So I had this idea of something between AVR style flickering (exile, then return immediately) and normal flickering (exile, then return at end of turn). What if a spell said "Exile target permanent, then return it to the battlefield under its owner's control the next time you could cast a sorcery"? Would that work? Obviously it would be designed as sort of a way to help your permanents dodge removal.
Sure, it could work. There's an issue regarding this, though. Is this a triggered ability (normal flickering), or is this a "happens immediately" thing (a la Banishing Light)? In other words, are players allowed to respond to the creature card returning to the battlefield? "The next time you could cast a sorcery" could be intended to be either a trigger condition that is to be fulfilled, or the end of a "duration" for a one-shot effect.

It's supposed to be a "duration" thing, not a trigger. So i suppose it would be worded more like "Exile target permanent until the next time you could cast a sorcery."
The Banisher Priest templating makes it easy for new Turn to Mist cards to just say "Exile target creature until end of turn." The easy way to do what you want would be "Exile target creature until your next main phase." What you have in post 3 would work too, but there is always the possible confusion for newer players about what "any time you could cast a sorcery" means. (do you need to have a sorcery card in hand? etc)
