You're probably thinking that the answer to the thread title question is "NO!" or more like "Hell, no!" and so did I, before the Ravnica allegiance pre-release last weekend.
I went to my LGS looking forward to the event due to feeling quite sick the week before but ok last Sunday and looking to play a few rounds of limited magic. I got my pre-release pack of Azorius which made me even more excited since I bleed U/W so imagine my surprise when I noticed that my packs didn't give me enough Azorius playables to make a deck.
Luckily for me there were some good black cards and Orzhov cards so I decided to play Orzhov with a splash of U for a couple of cards. Out of my 5 normal packs I managed to open two copies of the card that defined my pre-release experience and single-handedly help me go 4-1 in rounds and finish 5th out of 28 people at my LGS.
Without further ado, the card that boggles the mind is in a common slot (after playing a couple of games I am really thinking they made a mistake and it should've been an uncommon) is: Ill-Gotten Inheritance
I opened two of these in my pool and due to not having enough creatures in Orzhov and the ones that I had are mediocre at best, I decided to play the 2 copies of this enchantment hoping they will steal me some games. Little did I know that I will win every single game because of these enchantments, and that out of 5 rounds I will win 4 of them basically due to these enchantments which no opponent was able to actually disenchant in game, so they tried to kill me before I could get them down to 5 life and end the game.
Anyway, here's the deck that I played at the pre-release:
I lost only round 4 to a G/R gruul deck that ran me over fast both games, and whose player came 3rd overall in the pre-release. I managed to get out Ill-Gotten Inheritance almost every 4th or 5th turn in the games which I won.
My creatures were just there to stall the board so that the opponent will overextend and I would be able to wrath the board (although I didn't draw the wrath every game) or I just tried to stay alive long enough for the dastardly enchantment to do its work.
Due to the limited amount of enchantment removal and the lack of it for people playing Rakdos, or even Azorius players who didn't have any card to remove enchantments I was able to ride this card to victory, the first time this has happened and most likely the last time as well.
I know that during drafts unless there's a bomb rare or bomb uncommon in my pack I will definitely look for this little bundle of joy who can single handendly win limited games if you manage to draw it and drop it on turn 4.
