Sadly, the templating isn't that appealing (Font size, not the level up frame). Modes are amazing, but i would almost want to add a "once per turn." rider to the level up, just so that you can't do the psuedo-sweep then armageddon. Otherwise, i really do enjoy this as an idea for land and definitely was a point they could have touched on in rise instead of that turd angelheart vial.
Pretty neat. Won't fit into any EDH deck as you'd have to have a 5 color general. This card loves Proliferate. Think there's enough land destruction in EDH to keep it from being too silly.
I believe this needs to say "Level up - Return an untapped land you control to its owner's hand."
Otherwise, this is a very strong ritual effect.
We discussed this. It used to be untapped lands and tapped for one colorless, but we decided to cut both. Its definitely powerful, but I don't think its broken. I guess it feels more mythic now that I look at it.

"In the beginning, MTG Salvation switched to a new forum format.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move."
It was at that moment that I realized: I'm kinda just making these things up. We can just write the rules the way we want them to work. People will have fun, and people will get it.
Oh wow, this with a Fist of Suns... Really wishing this existed and that WotC explores Level-Up again at some point.
Fantastic job to all involved. (should have kept it untapped land though IMO)

Brian Tinsman, Set Designer :?mana::snow::snow:
Legendary Creature – Human Designer (MR)
Brian Tinsman, Set Designer can only be cast during the third set of a block.
When Brian Tinsman, Set Designer enters the battlefield, ignore all flavor and mechanics of the first two sets in the block. "Ok so what do we have here... gothic horror? Scrap it. Expand the Devine Vs. Demonic duel deck to 244 cards and print it!"

This card is good, but its still much more of a gamble than people realize to just level it up. If in response to returning your 5th land they just boomerang, beast within, aether tradewinds ... you name it ... you're in a pretty awkward situation.
Kudos for combining a previous mechanic with a different card type not associated with that ability.

The bounce lands from Mirage and Ravnica are a big gamble too yet it didn't stop anyone from playing them.
And you have to bounce it before the first counter was added to deny them any mana.

I like the card but I have to say it does look over powered with the ritual effect. On turn 6 getting 10 mana is huge.
I think the solution is for the land should come into play tapped (which is the modern way of slowing effects down). See Rupture Spire for an example of a land that is pretty comparable.
This card is only broken with other broken cards, and anybody willing to throw 5 lands into this thing all at once for 5 colors on turn 6 assuming no missed land drops absolutely deserves the 5 for 1 that it will get them. It's a good card, but it's something you don't want to go all in on unless you're abusing it. Every time you miss a land drop, you bounce one and replay it. This keeps you at tempo until you reach 3 counters or so and you can comfortably bounce a few.
But then somebody will play Forest > Fastbond > Primal Wellspring > Kabira Crossroads and have infinite life + infinite mana of any color on turn 1... but the broken card is still Fastbond, not the wellspring.
Just like the broken card is Voltaic Key and not Time Vault? Survival not Vengevine? You can't design cards in a vacuum.

Fitting name, wicked art and slick mechanics and unlike many of the other cards i see but never comment on i think it is balanced. To be used with Oracle of Mul Daya, Jace, the Mind Sculptor in 5C EDH. I would play this. I want this. Nice job!
On the balance...i hope most good decks run some type of land/permanat destruction/disruption. In a meta where this would be running around of course you would run LD. Your're setting youself up for a ☺☺☺☺ing brutal 5for1 off something as simple as Boomerang. No lands, no plans no chance of recovery.
Given up magic because a)its a waste of money b)it sucks the joy out of life c)im doing more interesting things than tapping pieces of plastic that have no intrinsic value.
I encourage you to do the same. Instead of FNM try Friday Night Something Spontaneous. Instead of thousands of hours and dollars on plastic imagine it with a significant other or friends sharing something meaningful. I randomly typed a new password, so bon voyage itches i encourage you to follow suit! Cheers
So color fixing... free mana (tap land, return land, replay land, tap land)... and if it would get destroyed you return it to your hand with its own level up and are likely down only one land drop of tempo for one turn?

I could see this being VERY useful in landfall and even in 5cc where it can recycle used vivid lands. Good job guys.

In my opinion, it would never be printed as is.
With that clause, the land is still awesome. Very flexible and usable in multiple archetypes.
But then somebody will play Forest > Fastbond > Primal Wellspring > Kabira Crossroads and have infinite life + infinite mana of any color on turn 1... but the broken card is still Fastbond, not the wellspring.

Mind over Matter, Earthcraft, Urza's Saga untap cards, and any one shot land untap effect say hello!
As an opponent of the card :
Tectonic Edge, Wasteland, Strip Mine, Spreading Seas
This card would only get played in decks that could do unfair things with it. Otherwise, it's too risky to play.
Combine that with Oracle of Mul Daya and you can activate it very quickly.
