Impulse Sentinel can't be the target of noncreature sources or abilities from noncreature sources.

Shortest correct and clearest wording? Or is it none of these?
Is there a reason you specify noncreature abilities and not simply go with noncreature permanents? The only point to the distinction I can find it if you want to be able to attach equipment and auras to them through alternative means.
Defender, protection from noncreature spells and from noncreature permanents
I thought you could have it just noncreatures but that doesn't seem to be supported by the rules so you have to call out spells and permanents, if you want to leave the interaction I explained above
