battle royale, not "Yuno kills another fool this week" series.
The Medaka Box website is finally open: http://medakabox.jp/
Seems like we're going to get the pool arc, at the very least. I'm still wondering whether they're going to skip any arcs. After all, they only have 26 episodes, and it's going to be pretty much impossible to fit the whole manga. Unless they go with fillers/original content, which I'd actually be fine with.
And where the hell is Yuri Seijin Naoko-san? Gyo is out, but she isn't, what the hell?
Oh, awesome, I've been reading it quite often recently, since I've been watching tons of ongoing series. がんばれ!
Meanwhile, Naoko-san is finally out. Well, that was certainly a thing. I guess it resembles Dokuro-chan if you switch all the blood and gore for dirty jokes while still managing to be warm and fuzzy. Then again, I haven't watched Dokuro-chan, so that comparison may be wrong. Anyways, I won't be surprised if this gets a proper TV series, since there's too much space for it to grow.
If you're interested in getting started, Netflix has quite a large selection on instant streaming; there's some really good stuff there. Around here we mostly talk about currently airing series which you can find on sites like CrunchyRoll.
I really, really, hope that Ozuma will be good (airing next week). Why? I've watched Yamato, GE999, and Harlock. Hoping Ozuma would be just as good, if not better.
Otherwise, looking at what Spring has to offer, and I want to watch:
- Space Bros: Seriously, SPACE BROS. Never read the manga, but it seems really good.
- F/Z S2: Need to see everyone die horribly (just reading what happened is only half the fun...)
- ZETMAN: seems a nice change
- Apollon: NoitiminA? Check. Bebop Director? Check. KANNO YOUKO? CHECK.
- Tsuritama: "Director of Mononoke/Trapeze does Arakawa Under the Bridge".
- Saki: Cuz I play mahjong at least once a week.
Things I may pick up:
- Saint Seiya Ohm: PEGASUS FANTA- wait, wrong series
- E7 Ao: Eureka universe is interesting, dunno if I'll have the time
- Korean Zombie Desk Car: Well... watched S1... might as well?
- Jourmugand: Could be good.
- Shining Hearts: GOD THE GAME SUCKED. But... DAT CAST
- Medaka Box: Nisio. Still gotta finish reading Zaregoto...
- AKB0048: BUT ITS NOT MACROSS 7
Someone else who's seen Harlock? Hi five. Also, welcome to the thread.
Apollon and Spacebros are on my list, and I think Zetman has real potential. Those are the ones I know I'll be watching. I may try out a handful more as the season progresses.
Edit: just noticed, your profile is a tad barren; if you want a sig and avatar just click the green button in my sig and I'll make you one.
Happened to watch the Princess and the Pilot yesterday, since a friend of mine brought it to my late birthday party. It doesn't try hard to be great, and that makes the movie much more simple and a bit nostalgic. There's no omg-so-awesome scenes (maybe aside from the duel), but there are no strong downsides, either. Overall, I'd recommend it to anyone who is afraid of watching anime - and it's not Miyazaki, for once.
I've also picked up Ben-To after the same friend recommended it to me. It's surprisingly fun and fresh, and the only thing I don't like about it so far is Ume. And the OP song is awesome.

Might take up your offer on that, haven't really bothered with avatars and sigs for a long time...
@Macius: I... can't get either, since I live in NZ... so I don't really care. However, Siren is licensing ARIA for Aus/NZ (although I've already bought it from Rightstuf)
On the plus side, this whole experience has helped me realize what I really want to do, and motivated me to fix my life and get back to Japan, so there is that. Time to contact some people.

I see, really?! Cool. That rekindles my interest.
I was looking for how to summarize my feelings about the way Yuno was played; you got it.

Massive Mirai Nikki spoilers. Like literally the entire story is spelled out:
The problem with how Mirai Nikki was set up was literally that Yuno knew the outcome of every encounter and acted accordingly. It's like having a cheat sheet in front of you at all times. The fact that she had a diary that The Eleventh can't read helps a lot in that matter as well, considering that she's been using the "Amano diary" quite often when things started getting rough. I think if MN was set in the first world, it would have been much more interesting. Then again, it would end up with Amano being the guy who does everything instead of Yuno.
Heck, Paradox was more interesting, technically, than the series itself. The series was more of a Yuno-fest (even if I loved every page of Yuno).
And ya I have the Aniplex BD/DVD limited edition Madoka. It's the second anime DVD series I've bought. The first being Monster.
Hey, I want to join but I don't know how. So... yeah.
Where can I watch The Future Diary's latest episode? It's only Hulu+... :/
Here's a hipster underwatched anime for you all: Spiral. Think Death Note meets... I dunno. Awesome. Boy detective, lots of fun, Blade Children... whatever. Watch it.

Consider yourself in, and welcome!
Do you stream your anime? Why? Just get it from Tokyotosho.
While I didn't like Black Rock Shooter at first, its last two episodes were full of awesomeness in the action department. Its plot may still be too melodramatic, but the fight scenes (directed by Imaishi, no less) certainly make up for all the shortcomings. Not to mention Strength suddenly becoming the single best Huke character, outperforming even my personal favorite, Black Gold Saw.

At first I thought you were talking about Uzumaki and I was like "I've been meaning to read that; didn't know it had an anime." Then I realized you were talking about this. Huh. Never heard of it before. I'll give it a look.
OK, so I'm being a slowpoke again... I just don't have enough time to browse the forums regularly, that between work, The Old Republic, actually watching anime, actually playing magic again... (our new local store just got the FNM license, meaning I'll have to build a T2 deck... that with having next to no SoM/INN cards, [/rant])
***
Anyway, for the season, my personal favorite would be, unsurprisingly, Another. Mind you, in my book, a bit over-moefied designs just add to its awesomeness... yep, they mostly use pretty cliched ways of generating suspense, but those tricks ARE cliched exactly because they WORK. I have to confess, I can't remember the last time a scene of a car our heroes ride in simply overtaking a truck made me hold my breath... also, watching it in a bright-lit room, as by usual warning, should be considered a crime.
OK.
Nisemonogatari... not quite on the level of S1, but a great one, nonetheless. Probably needs more Karen's acrobatics. Definitely needs BDs.
Natsume 4... let me be honest. Seasons 1 and 2 were great. 3rd, not so much. This one is better that 3rd, but still somewhat lacking... also, my favorite character seems to be unexistant.
Louise and Shana finals: first thing that comes to mind when I think of these, is that the girls both matured dramatically. And, I have to say, it did good for our mademoiselle Zero... Shana - not so much. I sometimes feel like watching a shounen with way-too-confusing plot and
former protagonist as the big bad...
upd: @Singer of the white line: have you watched the new Last Exile? if so, do you agree that they'd best swap some of the seyuus for the BRs... particularly, some of the Russian-speaking ones?

God I wish I could do that for a living. Sadly, I'm forced to settle for the corporate version. *sighs*
P.S.
Nice to see them doing some reviews on BRS too. :3
so
I, unfortunately, know nothing about anime or pretty much anything else you'll be talking about, but I'm here all the same!
Tired of corporate corruption ruining your favorite MtG site?
