Hey everyone. Someone asked Maro on Tumblr if they tried to use something involving gold counters examples being King Macar, the Gold-Cursed or Gild.
They said they tried it, but with morph it added way too much complexity to the set. However, since the Sultai are gold lovers, I feel this is a perfect chance to capture that flavor in designs.
The criteria are as follows:
Create a card involving a gold-inspired mechanic or gold counter in some way.
Needs to be Sultai flavored (involving death, greed, graveyards, or milling)
Contest ends around Friday 11:59 U.S. Central time.
Sounds fun! Here's a card I've used in the past that meets the criteria with a few minor alterations. BTW, I assume you'll be judging this contest yourself?
Rapacious Mercenary
Creature - Human Rogue (R)
Hexproof, haste
Rapacious Mercenary can't be blocked.
At the beginning of each opponent's upkeep, that player may put a colorless artifact token named Gold onto the battlefield under your control. If a player does, untap Rapacious Mercenary and that player gains control of it until end of turn. (Artifact tokens named Gold have "Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool.") 3/1
Edit: Can I enter more than one card? I just thought of a new one.....
Corpse Merchant
Creature - Naga (R)
, Exile two creature cards from your graveyard: Put a colorless artifact token named Gold onto the battlefield. It has "Sacrifice this artifact: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool."

Sultai flavored, but not necessarily BGU, right?
