I like this card as a generic midrange/control good stuff card in an environment that supports agro well.
0/4 wall for B is functional cardboard, solid in agro matchups.
Then the transform cost is vendillion clique level disruption on a relevant threat.
Think it's worth testing, depending on your black section.
Think it's a later pick, but might surprise. Menace always outperforms my expectation as does hand disruption.
I might be in the market for this 2 years ago, but with Tourach and Grief, I think this slot is already filled. Hypnotic Specter might make a re appearance if there a few good haste enablers but its unlikely to come back.

I'm actively maintaining a comprehensive article to help explain to new cube players how some complex vintage level cards work in a cube environment. Vintage Cube Cards Explained
It seems okay, but not sure how okay. Only being able to transform as a sorcery means if you play it early as the wall you're telegraphing the discard, and you're still replacing that with another card. You're also dedicating 2 turns to that effect, and can't do it at the end of your opponents turn. If you do it all in one turn it's a 4 drop.
Forgot to post in this thread. We like it and are going to be trying it. Obviously a little clunky for aggro, and I wish you could target yourself for the lategame, but the blocker is relevant for UB control and the hand attack being good in everything is intriguing enough. 3/4 menace body is good, and should be good at dealing with PWs at that point in the game.
I don't think this is playable in reanimator like Grief is, which is obviously pretty rough, but Grief is great so I don't think that has to be as good as that to be any good.
I've been playing this lately and have been really liking it. Cards like Kitesail Freebooter / Deep Cavern Bat have been performing really well for me since they both interact well against initiative / combo, and this works similarly to those.
Been playing it since release and it's been great. The front half blocks most non-evasive 1-3 drops to stem the bleeding for the first few turns, then you can flip it into a pretty respectable beater.
Splitting the cost is also nice as you can get it in early under counter magic, or, minimise the tempo loss if the counter it so you can cast something else.

+ Better stats than Grief
+ Early defense against aggro matchups
- Worse ability
- Lack of ETB trigger makes it less abusable
I do think this is a pretty decent creature, but probably a lower priority card for me at the moment.

The problem is compounded with not being able to flicker / pod.
I think this is far off from Tourach, Dread Cantor, Grief, Rankle, Master of Pranks or even just straight up something like Hypnotic Specter / Plaguecrafter.

I'll keep an eye on it.

Great card, would recommend.
