So....bad? bad as in...goliath sphinx bad? or bad as in...would work so well with a lotus cobra/knight of the reliquary combo because it's great awesomeness? I say great card.
Its a good card! I like it. 3 life is nothing in the formats that will play it. If I snatch DD, for example, I A) cut out a DD from their deck B) make them play their own DD to get rid of it. With every legendary land, this is better than land destruction.
Of course, if you play it versus an aggro deck, like Zoo, you are going to be very sad.
And it's certainly a good card if some people think its bad while others argue it is good. Right?

of course, because who would say it's bad when it's obviously good? just them merely thinking that it's bad is just telling us that it's good because they don't want to see it played against them.
I can't see how anyone could/would make the argument that this card is Standard-playable. Those 3 life points are pretty big in today's Standard, and Tectonic Edge and possibly Celestial Colonnade or Raging Ravine is the only thing really worth grabbing. You'd have to play game 1 to know if they're even running it, and even then you may not know. I guess the only other application would be mana-fix by searching for a Terramorphic Expanse, whoops they're running Evolving Wilds. Just simply not Standard-practical except for the possibility of Sideboard Shenanigans if you're into that sort of thing.
Paying life was a bad drawback to choose for this card. In the formats where grabbing any land from your opponent is a really strong effect paying life is not as huge as a drawback.
A better drawback would have been one that makes the card more playable in formats like standard but keeps the power in check in the possibly more abusive formats. For example, CIPT or an additional mana cost to sac are a bigger deal in the older formats but less of a drawback then 3 life in standard.
I think it's playable in T2 since everyone is playing the man lands. Probably a side board card, cos if your opp doesn't play the same colours it's pretty useless. By the way, you get the chance to scout your opponent's deck, which is also a good thing.

This. The card makes it more attractive to not run Library of Alexandria in your deck. Weither that is a good thing or not remains to be seen...
Awful flavortext by the way. Might as well make it "I can see your house from here" or "There's no place like your home" or "Im in yur house, eating yur manas!".
It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
I'm not a big follower of the create a card scene here, but I was intrigued by the sight of a land winning this month. At first, I thought the life cost was a little bit too high but it most likely needs to be to prevent some kind of wierd zuran orb - crucible recursion. Not to mention the land doesn't come into play tapped.
I can go get your wasteland and waste your tundra without using the stack? Ya that's strong.
Good, unique effect.

Out of the blackness and stench of the engulfing swamp emerged a shimmering figure. Only the splattered armor and ichor-stained sword hinted at the unfathomable evil the knight had just laid waste.
The problem with defining this format by what is "fun" is that everyone seems to define fun as what they don't lose to. If you keep losing to easily answered cards, that means you should improve your deck. If you don't want to improve your deck, then you should come to peace with the idea that you are going to lose because you chose to not interact with better strategies.
I would love a card like this in EDH, mix it with a crucible of worlds and it might as well be your game, just take a land first time you do it and when you look though memorize a card you want and then bring it back with crucible rinse and repeat

Can be run as a one of in Knight of the Reliquary decks.
In any mirror, this is 5-8 of your best land.
A control deck playing against mono red won't want this card.
A mono red deck running Plated Geopede will want this card.
This card definitely has a home in every format, even standard.
