If the recent set stories are any indication, which they probably are, we'll probably see much more of the Gatewatch, like it or not. While I don't fall into the group that absolutely hates the direction the story is taking, I feel like Wizards could do more to represent the team dynamic they're trying to work in. Oath cards only apply to a planeswalker's official joining, and they encourage players to play oaths with 'walkers rather than 'walkers with 'walkers. Here's my idea:
Unison (This loyalty ability may be activated using loyalty counter from any number of planewalkers you control that have not already used a loyalty ability or contributed to a unison loyalty ability this turn)
and its accompanying action word, Contribute, which refers to a planeswalker using a unison loyalty ability or using one or more loyalty counters as part of another planewalker's loyalty ability. A planeswalker can either contribute OR use its own loyalty ability once per turn. The Chain Veil would not allow planeswalkers to contribute more than once or contribute after using their own loyalty ability.
Unison loyalty abilities would take the place of ordinary ultimate abilities (which often don't get used much anyways) and would be formatted by having a "U" replace "-". For example, a unison loyalty ability that requires 15 loyalty would look like U15.
Obviously, a planewalker-only ability would be useless in limited, so I would limit its appearances to:
1. Being pseudo-evergreen across multiple Gatewatch members. Basically, it would either appear on one or two planeswalkers per block. A low appearance rate decreases limited impact.
2. On planeswalkers printed lower than mythic rare.
3. Planeswalker that get other into play, like this guy:
Lak Srarr, Simic Replicator 1GU
Planeswalker-Srarr (M)
Srarr planeswalkers you control are unaffected by the planeswalker uniqueness rule.
+1: Put a +1/+1 counter on up to one target creature you control.
-2: Put a number of loyalty counters on target creature you control equal to the number of +1/+1 counters on it. It becomes a copy of Lak Srarr, Simic Replicator, then remove all +1/+1 counters from it.
U15: Create a 0/0 green and blue Beast token with Graft 3 for each planeswalker that contributed to this ability.
