Welcome to the second round of Survival of the Fittest! Last round, BuriedAliveByTime was the one that had to leave the contest after getting the lowest rankings from the judges and getting the most votes in the poll.
In the Survival of the Fittest contest, each contestant must submit a card based on this round's task. You have 5 days to post your cards, and if you don't post your card within this time limit, you will be eliminated. So, remember to post your cards quickly!
When you have posted your cards, each of the three judges will rank your cards, from best to worst, and the ones who get the lowest rankings will be put in the elimination poll.
As the first contestant have been eliminated, it has dawned on me that, if we are to eliminate ONE contestant each round, this contest is going to take a very long time to finish. So, therefore, I have a proposal:
What if we have the bottom five people each round be put in the elimination poll, and the two who get the most votes will be eliminated. This will continue until we have 10 contestants left, where we start eliminating only one. This will make the first rounds go quicker, and it will speed up the time until the top 10, where things really start getting exciting...
What do you think about this? Do you mind the contest taking a long time? Do you want it to go quicker? Speak your mind about this, as I need to know what you think.
About the new plan, yes, it seems reasonable if you don't want this to drag on.
Seize 1UUU

Hurried Bruiser 3R

Hurried Reorganization -
Sorcery
As long as you control an island, you may shuffle your library instead of paying Hurried Reorganization's mana cost.
Scry 2
I don't mind if it takes a long time, but I forsee a lot of people losing interest and not submitting cards if it goes on too long, so a faster game seems best.
I think it would be best to drop 2 at a time as you have suggested.
Eternal Legacy

Search your library for up to two legendary permanents and put them into play. Shuffle your library afterwards.

Those who fear the darkness have never seen what the light can do.
Well, it seems like most people want it to go a little quicker, so we'll go with the new plan. This will also reduce some of the work the judges have to do, so they don't have to judge 17 more times.
You may pay half of your life rounded up rather than pay Headstrong Cutthroat's converted mana cost.
Haste, Trample.

Devouring Darkness 4BB
Enchantment
If you control two or more swamps, You may have target opponent choose two creatures instead of paying <this>'s mana cost. If you do, put a taint counter on each of them.

Creatures with taint counters on them are black.
Professor's Lesson :3mana::symu::symu::symu:

You may put two cards from your hand on top of your library and skip your next draw phase instead of paying Professor's Lesson's casting cost.
Search your library for up to 2 non-land cards with converted mana cost of 3 or less and remove them from the game. Then shuffle your library. You may play those cards as if they were in your hand until end of turn without paying their casting cost. (If X is in a spell, X is equal to 0)

