I think this card is a lot better than it looks! Since the addition of Doom Whisperer, I've looked at any card that can reward me for turboing through my library. I have some specific enablers like Necropotence and Hermit Druid, which are both cards that see play even without some Laboratory Maniac payoff in my list. Currently, the card in my list that does this is Nexus of Fate. With the print of Thassa's Oracle, I'm considering of adding Thassa's Oracle, Jace, Wielder of Mysteries, and an additional combo piece in Demonic Consultation. I still don't think Laboratory Maniac is good enough because it will never see play outside of these decks, where every other card on this list can be played under a variety of other circumstances.
Overall, the cards that make Thassa's Oracle good aren't staples by any means. However, these kinds of decks have shown up over here at enough frequency, and are incredibly fun to pilot. This incentivizes me as a cube designer to add additional support. And I hope sharing this experience will get others to consider this as well. Happy cubing!
