All the recent talk about Marit Lage made me think about how wizard could do a Marit Lage card, especially for commander.
My best answer was: don't. There is already a Marit Lage, it's a huge ass token and you have to work to free it.
So let's build around that!
Kungalix, Acolyte of the Brine 2UBR
Legendary creature - Goblin Shaman
Whenever a snow permanent enters the battlefield or leave the battlefield, put an ice counter on Kungalix. T, Remove ten ice counters from Kungalix: Create Marit Lage, a legendary 20/20 black Avatar creature token with flying and indestructible.
Marit Lage tokens you control get +1/+1 and deal commander damage.

How i feel about competitive players and casual players in EDH: The competitive are german tourists, the casual are italian tourists, both in a italian beach. The italians asking themselves "why are the germans here?" make a legitimate question, the answer is because the beach is beautiful, no matter the country you came from. The italians wanting to ban the germans are dumb, because if the germans pay for their stay and follow the rules like everyone else, they have the right to be in the beach. Hovewer, if the germans started to ask themselves "why are the italians here?"... they would be dumb as hell.
Personally, I'm not much of a fan of the "slang-as-rules-text" approach. Technically, there is no such thing in the rulebook as "commander damage," even if it's easy to understand due to being, well, slang. The actual rule is that a player who takes 21 or more damage from a single commander in a game loses as a state-based action. Wouldn't it be more straightforward and flavorful to just straight-up make the Marit Lage token your commander?
I mean, i can change it to "and they deal damage as though as they were your commander"?

Maybe one that's expensive and powerful, but the cost is reduced for each snow permanent destroyed?
That would work with oppression style decks Crack the Earth/Tremor/Tremble/Wildfire/Innocent Blood/Smallpox. The cost could be reduced by some 3 for each permanent, given the challenge overhead of such an interaction.
