This probably doesn't belong here, but seeing as there's no variant subforum I figured this would be the best place to get feedback.
After talking with my brother we've decided to play Brawl with a twist: Brawl Block Constructed. That is, instead of having all Standard cards available to you, you only have cards from the block your general is from to pick through (including non-Standard sets). Not only does this solve my problem with the rotational nature of the format, it also allows for more generals to be played and therefore theoretically has a more diverse, more interesting metagame. Depending on the block and commander chosen, it's also dirt cheap. The most expensive cards in this deck are the Hapatra snake tokens.
This deck is inspired by my Amonkhet Block League deck that was incredibly fun. The deck's objective is to land a turn 2 Hapatra and start going to town with -1/-1 counters and deathtouch snakes to gum up the ground. Once you've assembled enough sizable threats, use your removal to get rid of troublesome blockers to push through damage. Pretty simple.
Obviously, only cards from Amonkhet and Hour of Devastation are legal for this deck.
