Asking out a girl is like trying to cast a first turn Necropotence. Sometimes the other player will have the Force of Will to say no. You shouldn't let that stop you from trying it.
ummmm is it just me or has anyone else noticed that umm... that second card is a little.... *cough* umm.... ANYWAY! i think that gek would be a great card to pair up with some clash cards, maybe like come counterspell like broken ambitions but overall junktroller
i gotta say if i ever got this card i would definetly throw it into a G/U semi control thing i think it would be alot of fun

In Shadowmoor they just released a card that would be very fun and use his abilities to the full extent. The Sun and Moon Wheel would continually use his ability and recycle the cards making sure you grab the same cards over and over again.
I think that I came up with a very good deck using him but it would probably be a tri color deck, red for burn spells, blue for him and green or white for the sun and moon wheel.
A really good use of him would be a lava spike, remove it from the bottom for 2 loyalty, spend 1 loyalty to play it and if the wheel is out it goes to the bottom and repeat the process.
i broke the format! or i would have if they really released this. so, heres what you. grab some good burn, a few draw spells, and a bunch of counterspells. toss in gek and some grapeshots and/or ignite memories. keep them from dropping any kind of threat, if they do, burn it. drop gek. fix your draws, fix your draws, fix your draws, fix your draws, activate his third ability. you should get one or two burn spells and a grapeshot and/or ignite memories. you win.
ok, maybe i didnt break the format. but i still like the idea of a deck like that.

I'm surprised Quazifuji made it past round two with Gek's Spelltester. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he did because he was solid from there on.
By the way, nobody has made much a mention of Laboratory of Obscurities. It's biggest problem centered around not knowing the top card of your library, and planeswalker Gek fixes that for you. With that and original Gek you can draw from the bottom of your deck and keep your favorite card on top of your deck for purposes of clash or whatever. Any two of those three work well together.
The card should say whether the removed card is face up or down. Obviously with face down being more powerful. Would play well with a Future Sight in play.

A very nice, and well designed card.

Two judges mentioned this too, but a card only needs to specify if the card's removed from the game face down. Face up is the default, as can be seen on cards like Kaho, Minamo Historian and Aerial Caravan. I actually would have made it face down, but the extra part required to let you look at the cards made the text too small.

I was one of those judges. Ideally face down would be cooler, but it would scrunch the text box too much on the render. I scratched my head for a while trying to come up with the magical wording and couldn't do it.
I remember when 'walkers first came out someone had this different frame that would allow for more text. Now with this frame I think you could do something a little more interesting, but it wouldn't have been better for the FCC.
Are you serious? No, it's not in Eventide. There are some significant clues. One is that the edition symbol is a question mark instead of the EVE symbol. An other clue is that this is the custom card creation forum and not a message board for WotC employees. Quazifuji is not on the design team for EVE to the best of my knowlege, and if he was this contest would be a breach of his contract I would assume.
This card is definitely balanced since it barely does anything the turn you play it. Even with Doubling Season out you can't do anything broken.
(Might make for a fun casual deck in combination with Timesifter though.)

I don't like this card... All the other planeswalker cards have a useful ability the turn it comes in for both the first and second ability. If it wasn't for that huge draw back I think he'd be broken... as it is he's more of a jank card. I don't see wizards ever printing a planeswalker like this. It doesn't fit the flavor of a planeswalker.
Too powerful or not seems to be a moot question to me. This card simply doesn't work. It would require corpse counters à la Void Maw (although presumably called something else).
Wrong. Void Maw needs corpse counters because its ability is a replacement effect. Normally, "removed from the game with ~" works fine.

When you peer long enough through the depths, the depths peer also through you.
This card seems very weak to me. The Strongest point of any planeswalker is the "second ability" or small loyalty counter removal. The better that ability is the stronger the planeswalker. Unfortunatly, this cards "second ability" can't be used until it's "replenishing ability" is activated for any useful effect. Thats the same reason why the "third ability" is rarely used.
I have a simple problem with Gek. That problem is he forces you to play the first ability to use the second. I probably should have more but I'm ignoring power questions here. The problem is he forces you to use the first ability. One solution is to change the second ability to "play a card with converted mana cost X you own that is removed from the game" or some similiar nonsense.
Scratch my last suggestion, as there just not enough combos for that. I also find the third ability boring in that it is just a big version of the second one. This card really has only one route to victory, though it uses two different scales.
How about this for a set:
+1: Look at the bottom three cards of your library. Put opne on the top of your library and the rest on the bottom of your library.
-2: Reveal the bottom card of your library. Gain control of target creature with converted mana cost less than the revealed card.
-6: Remove the bottom three cards of your library from the game. Until end of turn, you may play those cards without paying their mana cost.
At least that's more interesting and more interactive with commonly played cards.
