"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing."
It seemed to me that the second ability could have been a 1/1 white spirit with flying, like reincarnate. It would have been more elegant, and you didn't need the bonus point for black in card text (having 7 CMC and 7 total P/T).

True that I didn't need it, but I was thinking more along the lines of preventing said 2/2 token from being taken out by the same Devourer. I could've made a white token with pro-black, but that would just be too nasty, so I opted to use a regular Dark Banishing clause and make the token black...
Now that the shock has worn down a bit, I can now assume that this is real and not a dream...
I'd like to thank everyone I met in the FCC, and not just this round. Creating cards was more like a passing interest when I first started looking at the FCC threads in Sally. Not only did joining the FCC eventually lead to this high, it also led me to do something else: the Forum Drafts (I wanted to do more than just post every now and then, and since I had nothing to contribute in the Rumor Mill, I went to the one other place I was comfortable in...)
More than that, every single month as either a player or judge was a true learning experience, one that allowed me to learn more from every player, and gain wisdom from every judge...
If you are not sure about joining the FCC, I encourage you to do so. It may be a tough road, but it is one that helped me appreciate Magic all the more...
Again, many thanks...

I just wish the image wasn't that much pixelized:-/ The render is definitely the worst thing in the card, IMO. The rest is just great!
I kinda agree also. I'll try to find the same version of the art that has better resolution. If not, I'll just do two token card renders to accompany my entry...
Great job Sheperd, but a quick question: what card(s) other than yours did you like in the final round (or in any other round)?

Dalek Sec: This is not war. This is pest control! Cyberman: We have five million Cybermen. How many are you? Dalek Sec: Four. Cyberman: You would destroy the Cybermen with four Daleks?
Dalek Sec: We would destroy the Cybermen with one Dalek! You are superior in only one respect. Cyberman: What is that?
Dalek Sec: You are better at dying!

Off the top, I would say Kenaron's, because it is the cleanest, most effective submission that doesn't try to do too much. I'll need to check through all the cards since I'm sure there are at least two that are nice (but wordy), but I can say that I did like some of the ones that were not actually final submissions...

As an aside, here's a link to the picture on deviantArt:
Thanks for posting the link: it saved me some time in looking for it again...
On a related note, I now tried using the larger version, and it is slightly better but probably still pixelated enough to get the same comment. I guess I'll just make some tokens instead...
PS. Made the following tokens to go along... enjoy...

The traditional runner-up nitpick- Savara Desert? I think you should have changed a few more letters of that name.
That's actually a name rip-off from the arcade shooter Tyrian. Some of the other names I use for other territories were originally location rip-offs from other games as well, but I had time over the months to tweak them. Savara is the exception: it was very simple yet good enough to refer to a very dead, but not undead, country.
Dosen't look overpowered in comparison to the ridiculous stuff Wizards is printing those times around. It's pretty cool. I like.

The interesting thing about us legacy players is that we consider Force of Will, Dark Ritual, Blood Moon, Tarmogoyf and Swords to Plowshare to be fair.
It's a non-Legendary Stone Rain and Terror on a stick. It generates token for the victim, but two 1/1s does not compensate for the loss.
I think the only thing I'd change personally, would be to make his toughness 2, so that he can't attack into the tokens and still survive. But that's REALLY reaching. It's pretty balanced from all angles really.
Congrats on the win, but I don't see myself ever using this card in constructed. Cards like Tombstalker and Avatar of Woe are just superior in nearly every way to it.

I've used it on cards before and really like the composition and color scheme.

I might evolve the name a bit more, eventually...

It's a little too powerful for my liking. truth is, I'd most likely use 4 of them.
Congratulations on the win, though.
