KoolKoal: Feel free to take this with a grain of salt since self meta isn't particularly helpful, but I think I get scumread mostly for style over substance, but also for a certain lack of substance over style. It's not so much what I AM posting most of the time (though sometimes that can seem bad) but what I'm NOT posting. I've been told I come to non-obvious conclusions a lot, so when I post, quite a bit of the time there's jumps in logic that people can't follow and they think that's scummy. I get that accusation about a lot of questions I ask specifically. People call them "busy work" when the questions are legit etc.
As far as things to ignore, I can't think of anything. I would suggest you focus less on what I'm doing and more on how I'm doing it. That's probably more likely to be accurate. Like I've just said, what I do tends to come off a little weird, but if you look for how I do it, mindset comes into play and maybe you figure out something useful.
He genuinely *thinks* that lynching people that are deliberately playing anti-town are scummy - and that's ultimately all that matters in terms of identifying mindset.
While Anon's indignation rings sincerely, I think it's because Anon and Player A are scumbuddies and Anon is legitimately angry that people aren't listening to him about Player A, because he knows Player A is scum - since he's scum, too! It's a matter of pride for Anon, because people aren't listening to him when he knows he's right, which means he probably has less clout than he thinks in other games.

It's Day 5 mylo with 6 alive (4 town, 2 scum). Player A and Player B are confirmed town.
Quote from James »
Something just clicked in my head as I'm going through responding to points brought up by Player C in his readthrough (note I don't think any of them are really that strong at this point), but I suggest Player A, Player B, and whoever is town of Player D/Player E to read D4.
Now this is coming from first hand experience and from Player B's play this game: Look at Player C's initial reactions going into that day. Now from his perspective, he just lynched someone who CC'd him, so obviously he'd be town. He does not act like a confirmed town at all. He even says this
Quote from Player C »
As far as I'm concerned, I died in an explosion
last night that took out the fake CLAIMEDROLENAME.
We'd still be in good shape if y'all wanted to run me up the flagpole toDay just to make sure I'm the real one.
I'm kinda bummed that I didn't die a hero's death, then you'd all know for certain.
He leaves the doubt in himself and he lets a multitude of players call him scum today, including conf. town Player A. If he really was confirmed, he would have not left doubt, would have been more adamant about his towniness and gone on from there. Yes he wasn't mod-confirmed town like Player B or role-confirmed like myself when I played in XXXXX, but still there's a level of attitude that you have when you are confirmed town, like a weight lifted off your shoulder. Now I do not get that from Player C. His notes come from desperation trying to prove his innocence, when from his view he should have already been.
That is my case for Player C being scum.
What's the alignment of James?

I feel like he's town. He's seeing a discrepency in what he sees as his expected town reaction, per the quote, and what was actually said. He actually makes a good case om that he details the logic behind it fairly well, showing he actually thought it out and probably believes it.

James is scum. He's using sneaky language to make everyone feel like he's town. He shouldn't have to say "that is my case". It should be self-evident. Additionally, his CC is dead scum.
Also, since you said not to guess what game this is from, I'm gonna guess anyway.