1: Salubrious - Hurried Bruiser Very nice. The original 3R sould probably be more red intensive. 2: Frozenmage - Sacrifice Clever alternate cost. 3: Yoyamime - Essence of Decimation Quality. 4: Greebo - Proliferation Quality card for a multicolored green deck. Hard casting it would be grasping at straws though. 5: Than - Offering Ritual Sure. I don’t think it needs the “red spells only” bit. 6: equinox - Seize Sure. 7: Eliminator - Hurried Reorganization Kind of weak. Clever alternate cost. Since you’re going to use its alternate cost all the time anyway, why not cost it at 2 or 3 and make it an instant? 8: Ikaros - Healing Meditation Interesting, but not very playable. It’s one of those cards where when you need it the most it does the least for you, and when it does butt-loads of good, you probably didn’t need it anyway. Nice idea though. 9: RUBRDUX - Professor's Lesson Very cool. Very Broken. 10: JohnJones Very clunky. 11: Raia - Eternal Legacy Broken. Turn 3 Akroma and Rorix? Nice Idea though. 12: Jeekc – Devouring Darkness Definitely undercosted, but interestingly flavorful. 13: AlphaInsidious - Headstrong Cutthroat Broken. Even without the alternate cost, a 6/1 Haste Trample First Strike for 5 in any color is broken. 14: Meteor - Shallow Eater Broken. A free creature for any color that scales to be better and better as the game goes on. 15: SOS - Pulsing Vorrac Red or black ability. I don’t see why it would ever be played for the alternate cost anyway, which rather defeats the purpose. 16: Casual - Enlightened Guardian Not an alternate cost. Easily abused in a Pain deck. (Or just mana burn for the difference) 17: CynicalSquirrel - Revitalizing Premonition Not an alternate cost. Broken if drawn near the beginning of the game.
Judging emphasized balance, innovation, and playability. (in that order)
Le Chat judged these primarily by how innovative their alternate cost was, as that was the round criteria. When needing to split ties, however, she looked at how effective the card would actually be in a game. As you can see, the upper third are generally printable, the middle third are either unplayable or broken, and the last few have rules issues.
Many of the cards were inventive in the way they oriented themselves with one color or another; after all, even if they come out for "free", they still need to abide by the color wheel. Kudos to everyone who submitted cards.
* Bestest *
01. Revitalizing Premonition by Cynical Squirrel. Crazy broken in multiples or with Test of Endurance; but it's a wonderful combination of play restriction and alternate cost.
02. Offering Ritual by Tahn. Having been in green (Reincarnation, blue, and black, red has only recently gotten creature-supplied mana sources. Although the name is kinda meh, and the mana acceleration isn't great (this would be wonderful at :symr:) and allowing it to be played as a combat trick by not emptying or causing mana burn ... well, with a few other exceptions, a very nice card.
03. Healing Meditation by Ikaros. It really should be an instant; otherwise, incredibly well done. Simple, effective. Le Chat likes.
04. Essence of Decimation by yoyamine. An extremely blah name, but a nice combination of abilities -- since the acc will put the Lhurgoyf into play as at least a 3/3, it's less of a drawback than it could be. Terravore is green, by the way; the red Lhurgoyf is Magnivore.
05. Pulsing Vorrac by SOS. Yowza! This is really a blue ability (Chronatog), and green still only gets 4/4s for 2GG when they have a real drawback. Otherwise, nice. No relation to its copper-footed cousin, but nice.
06. Proliferation by Greebo. The hardcasting cost seems a little expensive, although Le Chat realizes putting X lands into play can become extremely degenerate once a proper mana source is located. Le Chat would suggest that at least one or more of the forests so sacrificed be untapped, or it could lead to very explosive mana development. Saccing four forests at the end of your third turn for four new ones is an extreme step forward in terms of card quality, nevermind combos with the Plow or Patron of the Orochi.
07. Seize by requinox. Nice Juxtapose sort of ability, but it removes the advantage in the card completely.
08. Devouring Darkness by Jeekc. It's a Wrath of God for black, which is usually a no-no, but disguised as an enchantment, which is very clever. The "taint" ability is clever, and begs to be abused somehow. The acc requirement should probably be increased by, um ... one colorless mana? Ah, the problems with acc's: you can't do that. Well, it needs a tweak regardless; but very nice.
09. Hurried Reorganization by Eliminator. Really ought to be an instant, or else it's (almost) a strictly worse Index. Shuffling the library only matters if you've already played one of these, but it's still a cute alternate cost.
10. Professor's Lesson by RUBRDUX. Broken in T1, and probably broken in T2, and likely to become broken in any format we invent. Cards for free = broken. What didn't Mind's Desire teach you?
11. Enlightened Guardian by Casual. Unlikely alternate cost (usually when Le Chat deals eight damage in a turn, you're dead afterward), but otherwise a nice card. P/T-to-mana ratio is higher than WotC's, but then, Wizards is a little dumb that way.
12. Sacrifice by Frozenmage. The name's been taken since Alpha, although it hasn't been reprinted in four or five core sets, so Le Chat forgives you. But the acc is essentially not a drawback; either your creatures will croak anyway, or, more likely, you won't have any creatures in play to begin with -- either way, your opponent's army gets decimated for free, which is a little be-ar-oh-kay-ee-en.
13. Slicing Shift by JohnJones. A twee bit overpowerful; you could toss two of these on the first turn for free and be left with forty cards, while your opponent has to make do with eleven cards remaining in his or her library. While you've given him extra threats, you could probably mill him by the time he sets them up. Also, this puts milling into any color's domain.
14. Eternal Legacy by Raia. The last time Le Chat had three legendary lands out at the same time, she was reorganizing her binder.
15. Shallow Eater by Meteor -- This will never be played for its acc or hardcast -- but you can bet your velvet Elvis it's gonna be reanimated. Some other ability to offset Exhume bizorkeness
16. Headstrong Cut-Throat by AlphaInsidious. A little bahroken, especially now with Blazing Shoal. This takes the place of both Raging Goblinand a Mountain -- and offers a turn one kill without playing a mana ability. The cost, by the way, is black.
17. Hurried Bruiser by Salubrious. Not only forgot it's p/t, but would be better worded as a 2/2 with kicker (1R, lose haste and get +1/+2; or +1/+1 counter nowadays.)
14. Eternal Legacy by Raia. The last time Le Chat had three legendary lands out at the same time, she was reorganizing her binder.
What exactly does this mean? Everybody else got told, this has good flavour/is broken/is too expensive.
I don't mind getting a low score but if everybody else is getting some kind of explanation as to why they are where they are, I would appreciate it as well.

11: Raia - Eternal Legacy Broken. Turn 3 Akroma and Rorix? Nice Idea though.
In extended I get smacked down by turn one Akroma all the time.
I got first and last? Has that ever happened before?
17: CynicalSquirrel - Revitalizing Premonition Not an alternate cost. Broken if drawn near the beginning of the game.
I fail to understand this reasoning. First of all, I don't see how it isn't an alternate cost. Playing it without paying its mana cost is an alternate cost is it not?
And second of all, it isn't broken, because you have to have MORE than 20 life, which restricts you to playing a lifegain deck or something with lifegain, not to mention you have to be able to ward off your opponent during that time.
Sorry, I just don't agree with what you said at all. It really makes no sense. I also suggest you go see what "broken" means. Just because a card is good or powerful does not make it broken. You calling half of the cards broken kind of makes it seem like you don't know what you're talking about.
