I've noticed this popping up in some lists. Is it just a upgrade to plague sliver or is it even better? What does this things average P/T seem to be for most people. Is it an aggro finisher, control finisher, or midrange dude? D you always name your opponent or is there a time when you would name yourself?
I like it. It's a big dude. It usually resolves as a 3/3-4/4, and is typically a 5/5 when it first swings. I use it in all three theaters, but it's mainly a fat beater for aggro curve-topping and mid-range decks. It gets scary big when the game goes on. And it has a nice casting cost at 3B.
In a removal/discard heavy deck, I'll target my opponent because their yard will be full. But a lot of the time, I use it to target myself, so I can get cards into my graveyard for Loam/Crucible and reanimation strategies.
I love Sewer Nemesis for most if not all the same reasons that wtwlf provided. So splashable and is usually huge. I can honestly say I've never used its ability on my own library/graveyard but I like having that option.

I didnt think about it in the context of loam and reanimator. It's probably pretty sick with rec too.
It's been variable for us. Sometimes it's been big, like a 6/6, but most of the time, it's been rather average. It's seen the most play as a curve topper in aggro. I originally thought it would help out reanimator, loam, or other GY decks, but that just hasn't really come together.
I like Nemesis more than Plague Sliver. It probably starts out smaller if dropped on curve, but it grows very fast, is easier to cast and costs no life each turn.
I've been nothing but happy with Sewer Nemesis in my cube. I'm still running Juzam Djinn, for the nostalgia factor (he is playable though), but I would pick Sewer Nemesis higher.
He's the best 4 drop I'm not running in black, and is a lot better than Juzam/Plague Sliver. I think he's well worth four mana and he was often part of a black splash into midrange.
We've been running it this entire time, it's a boss. It's not a great cheat-out target since you need someone to have a GY so if you're trying to black lotus into nemesis you're going to have a small-guy, but there are a lot of spots where it plays WAY above its cost. Attacking for 6+ is a regular ACS to WCS for Nemesis, and when you're swinging for 10 it feels crazy. I think Sewer Nemesis is massively underrated.
I know, I'm a Doomed Necromancer for bringing this old thread back up, but I was surprised there was even a thread for this card, since I've never seen it in a cube list and wondered why.
Seems it was quite popular a few years ago. So now I wonder, why it doesn't even make 720 lists anymore. How was your guyas experience with it? How big was it on ACS and how bad did the lack of evasion/trample hurt? Would you say it would be a fine card for a lower powered, "fair" cube?
The black 4-drop creature slot is pretty barren once you get past the 4 top shelf creatures (Braids / Nekrataal / Skinrender / Kalitas). Kalitas was just printed last year, so before 2016 it was just those 3 at the top for a while.
Sewer Nemesis is definitely one of the better tier 2 options for black, especially with its insanely high ceiling. I personally like Abyssal Persecutor more, but I'd definitely run Sewer Nemesis in a larger cube since the 4-cmc black creature slot is still fairly shallow.
People just aren't in the market for big dumb beaters anymore. But I think this is way better than that garbage card Desecration Demon that some people cube with. Better cost, can't me meddled with, it can block, it supports 'yard strategies. Much better cube card, IMO.
I have had it be a vanilla 3/3 by turn 4 a bit too often to truly like the card. But it grows fast, is splashable and is a serviceable card. I like the big four, Brutal Hordechief (if you count it as black) and probably Gonti, Lord of Luxury more. But I like Nemesis better than Desecration Demon, Juzam Djinn and Plague Sliver.
I love this guy. Such a unique ability that can be used for synergy with your deck or to hurt your opponent, while growing the nemesis into a dominant board threat. He's up next on the cutting block, but he has been for a long time and every time I consider cutting him I find a way to keep him in the cube.
I've given this guy a second look ever since I've gotten a hankering for more loam support, which began when I got a Wrenn and Six. I think a line of play for him might include early turns that have a touch of self-mill, then plays him as a sizeable beater, and then has the possibility of following up with a Doom Whisperer to threaten Hatred-like swings. I think it's pretty cool, and I think he might get a little better if we continue to get more interesting graveyard synergies in our list.

What are people's thoughts?
