Just thought of a card with a nifty little interaction between white and one of blue's less used abilities. Here it is.
Chromatic Avenger - 4WW
Creature - Angel
Flying, protection from black
Whenever Chromatic Avenger deals combat damage to a player, you may destroy target black permanent. 1U: Change Chromatic Avenger's text by replacing all instances of one color word with another until end of turn.
4/5
Oh, I know I've done something similar before. I'm just itching for Wizards to print something like this.
Sleight Knight 1WW
Creature - Human Knight
Protection from white, islandwalk. U: Change all instances of a color word or land type word on Sleight Knight to the color word or land type of your choice, respectively. (This effect doesn't end at end of turn.)
2/2
Seriously, it's this and Stillmoon Cavalier that I've been eagerly anticipating with every gold set. So far, I'm half way there.
I too dislike the destroy target permanent text. Considering they likely can't block it, it's like shooting fish in a barrel.
I think it's a bit overpowered, but as for the idea it's good. I hate Mind Bend cards and resent Wizards for printing a new one in every frickin' block - at rare! Slap it onto an already playable card and it goes from waste of cardboard to possibly playable and fun. Wizards, hire this guy!
I would cut the destory target permanent bit. It seems kinda random, and basically screws over any running monocolor.
Hang on, no it doesn't! The whole point of the card is it can modify itself to destroy whatever permanent it wants. Running several colours isn't going to save you.

My point was that it screws over monocolor a large amount. Saying that it screws over you just as much with multicolor decks doesn't really counter my point.

The guy who found the new art for shock and other 10th edition cards on the wizards site.
Butcher of Words.
I think at 6 mana it is allowed to screw over mono colored decks. You are still probably going to be paying 1U every turn with it against mono or multicolored. multicolored might just make you pay 2UU. I like the design quite a bit. I think it would look nicer at 4/4 but thats pretty insignificant.
My point was that it screws over monocolor a large amount. Saying that it screws over you just as much with multicolor decks doesn't really counter my point.
I'm not trying to be daft - I just still don't get it, honestly!
Say you're playing against monogreen. You're going to have to pay every turn so that you can attack and get a triggered Mortify, true? If it's monored, same thing. Monoblue, monowhite, same. Monoblack? You never have to pay anything at all! On average, you're going to have to pay 2 mana 80% of the time, to get a free Mortify.
Now, imagine you're playing multicolour. Assuming each colour in the game sees about the same amount of play, won't you also be paying 2 mana 80% of the time to get the free Mortify?
I think his point may have been that multicolored decks could have two separately colored flyers that could block so you could chump your way out of one mortify or if they were somehow both huge maybe even take down the angel.

Add "Any player can play this ability" at the end, and you have a winner.
I think if you did something like this you should have the initial ability be against red, as it is white and blue's shared enemy. Anyway, I thought I'd take a spin down the same general lines:
Burrenton Mindbender1W
Creature - Kithkin Spellshaper
Protection from Red U,T, Discard a card: Change the text of target permanent by replacing all instances of one color word with another or one basic land type with another. (For example, you may change "nonblack creature" to "nongreen creature" or "forestwalk" to "islandwalk." This effect doesn't end at end of turn.) 1/2
I agree that the card itself could use some work. I wrote it down quickly, because in this case I was more interested in the idea than in the actual card.
And yes, pro-red indeed would be more fitting here.
That's a wonderful little interction you've found there. Kudos to you, good sir.
I prefer a version which can change colour and/or land words on any permanent (and maybe spell), not just on itself, as this increases the interaction with other cards, and as rancored_elf said, lets us have a mind bend style card which also does something else.
The only potential problem I can see is memory issues, so if it can affect other permanents, I'm not sure it's good to leave it as just an activated ability, which can be used many times.
Hmm...
Sleightmeister 3WW
Creature - Elemental
Protection from black

Yes, I think that is the point R_E. More generally, I think others just have a problem with the card being too synergistic. It's like, a card could read "unblockable. when damages a player, destroy target permanent" and that would be good, but it would also be sort of boring and un-fun. That is sort of what this guy becomes, with the destroy ability.
Otherwise, I really like the idea of putting sleight on a protection creature. I believe that some old school white weenie decks may have actually run sleights just for this purpose?
